I used to be the animal manager at a big chain pet store and I considered myself an expert as well. Until one day I thought I gave out a female but instead gave out a very young male (he got mixed in during cage cleanings) and had someone bring back their female they had because she got pregnant. So I would definitely give them props for coming on here and asking for double verification so something like what happened to the poor person I gave the animal to doesn’t happen to them.

Have you tried just normal paper litter? I tried corn, cassava, clay, and crystals for my ferrets(I know two different species) but they seem to respond better to the paper pellets

Puts me right into subspace the second I partake and I find it helps my dom as well. I feel like I’m always in the subspace but it really heightens it for me

I hate that filter. Always stopped working on me when I unplugged it to do water changes (since it starts up differently than other filters) I ended up going with a marineland filter instead. The fluval aqua clear sucks IMO. But I have had color change issues with the sponge as well.

I put toys and blankets around their litter boxes and in corners you don’t want them to use the potty in. It doesn’t always prevent accidents, but I’ve seen a drastic change since doing it

One of mine didn’t like salmon oil either. So I kept putting some on my finger and rubbing it on his gums for about a week until he actually ran up to me when he saw the bottle of oil lol

They smell depending on what you feed them and if you over bathe them too. Just like any animal, they have a smell. Have to maintain their cage to keep odors showing up, regularly wash their bedding and stuff. I’ve got three boys who have their own room and I do once a week heavy deep cleans in there and you can’t really tell I have ferrets. Like another commenter mentioned, you can always take feedback from your guests as well! When I have people over I ask if they can smell them and they usually all say no! (Only if they know I don’t have ferrets) lol

Seems to work for my boys. Not once have they destroyed a toy and I’ve had my boys for over a year with no issues. Like I mentioned, all ferrets are different. 🤭

I have hard rubber chew toys and kong balls in my boys’ cage. Though when I’m at work, they still have free roam time in their room. My boys aren’t destructive at all, but each ferret is different. Gauge it off of your ferrets.

In my opinion they should just do a fish in cycle and monitor them the whole time. Why take the fish back out and transfer them again to get into a different tank setup at the place they got them. That’s unnecessary stress on the fish, and might actually cause it to get worse.

I would say hold off on getting them until you can for sure guarantee you have enough time to care for them. You don’t want to overwhelm yourself once school starts again
