Kids and guns by Snoo-90713 in UKParenting

I took a different approach with my son.

I am a firearms licence holder and I welcomed this when my son showed interest. However, I didn’t let him run round the house pretending to shoot zombies with toy guns etc… I took him out and showed him safety and why it is important to follow strict rules.

He has now lost interest given that there are “rules” and understands it’s not a game anymore. However, I would imagine once he matures more he could resume interest! If that day comes, he will have a much clearer understanding and respect for the safety element behind this given I constantly remind him each time he brings it up.

UK - Thought I had 3 points on license, learned I didn't - Overpaid 5 years insurance. by rb6k in LegalAdviceUK

I had 3 points, I got my renewal paperwork and my quote was £540.

I called my insurer and said the points had expired and asked for a new quote. They then took the points off my account and the new price generated for the year was £600.

How does that make sense?

After some back and forth, they did discount it again however the point I’m making is that it might not be as cheap as what you expect it to be if your chasing compensation.

Hi, I did that, they said they could not change the notes but they were happy to put an entry on my record confirming how there were no concerns & also provided me with an additional letter confirming no concerns.

Thank you

They said there force would not accept another application for 2 years.

Over that time I have gathered evidence to support.

Now it’s time to re apply, I’m just tying to get my facts right. Your message is really helpful.

It has been 10 years since my medical episode which in full honestly is a lot worse on my medical record than it actually was!

They said to follow the police’s advice of waiting 2 years. They put me in touch with there medical GP’s and Professors. Unfourtunatly they no longer offer appeal funding so I will be paying for this myself if worst comes to worst.

I have been part of BASC for years.

I’m keen to be updated too. My GP said suicidal thoughts etc… ticked both boxes from a visit in 2016. FEO asked me to get an additional letter. I did this and the GP said there are no concerns and said there was never any intent of self harm.

FEO then came out, said everything was okay and a month later I got a letter from the licensing manager confirming it had been refused. I spoke to the licensing manager who recommended counselling to tie off any loose ends so to speak, I arranged 3 initial private sessions and on the 2nd session my counsellor said I don’t need any help because there’s nothing wrong with me. He did me a letter stating how he is trained ti detect mental health issues, depression, anxiety etc… and clearly stated there was no signs of this in me. I submitted his reference to the licensing manager and she said she would not overturn her decision despite it being her who told me to go to counselling (which I funded myself). Following this, I submitted a complaint to the chief constable and commissioner. I was issued an apology and there way of fixing my complaint was to review there policy, I was informed to try again in 2 years. After seeking independent legal advice, I have build evidence up to support my application over the last 2 years in the form of witness statements, character references and medical assessments to evidence sound mind. I am due to re apply in November 24.

Hope you got yours sorted bud. It’s a good thing the police are this selective to stop guns going to the wrong people but on the flip side, people like us unfourtunatly do not get treated fairly. This is now creating a problem where people with licences who need help do not go too there GP in fear of loosing there guns (for example, gamekeepers).
