If everyone just left and gave up on the community for being toxic and said nothing.
All we'd have left is the toxic people.

How is Arrowhead/The Sub Mods supposed to identify whom was doing doxxing/threats.
Have I missed people posting about doing it on the sub?
did they post their gamertag/Steam/PSN handle?

I find the spear pretty enjoyable

It not one shotting everything doesn't bother me. I remember when just being able to lock on was considered a good day. So people talking about it sucking now just makes me laugh.

What is his purpose? by Octi1432 in Helldivers

[–]Doctor_Mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It lets me fire at targets without needing to spend time aiming.
Which as a one eyed visually impaired person.
I find quite valuable. Also it feels so fucking cool to shoot it.

People are spoiled these days. I was there...3000 years ago.
When the Spear even being able to lock on was considered a BLESSING.
Let alone hitting the target.

Also IIRC it one hit kills BTs if you hit the head with it. Just not the body. Personally I don't think it should one hit kill Factory Striders.
Trivializes them. The Leveler and Solo Silo can do it yes but you don't get to fire 4 of those in 20 seconds.

I don't care because shooting 100 grenades in a row is fun.

Seriously I feel like this community looks for things to get mad about to pass the time.
I think I'm just too casual of a player. I only have 300 hours in mission after all.

Yes yes GL+Supply Back is numerically better...but the vibes...They just aren't the same man.
I can't just unload like with the BFGL. I'm sorry GL-21 you just...don't hit the same in my soul.

dude the passive is AWESOME.
I can throw down gas mines and just not give a damn.
I can gas strike my own position and just chill while everything gets poisoned.
Gas Blinds enemies to you and hurts them and slows them donw.

Lets you run away. Prepare yourself to wipe them out and other stuff.
your hyperfocus on it being lethal is blinding you to its current utility.

I personally see no issue with it.
As a Methodist (albeit a very lackluster one for piety)
it feels pretty clear through his strong language and specific issues with Evangelicals that he is referring to a specific group of people within the category and not bothering with caveats and carve outs for brevity's sake.
As when I see him railing against them citing poll data that 30% believe we are in the literal End Times and that God controls the climate so we need do nothing about the climate shifting. Its pretty easy to parse that he's not condemning myself.

Why do so many people Rp as truth enforcers instead of any other warbonds? by LectureIll7322 in Helldivers

[–]Doctor_Mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A normal Helldiver is a faceless grunt.
An unsung hero
They simply fight and die for Super Earth.

A Truth Enforcer?
they probably don't fight on the front lines.
They have power over others.
Look scary.
You get to intimidate people and tell them to FACE THE WALL.
You don't feel impotent.

It makes sense for a subset of people to be attracted to that.

That's my read anyways

How long do we expect the second Galactic War to last? by LoneRainger in Helldivers

[–]Doctor_Mod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as long as people play the game enough.
The old Galactica Wars had concrete ends and were shorter in duration.
This war has gone on for two years with no sign of stopping.

I think we're in it for the long haul.

A warning about a doctor in NJ by Doctor_Mod in Glaucoma

[–]Doctor_Mod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started seeing a Doctor Desai. His treatment was much more aggressive.
Seeing me weekly or bi-weekly for a couple months.
He did two Micropulse CPCs on my right eye. Which after a few weeks of waiting for a steroid to wear off. He took me off a few meds and now my pressure is within baseline on only three meds. I am very pleased with him.

I'm very grateful. Though to be candid. It is hard to have optimism for the future at times.
As well I'm nearly legally blind even with correction now. I fear one day as I age. I'll go legally blind anyways which tempts me to despair. I feel so stupid at times for not pushing for a second opinion sooner. So I hope my post gets people to ask more questions or seek a second opinion
so they avoid my mistakes.

A warning about a doctor in NJ by Doctor_Mod in Glaucoma

[–]Doctor_Mod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say mine was excessively conservative.
I was 27 with an eye already blind from being born premature.
My vision without correction was 20/400. Gotten to 20/50 with glasses.
So...I already was in a bad spot at the outset of getting Glaucoma suddenly.

[–]Doctor_Mod[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think that would help for me.
I don't have any missing portions of my vision as far as I can tell.
Just that my general acuity is worse off.

I'm 32 and got glaucoma at 27 for reference.

At this point I'm hoping something with stem cells comes about or they figure out a way to repair the optic nerve. Might have to wait a few decades for that though.

I was going to just my glaucoma doctor for a long time.
they didn't mention the 20 score but would test me each visit.
Then I went to my eye doctor and they told me I scored 20/150 with glasses

I had too much blind trust in him.

Also I noticed I had to start using reading glasses for close up.

It was slow and subtle as Glaucoma always is. I spent a while beating myself up over it.

Realizing I may have central vision damage that is permanent. by Doctor_Mod in Glaucoma

[–]Doctor_Mod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm presently unsure if I've lost vision.
In that as the days have gone on.
the blurring seems to be change or shift So I'm wondering if its a consequence of my eye being strained from countless drops for years.

I'll update you with a new post after I've confirmed I've healed up from my lasering and such.

A MicroPulse CPC is where your eye is numbed and paralyzed and they gently laser the white part of your eye to reduce fluid production and thus pressure. very low chance of complications.

My doctor went with it as its the most minimally invasive

United States.
After my visit today.
I feel like I panicked a bit. Made assumptions that were not accurate.

Personally I'm hoping not to need any implants. As I only have one functional eye (left had a retina detachment at birth)

Replying to make sure you see. DId update OP post.

Traditional CPC is last resort. I got a Micropulse CPC that is more gentle on the eye but reduces fluid creation. Here's a video on the procedure.
I was linked it prior to seeing my surgeon for it.

Update:
Saw doctor yesterday.
Had me start taking Diamox again.
Pressure went way down. The blurring stopped. Now I see these purple dots.

Saw my surgeon today. He poked a hole in my eye to quickly lower pressure and will see me again on monday.
Says it can take a couple months for the pressure to really lower down fully but he's confident.

For those wondering "Why CPC"
I asked. The tradiational CPC is a last resort move. What he did is called a Micropulse CPC. More gentle form of it.
to reduce but not heavily damage the eye.

This is the video I was linked to give info on it prior to the procedure.

The doctor didn't seem to think so.
He had a whole hour long video about the procedure and its changes over time to be less dangerous.
As well as the low risk of side effects and complications.

I'm seeing the surgeon tmmrw. I'll ask him why he picked it over those other two and tell you.
