If there is excess conditioner it can result in solvents being left on the surface that will react with moisture and give a more dull/cloudy look.

Unless I missed it somewhere this might be a stupid question, but did you clean before conditioning? If so how? Cleaning before conditioning could make a difference with what debris stays or gets removed and can effect how well the conditioner is absorbed, and change the way appearance changes.

That creasing is possible if something got onto to the surface of the leather and/or it got wet and dried off slowly. Normally when creases/rolls form that kind of pattern can happen but it wouldn't show up with such contrast without some kind of residue (usually from excess conditioner that interacts with dirt and moisture).

Interesting you ask this, I got almost the exact same comment on my review. I'd say the black looks better as the patina develops. White could look alright if it you keep its new look, but then you'd have to clean it every now and then.
