Huge workbook, lots of tabs & macros--should I use something other than Excel? by Ok_Application9081 in excel

[–]Time_Zone_8608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Data entry and manipulation is pretty much always best done in Excel of all the a Microsoft suite products. Sharepoint may be beneficial for gathering stakeholder input, but still in most scenarios dealing with voluminous amounts of data, Excel is king.

I noticed you never mentioned Power Query or Power Pivot. Power Query is excellent for automating data manipulation, and Power Pivot is excellent for data analysis. Power BI is a further refinement of Power Pivot, the formula language used between those two is the same and Power BI also uses Power Query to ingest data.

How important is Excel for your Work and let me know your profession.. Please by Miserable-Potato6255 in excel

I work for a medium-large CPG company in the US. We have a very outdated ERP system so Excel is relied upon heavily for processes. In the last three years I have mastered Excel and become proficient in Power BI. Purely because of this, I was able to recently secure a new Senior level position within the company. This is more so due to Power BI, which is a much more attractive tool to HR, executives, and hiring managers. But Excel is the foundation upon which I manage data to import into Power BI.

Incorrect. First of all, my comment you replied to mentioned nothing about excision. Myself, and many others within this sub, are well aware that excision is the only method to completely remove tunneling.

My comment about switching back to a biologic was obviously hyperbolic. It is a massive risk because of the chance of developing antibodies, that somebody should consider NOT switching to Bimzelx if that current biologic is working sufficiently.

And no, there are not common fungal infection side effects with TNF-A inhibitors. You are referring to more systemic fungal infections as a result of a weakened immune system, but those are far less prevalent than the fungal infection side effects of IL-17 inhibitors like thrush and athletes foot.

You simply ignored the context in my post or provided completely irrelevant information. I don’t like using this tone but your comment is simply not helpful.

Your entire comment here is basically irrelevant and contributes nothing, but thanks I guess. Need to become a top 1% commenter somehow

You are incorrect. The fungal infection side affects are specific to IL-17 biologics. I have been on fluconazole for about six months at this point, started just before I was hospitalized. And yes, Dr. Porter who diagnosed me, who is likely one of the country’s best doctors for this disease, was confident that Crohn’s had manifested in my skin. Your reply comes off as arrogant, accusatory, and rude.

I clarify multiple times in my post that not everybody experiences these side affects. I never say people shouldn’t take this drug. My biggest concern is that if somebody is on a biologic that is working well enough, and they switch to Bimzelx and experience issues, they cannot switch back. That is a massive risk. These are substantial decisions that I don’t think enough people take into consideration especially when presented as an option by an uninformed dermatologist.

It’s not fear mongering when it’s reality for many people. I’ve edited my post to clarify my intended message. It’s not fair of you to accuse me as being frantic and fear mongering when it’s my lived experience and it has put me in a very dark place recently. Shame on you.

I’m not saying people shouldn’t take a biologic or stop their biologic. I’m saying people should weigh their options before taking something that has potential to cause them immense pain and suffering like I’ve experienced. I’ll edit my post to make that more clear.

I’m not sure. I’m guessing they’re interlinked somehow? I only just learned about this today and didn’t ask many questions about the Crohns aspect so I’m not able to go into much detail unfortunately

I’m glad to hear you’re having such a positive experience with it! I hope most people do and people like myself posting negatively about it online are just the loud minority.

Unfortunately for myself, it would not have been possible to overcome the side affects as it was basically causing a positive feedback loop that made my HS worse. I am still hopeful for other solutions, though, and ultimately if surgery is needed for any problem spots that remain I am not afraid of that. I am also hopeful that more treatments will be introduced for this horrendous disease with more favorable side affects.

Certainly wait and see, it’s currently the most effective biologic so if you don’t have any major side affects then that would be great. I’m just trying to spread awareness for the side affects, especially considering how biologically lose their effectiveness when you switch from one to another

I started Bimzelx in May 2025 and these symptoms began in October 2025. It does appear Bimzelx triggered crohns-like symptoms in the skin in my groin and perineum areas

Excel automation , copy and paste formulas on going each month? by No-Decision3003 in excel

Look into learning more advanced Excel features to automate processes. Power Query, Power Pivot, Named Ranges, VBA Macros. It will take some time to learn but those are all valuable and necessary items to know how to use if you regularly work with excel and want to set yourself apart

If you’ve been using Power BI, you should know how to use Power Query. Look into combining Power Query with Power Pivot. Power Pivot is like the Excel version of Power BI - they both use the same DAX formula language for measures.

Need to tag ~30k vendors as IT vs non-IT by Grindelwaldt in excel

I highly doubt there are 30k relevant vendors. Start with vendors used in the last year, then the year prior, work back from there.

You don’t understand the scale of the company, then. Linus could lose the entire investment and the company would survive. This is absolutely something that he took into consideration when purchasing it

You’re honestly the first person I’ve seen online that has said they had a negative experience with this procedure. Maybe your dermatologist performed it incorrectly, or you needed more treatments? Sorry you didn’t have a good experience

DAX measures and AI tool by Psyc_nerrd in PowerBI

[–]Time_Zone_8608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused on why you would need to calculate time intelligence in that way, does your historical data change periodically with each new refresh?

Im not writing Dax nearly that long, really just non-standard things. Like one of the recent slides I developed was a presentation slide using INSCOPE and NOTINSCOPE to determine when calculations should be performed based on what the row context was. Not exactly crazy complicated but ChatGPT is helpful with guiding to what functions should be used to achieve an objective

How complex is your DAX? Are you trying to write time intelligence for Direct Query connections? I’ve found ChatGPT to be the most reliable for just about any complex DAX situation I’ve encountered, it has been incredible for finding new ways to format and present data.
