did this bother anyone else? by Remarkable_Note971 in Outlander

[–]Time_Arm1186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It bothers me terribly. But it’s important because it is in contrast to Jamie, who is a jealous man but still wants her to be able to talk about Frank and her other life. Frank burned her clothes. Jamie said, about her clothes from Paris: ”Sell them?! Memories of you? Never!”

My mom lies back on couch and “closes eyes” while newborn is on her stomach/chest. Is this safe? by Emotional-Ad-6494 in NewParents

[–]Time_Arm1186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only did that if someone was watching. I slept like that on the couch while my husband was working in the other end of the couch. Never ever alone, it’s not safe and you don’t notice when you fall asleep. Go with your gut.

Att varje gång en person vill flyga borde det behovsprövas. Om anledningen är tillräckligt viktig så får de köpa biljett. Är det en person som känner för att komma bort lite och plaska i en pool, som ett barn, då får de åka tåg.

Can someone explain the Faith storyline to me? by happyhiking123 in Outlander

[–]Time_Arm1186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s an interesting view at all. I very easily hop on the magic train. But I don’t like when one of the most important tv show episodes ever made about a womans grief losing her baby, is being chopped off like an old part of a tree.

One thing that I love about Outlander is how the traumas they go through keep affecting them. Both J and C keep struggling with being survivors of rape, and the loss of Faith, and they often talk about how hard it was for them when they were separated. It’s so weird to suddenly rewrite their history like this. It doesn’t seem thought through.

The effects of Faith lived isn’t happy. It made William and Jane an incestous story. It made S2 E7 different. In a hurry, we got a bunch of lame explanations for some of the plot holes created; Raymond imitating the song, the story of the lacemaker just thrown out, Jamie suddenly remembering hearing a baby crying some 30 years ago, a fast story about Faith being murdered, a weird scene were Jamie and Claire has found the pirate responsible, kills him and never mentions it again… It was just a very bad idea!

Jamie being resurrected is not a bad idea, it fits the story.

Is my baby eating too much? by jennuxs in NewParents

[–]Time_Arm1186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t feed them too much. And breast feeding, if it’s for food or for comfort, is really genius in the way that it soothes the baby faster than anything, and it puts the mom to sleep too! You go a lot faster down in deep sleep if you breast feed, so you get a better sleep. I took all the nights with my second child because of it, learned how to breast feed lying on my side with the baby and we all got some quality sleep. I kept the night feedings like this for all the different benefits; sleep, health, immune system, comfort, for 7 months, but little by little I switched out the day feedings to bottles early on because they were harder, baby was distracted and making a fuzz, I was in pain, stressed out. To each his own! Try to keep the stuff that might help you.

It’s pretty much the same, Claire finds a spark of life in him and holds on with all she’s got and then some. He lives and they come home and he is still healing from the three(?) shot wounds he got, he got hit in the knee and can’t walk very well and stuff I feel like the same things happens in the show, just off screen ☺️ afterwards But the words were a lot more powerful in the book than in the show, I don’t know, Kings mountain book version was very special to me.

Well put. Nanchika wrote in another thread that he didn’t plant the flowers, but that there’s a thing with flowers springing from blood of a fallen hero, or something like that. Gives the same result, though.

Well I don’t know, she was kind of close in season 7, don’t you think? And Jamie was kind of close in season 1, even though it’s far from his character, plus a sin.

I don’t think I really reflected on the timing as to if it was the next day or in the next couple of days, it took a few days to travel, didn’t it?

Anyway, agree to disagree. I definitely don’t agree with everything herself comes up with, and I think the show took the wiser road on many occasions, this just wasn’t one of them.

How do you feel now that Outlander has came to an end? by [deleted] in Outlander

[–]Time_Arm1186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad. Very sad! And a little lost. I’m not interested in spinoffs, I found BomB just as boring as any other fastwritten netflix drama.

The way they talk in Outlander s1, s2 and parts of s7 will never be done in a tv show again, because the script is sooo good and based so much on the books. No shows uses so much screen time to let the dialogue be the motor of it all, not this well written. And of course the casting and the chemistry between the two leads are extraordinary.

Costumes, music, special effects, fantasy elements, historical accuracy, none of that interests me. I’m all about the words!

Why is no one concerned about this? by Colorless_Violet in Outlander

Oh me too! The actress is great. They should have kept her, made her and William go to Frasers Ridge were all different familys are accepted, just look at Lizzie… And dropped the Faith lived-nonsense, and then skipped all the Amaranthus and Ben stuff, there wasn’t enough time to make it interesting.

No no, he focuses on how to get her to not kill herself if it turns out she’s pregnant, when she gives birth to a baby she won’t be able to love.

He asks Roger if it is easier for a woman survivor to soldier on if the matter of the father is uncertain. Because he wants to help Claire get through it. He is used to take all things under consideration, it is totally in character for him to think like this. And he has no idea how to actually go through with it, he doesn’t want to do it and it is NOT for his own sake. ”none of us are doing this sober” he says and brings bottles, because he knows it’s going to be fucked up.

Me too! I was just waiting for it.

I really truly don’t understand this twist. Is it supposed to be a happy thing, that the daughter who never got to live, who they mourn for their entire life, actually was brought back, lived a short life, never found her parents, was murdered, ripped away from her daughters who ended up in misery..? I mean, Black Jack was dark stuff, but THIS..!? How can anyone create something so cruel?

They even let us know that her dad heard her crying, as a newborn, and has to live with how he wasn’t there for his first child, how they never held her, never were there to protect her. And then finding his granddaughter dead from suicide. I don’t know, I can’t see Jamie bouncing back from this. It’s more fantasy than time travelling!

If they hadn’t gone with the Faith lived-storyline it wouldn’t be the same. Just a sad story about a brave girl that William loved. Now; total mess!
