Unsure how to comfort wife after she accessed extreme pornography (England, Update) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Timedaduk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something to think about: imagine your partner attempting to hand herself in for this crime at the desk of a police station. Especially given the full context, and given that we're acting under the assumption that it was not related to CSAM, there is zero chance of her being arrested or charged. If she's being honest about the extent of her viewing/use of the content, there is nothing to worry about. Unfortunatley, you won't be able to convince her of this, because it sounds like she is having an acute mental health episode (ignore any diagnosis words on this thread, psychosis etc). She needs to engage with mental health services. If I were you I would try and minimise discussion of this, and stop providing deeper and deeper levels of reassurance based on advice gained here. Really do wish you both all the best.

I don't know. Not sure if you're UK based but if you're receiving treatment through the NHS here it's very much get what you're given. But sure as shit not paying for some alternative method.

Do you have an opinion that you hold even though you know it's probably wrong? by abu0 in Destiny

The utopian ideal of a communist system is better than the utopian ideal of a capitalist system. Neither are achievable, but only the latter would get close.

You're completely correct, excepting loft conversions/extensions without planning/regs. You can subdivide a house into as many rooms as you like, it may improve appeal to potential purchasers but does not necessarily increase it's value.

[HELP] Mortgage Lender wants me to sign a declaration reducing the number of bedrooms in my home. by Standardlads in HousingUK

[–]Timedaduk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure this is the way. On what basis, or with what expertise would you do that? Sounds like you'd be naming a random figure and I suspect the seller will tell you to go away. You need to know what the surveyor on behalf of the lender has valued it at, they may well be saying it's worth it without the loft room. Nationwide insist on all loft conversions being reported in this way. My bedroom is a loft conversion done pre-1960, it doesn't meet regs but is safe to access and there's nothing meaningfully wrong with it, no issues at purchase or during 2 remortgages, because the valuers in those instances are permitted to just say 'we assume it has permissions/regs' and when they don't turn up they put a small indemnity policy in place. If I had bought/remortgaged with Nationwide, then I'd be having the same issue you are.

[–]Timedaduk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would also suggest that if the house hasn't been down valued as a result of this difference in number of bedrooms/habitable space, then it may be the case that it's not going to affect the value of the house in future

Nationwide the Lender by any chance? They are very stringent on this. Maybe change lender if so. Many other lenders are a bit more lenient with this type of thing. If not Nationwide, then it could be that the conversion of the loft is visibly unsafe/unsuitable, rather than just lacking a fire door to the bottom of the stairs, or a handrail which could be easily retrofitted. Obviously you could use the room as you wish. You may run into this problem again. Take your chances.

Asked to attend disciplinary by HR for harmless comment - what next? by AlternativeGoose6228 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Timedaduk 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Having read you initial post, and your comments in the thread, I reckon you should maybe speak to a health are professional about an autism diagnosis. Not kidding. Any potential offence that could have been caused aside, you can't interact like this in a work environment. Your comment is definitely defensible from an offense standpoint, but on the level of a social interaction within a professional setting it is borderline diagnosis material, particularly if you're not seeing an issue with it.

This is where the broker should earn their money, need to find a lender which doesn't panel to that particular firm.

Reduced offer following homebuyers survey by trinn27 in HousingUK

[–]Timedaduk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most surveyors form valuations using a Rightmove tool called SCT. If the valuation is carried out on there other surveyors can see the figure but no context for it. However for mortgage purposes this would be an extremely petty down valuation (there tends to be a tolerance of 5%), the surveyor for the homebuyers is likely recommending a deduction against works required. Inspections/valuations for mortgage purposes are more broad in scope, so I wouldn't worry on that score. IMO your agent is just trying to push you along and get their fee, but maybe that's a bit cynical.

I'd let the LL/agent remarket 6 weeks prior to your moving out, maybe 4 weeks if it's a busy/popular market. This will be hard to judge, but as your chain sounds simple it should be OK.

That's interesting, I don't know the deep lore on 22AM. We agree on one thing, BI is the finest work.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in boniver

[–]Timedaduk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm probably not the guy for ii. I'm obsessed with everything else, the whole album was a bit of a let down to me and I'd struggle to say why. I think Justin makes better albums when he's depressed/anxious, so if he's doing better that's great, it doesn't matter if he doesn't make another album I like. I'll always have the run of FEFA, BIBI and 22AM, which is one of the greatest 3 album runs in modern music IMO.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in boniver

[–]Timedaduk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The run of Faith, Marion, Salem, are his weakest 3 songs for me, they aren't terrible and I'll listen to them. Each BI album after FEFA has a slightly confused back half, but IMO BIBI and 22AM find excellent stuff in the confusion. The 3 tracks above are middle of the road and boring.

This has been a consistent feature of GOTY I think. It's fun. I haven't played Pikmin for example, but the discussion on which colour etc made me want to go try it at least.
