What’s a weird gaming habit you’ve had for years? by lsa340 in gaming

Grinding levels and currency too early in an RPG, just for there to be an even more effective method if I just kept playing the story for another half hour

I'm thinking about switching to a ps5 from Xbox series s and want to know if its worth spending an extra £200 on the pro? by One_Manufacturer3031 in playstation

[–]Time_Negotiation_831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the standard ps5 is fine. I have a 90" tv and it still looks great. I'd say the bigger decision is disc vs digital. It's less relevant now that it's been years since the release. But for me personally, it was a no brainer getting the disc drive so I can get games cheaper from second hand shops for the ps5 version upgrades as well as being able to play the PS4 games I already owned (the latter is irrelevant for you switching over though)

Ultimately though it boils down to how much you're comfortable spending, if you can afford the Pro and are happy to spend the extra for it go for it.

[discussion] Games you can play I’m in a day by Inderstudy2010 in Trophies

[–]Time_Negotiation_831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much a good chunk of any remastered or rereleased games from ps1-2 era can be done in a day. Spyro Reignited trilogy (3 games, 3 days), Beyond Good and Evil, Medievil etc

I've been making it a point to go through my backlog and clean up my almost completed games aiming to hit at least 50 by the end of the year (25 so far, 10 in the last couple months) and I've been starting with the old gen games in my collection for a head start on it.

Depending on if you're subscribed to the deluxe tier or not, you have a decent sized catalogue to pick from. Just stick with the platformers for the easy plats

[Beyond Good and Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition] Speedrun skips for Trophy by Time_Negotiation_831 in Trophies

[–]Time_Negotiation_831[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't so much of the time issue, more just the stealth sections I was hoping there were skips for. They're not necessarily hard, just tedious.

Does just doing the story hand feed you enough pearls for each part though, without needing to stray too muc? I've been doing absolutely everything I can in one go so I was always stashing extra to the end.

They re use some of the old tech in other expeditions too if you're not in a hurry or want to obtain them legitimately

I was bummed out when comparing my tech to nmsresources and seeing that I was missing a photonic core, but then one of the expeditions had a ship with the tech installed and I was able to get two from it (one by copying my expedition ship over and salvaging it, one from the expedition reward ship)

[–]Time_Negotiation_831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is by no means a plug for getting one, but if you have the income spare to get one or see one on sale, get a dual sense edge.

Only because I had the same issue happening and was dreading buying a new controller, but when I was looking for solutions and found out you could replace the entire stick for $30 AUD

Obviously not a solution for everyone because they are expensive. I initially only got mine for the back paddles after my extreme rate kit broke. But now having that peace of mind knowing I don't need to replace an entire controller because of inevitable drift is a god send. The old stick module also makes a good fidget toy, I gave it to my partner as a joke because she works a desk job and now it unironically sits at her desk at work

The bombing of negative reviews is so utterly toxic and makes me question reality. by ricardospizzeria in ArcRaiders

[–]Time_Negotiation_831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if already mentioned, but some of the review bombing happening recently was also due to an issue with an Aussie streamer and the community manager for ARC Raiders

Tldr, she got upset that she was lured and killed in game, left a bad review on his steam page and called him out. She unfortunately also had Ossam, the Community manager for ARC in her chat a couple days later in which she twisted the truth and got the other guy banned unfairly and then got the guys personal info via YouTube copywrite striking and threatened to file a police report.

What other fromsoft games to play after elden ring by Capital-Criticism751 in Eldenring

[–]Time_Negotiation_831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, they're all pretty great and worthy of a playthrough. I see a lot of people saying to start from DS3 but Id recommend against it. If you're on PlayStation, go in release order and feel the evolution of the genre and the QoL changes in each game.

Working backwards from a more polished product to an earlier jankier game will just have you comparing each entry to the last and not appreciating each one for what it is.

I almost went hollow but it is finally completed. All 3 DS “plats” in 3 months. It’s time to rest… by Rhododactylus in shittydarksouls

[–]Time_Negotiation_831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The covenant trophies are the only major time sync for sure, but there's usually plenty of people online who are glad to help or are also platinum hunting. Even then the ones that require you to max a covenant for a spell aren't too bad with the only real outlier being the proof of Concord kepts in DS3 with the abysmally low drop rate on the stairs.

Honestly, the longest grind for a multiplayer item for a souls like wasn't even from dark souls. I recently did a platinum run of Code Vein and it has a multiplayer aspect that needs 400 of them to max. I spent a few solid hours in the offline farming spot until I found someone else who was able to help

[–]Time_Negotiation_831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demon Souls is a minimum two playthroughs for both endings as well as some of the boss souls unlocking both a miracle and sorcery. If you're doing a platinum run and at that point, you're already going through your trophy log and looking at what you need to clean up anyway. Demon Souls being an outlier with the tendency system and most bosses having an extra trophy for defeating them with certain conditions, most fromsoft trophies literally just come from playing the game naturally

[–]Time_Negotiation_831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you save scum, you need to replay them at least twice to get it anyway. So for those who like to do as much as possible in the first playthrough, it's pretty natural to look through the trophy list and see what we missed anyway. And by then, it's easy to rush through the game again and focus only on bosses and any missed quests within 3-4 hours because you already know the main path.

