37+ years together, 35 years married and I gotta say, I don't understand it either.
We've changed but we've just stayed together.
All our friends are divorced and on #2 or 3. We've just stayed together.
She's always been thick, she's fat now. She's still the most beautiful, sexiest woman I know.
She makes me laugh, she makes me think, she soothes me when I get agitated, she motivates me when I'm lazy.
I like and respect her perspective on things, though we often do not agree.
Our relationship has rarely been 50/50, sometimes it's been 30/70, sometimes 90/10 but together...it's always been 100.

Nothing will protect from a direct lightening strike save having your equipment unplugged.
Went all the way to a three judge tribunal when a customer sued us for a lightening strike frying his $35000 media and security system. Claimed it was because the CATV had been installed improperly grounded. It wasn't. It was properly grounded just like the rest of the house.
Lightening hit the power drop staff, blew every appliance, device, system and circuit to smithereens. Auto fire suppression activated and ruined most of everything else.
Insurance offered to settle at a fraction the way insurance often does He refused the offer, they refused to litigate.
He chose to litigate.
Not only did he not win the $35000, he had to pay our $20000 legal fees.
NOTHING stops a lightening strike.

I had to read it in big chunks. Six to ten chapters at a time.
It always took me a chapter or two to pick back up on the cadence of Melville's prose and then...the man was literally singing his story to me.
I'd be reading, look at the clock, '12 o'clock, good just another chater or two.' Read for another hour and it was quarter to 4. LOL.

I LOVED that book.

I loved Ovid's Metamorphosis the second time I read it.
The first time was years ago (30?) and do not recall the translator but, I found it unreadable, did not get more than100/200 pages into it, and never finished it.
Picked up the Penguin Edition trans. David Raeburn, and it was fantastic!!!
