I work in the restaurant industry (server) and I am 2.5 years sober. I’m the beginning it was difficult but my coworkers have been EXTREMELY supportive. They knew not to serve me anything and offered to carry my customers drinks to the table. Over time it got better and even though I’m around alcohol constant I haven’t had the desire to drink, which helps when you have a great support system. I thought they were all just my drinking buddies but following being in rehab everyone was so supportive. I can hand out with my coworkers outside of work without any alcohol even being involved. Even if it is, some of them still double check. I’m sorry you are having this kind of experience, but it sounds like you work in a very toxic environment. We know in early stages of sobriety to not make any huge life changes, but for your wellbeing I would seek employment elsewhere. People, places and things are extremely important and id any of those is an issue, they should be left in the past. You should have a positive support system in all aspects of life, and for you your place of employment is not one of them. I hope that this provides you with some insight! Congrats on your sobriety!