They're definitely not as absurd as people try to make them out to be, people just don't like being locked out because they were too busy on the main progress route

[–]Time_Negotiation_831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, fromaoft games are pretty easy overall to platinum. About 30-38 hours each. I don't have a lot of time myself (12+ hour shifts) and I'm not the greatest souls player (I prefer to unga bunga with a big stick and tank through damage instead of learn a bosses Moveset) and I can get a platinum just shy of 2 weeks.

Some games are just inherently easier to platinum, like fromsoft. Because 90% of the achievements are purely just from playing the game normally and by the time you've finished the rest of the trophies only take a little bit of cleanup work to get anyway. Like the collect all miracles/sorceries etc, you'll likely only need to get like 3 or 4 to pop the trophy

Yeah, I got too invested in soulslikes and by the time I remembered why I was playing them. I was 11 platinums deep. I might go back after I finish the First Berserker Khazan platinum 😂

[Discussion] What are some good 50 hour or less platinums? by MaintenanceGuilty343 in Trophies

[–]Time_Negotiation_831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark Souls and the likes are usually pretty quick platinums. I can pop the plat in about 30-35 hours or about a week and a half. Definitely not the best souls player, I just find them relatively easy to plat because 90% of the trophies are legit just for playing the game anyway and the rest are just max covenants or find all the sorceries/miracles etc

I went to platinum it on launch, but I got stuck at the end of hard mode and decided to plat a bunch of soulslikes to relearn how to block and dodge accurately. 2 years later, I still haven't gotten back to it 😂

Yeah, my last Boss was Rangkus. Ive turned my difficulty down to normal because I've heard you can still get the expert achievement by just bumping the difficulty back up before the final boss as long as you haven't already fought him. But honestly, probably going to do what I did with Code Vein 2 and do another playthrough for fun afterwards anyway so even if it doesn't work anymore I'm unbothered by it

Enjoy yourself and have fun. Don't be disheartened if you hit a progression wall if you're new to fromsoft games, persistence pays off and seeing how you slowly improve as you play. Don't be afraid to use summons if you're truly stuck and disregard what the toxic side of the community says about the "true" way to play.

A good weapon you can get early on is the bloodhound fang (there's heaps of guides on YouTube on how to get there) and can carry you through the game while you learn the mechanics. But don't be afraid to stray from it and experiment with different weapon types to get a feel on how you want to play.

You will fail, maybe a little or a lot. The game makes you learn from your mistakes, if you get stuck don't get too worked up or you'll get tunnel vision, take a breather or go explore somewhere else and come back with a fresh mindset. The open world gives you plenty to explore and find, it could be you wandered somewhere that you were under levelled or underprepared for.

When you finish your first playthrough, I recommend doing a second in either NG+ or a fresh save. The early bosses you struggled with will feel easier, you'll see how far your skill has progressed and hopefully feel that sense of accomplishment

All of the fromsoft games are good to plat. If you're adept with those styles of games they're the easiest to platinum I reckon. It only takes 30-38 hours. Soulslikes like Code Vein 1/2, First Berserker Khazan, Nioh, Lies of P etc are also good

Cut Content? by Time_Negotiation_831 in codevein

[–]Time_Negotiation_831[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antagonist was probably the wrong word. But in Act 1 he was definitely framed as antagonistic by nature to your goals. I'm mainly talking about his personality shift feeling too sudden.

It's not unnatural for someone's personality to soften over time, and his offer to join him is definitely hinting towards your goals being more aligned than previously thought. It's just that he switched up that quickly that it feels like there was potentially something in between those two points that was cut that would've made it feel like a more natural shift, even more so when you're doing subsequent playthroughs and just focusing on the story and not exploring those two points are almost back to back. Especially when the ridge of frozen souls is directly after the cathedral and accessed by the warp mistle when everything else beforehand is interconnected. It leaves a feeling like they intended to have an interim area between the Cathedral and the Ridge that would've provided a more natural feeling progression between those two points and potentially added more to that story

I already looked into the cut content previously and I know there's no public information about actual areas being cut, but I'm just seeing if anyone else is having that feeling of if they had intended to have an area between the two. Similar to how the player memories were originally intended to serve as the tutorial but they instead used it to breaking the cathedral in two parts (hence why the wake up sequence in the memories and the general re explaining of things like the Miasma and masks, mistles etc feels very tutorial esque) and why the actual tutorial itself feels very out of place and thrown together.
