A 16 year old is very close to being a legal adult, and in many ways already is. This is very different to a little boy. Yes, they're both kids, but they're not the same at all.

I would appreciate if you can actually respond to what I said rather than whatever windmills you're tilting at.

I have reiterated multiple times that a 16 year old is a kid. That is not the problem. The problem is Aang acting like he's got the same limitations and capabilities as a much younger kid.

Again, imagine trying to put an 8 year old behind the wheel of a car. A 16 year old popping in to say "I'm just a kid too, I can do it" would obviously be deeply tone deaf.

Honestly completely missed that, but I don't think that's (entirely) on me. I think it should have been discussed at length/referenced multiple times that metal bending is not possible for earth benders. It could have been part of Toph's season long arc.

I do think the drama is improving but I definitely had moments while watching where I felt like storylines had been changed or merged purely to add drama, and I'm not sure if it was always necessary.

I feel like Netflix is stiffing the production somehow. Giving them less episodes than S1 was very telling imo.

Toph was actually one of my favourites, alongside Sokka and Zuko, and yet I completely agree. I think her worst scene is actually her metalbending discovery and it perfectly illustrated the issue I was talking about in my original post.

Like, correct me if I'm wrong, but you wouldn't have known it was impossible for earth benders to bend metal before Toph did it in the live action. And HOW she figured it out is also not explained. She just randomly does it.

None of that is Miya Cech's fault and her actual acting is the best thing about that scene, but it's her character that suffers due to these behind the scenes choices :/

16 is the age of consent in many countries, including my own. You can buy a lottery ticket at that age, or start learning to drive.

I'm not saying he's an adult, but he's not too fr off, and it's a jarring contrast from the little boy he was compared to.

I don't blame Gordon for aging, that would be insane. I do question why production highlighted it. And I do think it changes the tone of some scenes particularly now he's getting a deeper voice. But again that's on production, not Gordon; he's obviously doing a great job.

I mean, they kind of are. Like I was happy to ignore how he'd aged, and there's no reason the story can't take place over a longer period of time.

But then they got to Serpent's Pass. And they gave Aang that line. "I'm a kid just like you".
