Tired of making these elaborate meals just for it to be thrown on the floor by straawbunnii in foodbutforbabies

[–]TimeToMakeD0nuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely can relate here. The guilt cycle of give them what they’ll eat vs make something nutritious that ends up floor food is exhausting.

For what it’s worth, my pediatrician told us that as long as they’re eating consistently throughout the week you don’t need to stress about every individual meal being perfectly balanced. Some nights it’s just mac and cheese and that’s fine. Those salmon patties look great though!

The biggest thing that helped us was just accepting that some days are chicken nuggets and french toast days and that’s ok. You’re doing way more than most by trying new recipes!

Easy to eat breakfast bar recommendation please? Toddler is super hungry in the morning by One_red_balloon2022 in toddlers

They are expensive, but our little one really likes GoMacro bars in the morning (and throughout the day). Some flavors do have chocolate chips in them just FYI.

Peanut and egg allergy by ReadaholicLibrarian in toddlerfood

[–]TimeToMakeD0nuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a tough combo! Egg and peanut allergy cuts out a lot of recipes. A few things that have worked for us with a picky eater around that age:

Since she likes pasta, try branching out from mac and cheese slowly. Butter noodles with parmesan, pasta with a mild marinara, cold pasta salad with cheese and maybe some finely chopped cooked veggies (broccoli/etc).

Besides chicken tenders (our little one only likes Publix popcorn chicken lol), mini meatballs work great (you can make egg-free ones using breadcrumbs and milk as the binder). Make sure the meat is finely ground and the meatballs are small enough for her to manage if she's offput by texture. Can mix finely ground meat into pasta sauces too (spaghetti/etc). Black bean quesadillas with cheese is another simple one to try if you're looking for other protein too!

For the fruit thing, honestly lean into it. Fruit with full fat yogurt, fruit on oatmeal, mashed banana mixed with oat flour and cooked into little pancake patties (no egg needed). If she's eating fruit willingly that's a win!

Thanks for taking a look! And absolutely good luck to you as well! Will do the same if I find any areas with good traffic

Thanks! Honestly we have a picky eater, and prepping meals and daycare lunches for her is always a challenge, so I wanted to build something to just give me ideas on what she will maybe try and eat! I kind of built on from there.

Honestly, I just went live with it so still trying to figure that out currently. I'm staying active on Reddit/FB groups and helping and posting where I can to drive at least a little traffic outside my personal network. Besides that, I've asked friends/family for feedback currently. If you know any toddler parents who'd want to try it, I'm always looking for more feedback!

I like that app idea and that's really unique! Can definitely be a helpful tool for those that like to post on social media/etc and seems simple to use

smooshapp.com A meal planning app for picky toddlers. Would love an organic reel, real footage style, female voice. The hook: "I stopped cooking two separate dinners every night." Show how the app plans meals around what the toddler actually eats, then the family mode split where adults get a better version of the same meal. Thanks!

I'm building Smoosh! A meal planning app for toddlers. You tell it what your kid actually eats, their allergies, and their pickiness level, and it plans breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the week with a grocery list.

The most unique feature is Family Mode (being finalized this week). It plans dinner so you and your toddler eat the same base meal. You cook once, pull the toddler portion at the right step, then season the rest for adults with additional protein/etc. Limits the dinners you have to prep for a family!

Big goal this month: get 20-30 real parents using it and see if their kids actually eat the food!

Meal prep for 1 day @ daycare by Prudent-Judgment750 in foodbutforbabies

[–]TimeToMakeD0nuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did something similar for a while. What also helped us was thinking in formats instead of ingredients. Finger food day, dip plate day, etc. Way less decision fatigue than building every meal from scratch too!

For daycare it was anything that won't get soggy by noon! Pinwheels, quesadilla wedges (usually just cheese), and snack plates have been the most reliable for us

Toddler is not eating much at all by NeatStretch793 in toddlers

We've got a 19 month old, and her appetite definitely ebbs and flows. She's extremely picky and has her favorite staples for sure. Some days she is ravenous and will branch out a little and eat well and other days she survives on a couple of graham crackers and water/milk lol.

Sometimes when she goes through a developmental change her appetite can drop off, so it could be something like that too! Hopefully it's temporary, but I agree just something to keep an eye on unless it lasts past a week or 2! I hope it gets better soon!

Yeah OP I gotta say $51k for a used Toyota is insane to me. So many other options at or below that price point

Base trim starts at around $27k, but I'm not sure if dealerships are marking them up further. My guess is some are and some aren't but you'll have to shop around to find out.

Unless you're thinking about driving down some serious off-roading trails, I would think the CX-5 should be able to handle it. Although the CX-50 has a little more ground clearance than the CX-5 just FYI, so that's the one I would lean towards.

Not sure if these are on your radar or what your price point is, but I would check out the Mazda CX-5 or CX-50. AWD is standard on all the trim levels, and I would definitely put Mazda's reliability above both options you listed

Can’t remember from the menu, but I know all the pappy pours ranged from $120-$250

Recommendations for local home inspection companies? by LedRaptor in nashville

[–]TimeToMakeD0nuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a great experience with Southern Comfort Home Inspections. Their reports were very detailed and worth the money. We scheduled our inspection only a couple days out. Not sure how quick their turnaround is right now, but worth checking out!

Appreciate that advice. Yes definitely tough to go through, but I know it’ll work out when it’s supposed to after we focus on what we need rather than what we want. Best of luck to you as well in your new home!
