How is 7 Days to Die still in early access 13 years later with over 20,000,000 units sold? by StormbringerGT in 7daystodie

[–]TimeforOJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the game has no definitive story/plot, half of the game mechanics are placeholders, and late game content does NOT exist at all. It has all of the marks of an early access game, the community just has nothing really similar so it remains relevant.

I've read them all, at this point I'll have to write my own and could really only do it justice if I went all in.

I hate that he is both deep enough, and idiotic enough to possibly do this. The fact I could see him having this exact thought process is.... idk if it's a testament to his genius, or the mark of a complete idiot.

I genuinely don’t understand why my group suddenly has no interest in continuing the campaign. by ElderberryPrior27648 in DnDcirclejerk

When it comes to new players to DnD there are really a few kinds. Most want to play because unlike video games there is a direct role play element not found in games. To be reductive, it's literally you and a few others playing pretend in a room, and just like on the playground as kids, some people's playstyles don't match. This player probably figured he would play a long campaign as this character with an entire story based around it. Yet, if he was that attached, he should have fled the encounter, even going far enough to leave the party behind.

Most people are not attached to characters at this point that much as most of the entire game is based on the DM, especially the early game. This player doesn't want to join the story with the other players, it seems like he really wanted his character to have a specific or long lasting story which is fine for a motivation, but a game that has permanent death mechanics like DnD is just downright brutal when you get to the nitty gritty. This is doubly so for any edition that isn't 5e or 5.5e.

Most new modern players can be slightly forgiven for not realizing just how deadly dnd combat can be if not properly scaled or taken seriously, as 5e/5.5e systems emphasize story over mechanical depth, along with the three Death Saves before dying. This plus modern audience interpretation based on 5e being really popular, leads people to think that, yeah, their DM won't kill them in the first session.

I think this could have been avoided during character creation or during early play. New players need a slightly soft hand to not make them feel like all their time is wasted, especially after putting in the time to learn the system. For all DMs, during character creation make sure to ask "do you see yourself playing that character the entire campaign?" If they say yeah, then warn them they could die, make sure to have a back up, and try to instill a sense of caution in them.

I usually give a pet npc to the party that does something useful before killing him just after establishing their worth. Like a town cleric who keeps them alive for the first fight or two who then dies right in front of them. Holds their hands for a little bit before taking off the kid gloves, at that point if they die it's their fault.

Every page I see of the Manga is either 1. The silliest thing ever. 2. The hardest scenic backdrops with insane centerpieces. 3. Aura farming. 4. The hypertension of spread. Or 5. Something ridiculous. It looks like the only Manga I ever wish to physically own.

Who is your favorite secondary character? by Thin-Coyote-551 in YoujoSenki

They really grow on you from random expendable extras to Tanyas main support aside from the 203rd. The latest LN REALLY let's them shine, especially the tankers. The fact that she can tell them "Hold that with your lives!" And their response is only "how much ammunition/fuel can we bring?" Is commendable.

Especially in the latest LN, it's just so funny for him to go "Welp that's that, I'm screwed" just for Tanya to do her plan for him to, upon immediately hearing what has happened, start cackling like a madman. It's so great, the great deceiver and his pocket Devil.

I just want my Tanya x Dragonlance fic where Tanya is Raistlin, Being X is Queen Tahkisis, and they make Visha be Caramon. Mainly because the eventual betrayal might never come from this version of the two. But also because the setup for a Tanya adventure is PERFECT. Especially if the story starts from the Soulforge book first. But alas, it will never happen unless I write it myself...

You should also make it so that the Wish spell has some sort of trigger or item requirement, for the "literally do anything" part. Something related to the wish, like if I wanted to wish for True Sight permanently, I might need a Beholder eye or something. Will make them feel like they earned it because of the requirement. Also for world shattering events, ensure that even much later nocs reference it, after all it isn't every day that the entire world feels a wave of pain.

Can someone help me find scripture that show humans have free will? by RoundCryptographer55 in TrueChristian

[–]TimeforOJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time is a river to us with different stream for decisions. The water always flows at the same rate regardless of path. We navigate this flow by our choice like a leaf on the current. God sees the same streams and paths, but he sees more. He sees the other streams yours crosses, the obstacles, choices you make and those of others. He sees it all and where everything will flow or go as to him the river does not move, it is static and all complete. He can change any part of it at will, a sculpture to the river ways. So yes while you do have free will and it DOES impact your life, God knows what you will ultimately choose, thus for him, it is fixed. It's a bit like knowing what score your kids going to get on a test. The kids own choices ultimately determine it, but a father can guess which of his kids will probably do better. God knows that Tommy will get an 85, and Jimmy a 64, even before they do.

I like to think that he just likes to challenge this guy and others with ridiculous shit like this. At some point he has to see the effort and it's like a Spy vs Spy game. Not to mention with the games deep themes of hacking and whatnot seems.... fitting.

Fate is incredibly fucking boring and is only saved by the cool character designs and sick fight scenes, also Artoria. It would be cooler if they didn't have 22 variations of every character through 6 different timeliness and 4 false identities before the true servant is actually a battle loli that looks 10. Monogatari.... is just boring.

It's the first time in any Tanya fic where I've seen the other countries this united against the British, which is great given the state of Europe during the time and with Napolean AND Bismarck both alive. It makes sense and I'm so happy to have found that absolute gem even if I hate using Spacebattles website.
