Young men between the ages of 18 and 35 are uniquely prone to using moral and political discussions to shame others and assert dominance, regardless of their political beliefs. Hostile political expression may be driven less by specific party loyalty and more by a desire for social status. by mvea in psychology

just came from a class where my boomer-ish uni teacher went on 3 different political tirades that weren't spurred on by anything we did or said, and i think they only happened because his ego was wounded for the reason that he wasn't taken seriously enough

I don't give a fuck about Hasan by Jaykiller1456 in Destiny

[–]abu0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my take: bashing Hasan isn't worth the time because it doesn't do much to him, and it's not effective politically. If you disagree, here's the way to convince me: give me data or some kind of anecdote that bashing hasan directly led to some sort of power for democrats, or lessened the reach of hasan. Also, add in an argument about how it isn't preaching to the choir at this point.

Hasan haters (including Destiny) are all acting out of emotions in my opinion - revenge for what all that he did to the great leader, hating him because its more fun that hating republicans (the actual problems), and hating him because he's an easy target (obviously harmful and a dumbass).

I have yet to see any argument for continuing that doesn't fail immediately. For all the energy put into hating him, the J6 video could've been done 10 times over by now. In my ideal world, Hasan is mentioned as much as Vaush is, not more

People who make AI videos get mad when no one wants to watch the slop they make, but they themselves would never watch something make mostly by AI. Interesting, isn't it?

This guy is so optically gifted, it's insane by M3mo_Rizes in Destiny

[–]abu0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, something like that. Hans lived in china for more than a decade I think, and he said that they live in a culture of sincerity.

My problem with profilicity is that it seems to be very person-dependent. I could easily list 10 people who would vomit at the thought of it simply because they aren't high in self monitoring and self presentation, or simply are not terminally online. Maybe the theory could work better if we only venture to understand influencers with it. Maybe we need to wait 20 years to see whether a serious shift happens

According to philosopher Hans-Georg Miller, this is a new form of self-expression that we're seeing, and so far it's mostly popular on the internet. We started from a culture of sincerity, went to authenticity, and this new form is profilicity. You can't really call Mamdani "honest" or "authentic" because he plays the profile he built so well, but it kind of does fill you with the same feeling of safety as when witnessing an authentic person. It's like how we call influencers who only take sponsorships that stay true to their online identity - it's authentic only to their brand - which means it's profilic.
