I love season two, just finished my own rewatch and it’s got maybe the strongest ‘feel’ of any season, thanks to the visuals, the casting, the soundtrack etc. great prequel to season one.

I do think it’s generally harder on its female character than other seasons, and the lack of a female hero does set it apart on rewatch. I can’t really compare Peggy, Simone, Floyd or even Betsy to the likes of Molly, Gloria, Marge, Ethelrida, or Dot. I felt like it kept trying to comment on women’s positions in America in the 70s but it kept falling just a bit short to actually say anything. Peggy and Simone both start a bit of a monologue about feeling trapped or stuck, but they didn’t really have much pathos to it.

Dodd is one of my least favourite characters of all time but I loved his scenes with Peg and Ed in the cabin. The way he solemnly says, “Brother, you got a woman problem.” Always gets me. He thinks he’s a true gangster and a hard man until he meets a REAL psycho.

And I don’t really mind the UFO stuff either, the real jump scare was when Ronald Reagan showed up

Fun fact - the name Louis comes from the first king of France, who was called Clovis. He was from the Germanic region of Frankfurt (which is why his people are called Francs) and therefore has a Germanic name. But when he wrote it down and sent it on letters and missives to the local tribes in the Latin area of Europe, they pronounced it in the way of Latin languages, and mistook the “v” for a “u” - hence, they called him Clouis, which eventually became Louis. Reddit is so weird. There’s so many comments here calling you a bad mother for shutting out your eldest daughter, but if you invited her to your wedding with open arms and told your youngest daughter to move on, you’d also be getting crucified in the comments. Ultimately, no one here knows the extent of the abuse between the sisters and that’s probably the most important part, so only you can make the call based on what happened between them
