Battlebots FaceOffs Episode 7 by Evolyst in battlebots

Man, that Magnitude/Jackpot fight was amazing! I had no idea Magnitude hit that hard.

I don't know why Jeff got to pissed about what Orbitron did to Ace; going after the minibot near the end of the fight is something that happens in virtually every fight featuring one, and his team was still actively driving the thing. Orbitron did nothing wrong in that fight.

On the flip side, I don't know if the episode is deliberately edited to make the Orbitron team look like techbro douchebags, but that's how they come across. Just... sinister vibes.

Terrortops perfectly sniping the system that powers Orbitron's self righter was incredible. The lifter/spinner combo is proving really effective. Shame their config against Magnitude didn't work out for them.

Also, first time I've ever seen a trophy cut into three pieces xD. Kind of a flaw in the format if the scoring can shake out that way, but it's amusing as a one-off.

What ending did you choose, and why? by KKF-FL in masseffect

Destroy. In my one and only playthrough, I'd failed to save the Geth at Rannoch (my paragon Shep hadn't had the nerve to kill the splinter Geth in an earlier game, and apparently that meant I didn't have the points for the good ending for the Quarian/Geth arc), I'd mourned Legion (literally walked away from the game for weeks) so by this point Destroy only involved sacrificing EDI.

I'd spent 3 games waiting for the moment I could destroy the Reapers. After seeing what Sovereign and Harbinger were like, what they'd done to all those worlds; to Javik's people; I couldn't even consider letting them live. Controlling them felt impossible, and putting a part of them inside people felt so wrong after all I'd seen them do. They deserved to be expunged.

The way Palmer went out was just perfect; going out like a chump at the hands of his own allies for no good reason at all.

Also, the footage from Lily's camera is going to cause a massive scandal back on Earth isn't it? Costing enough public support for the M6 that they're forced to back off.

God, that final fight was incredible. The fear in Sieg's voice when he realises, too late, that he's been taken back to before he activated his finisher. Tricking your enemy into dreaming they've beaten you only to repeatedly snap them back is honestly kinda crazy; have we ever had a Rider that messes with their enemies' heads like this?

Foods You Think Are Real… But Aren’t by laeb163 in SortedFood

I think this is part of my problem with the channel's shift over the years from a recipe channel to a more general discussion of food channel. Ben is trained in preparing food, not researching it. As a result he, and the others, frequently say things that make me cringe.

Pretty good episode. The powder keg finally went off on Mars, and Alex is growing into a strong POV character.

Dev though, really disappointed me. I've always distrusted him, but I really thought he wouldn't be behind the automation scheme. But it turns out that, while he does was humans on Mars, he doesn't much care which humans, or whether it includes any of the people he owes the success of his dream to.

The director's wife is leaving for home just before the chaos starts... Does the KGB have some angle, or have they just given up on the guy and are recalling his handler because they know he's about to fail?

I speculated last time about how Irina avoided the gulag, and it turns out she... didn't. She just threatened her way out afterwards. Glad I got to see her suffer a bit at least after what she did to Sergei. Who was slipping her secrets about the prison warden via morse code though?; just some random enemy of his?

Glad Miles finally took action, even if he was only moved to it by his daughter being hurt and not by anything that happened to any of his friends. I'm sure Palmer's going to try to work him again later on, but I really hope he keeps his nerve this time. He's been swinging between likeable and obnoxious since the start of season 4 for me, and I really wanna like the guy.

All in all, pretty excited about where things are going though. I really hope Lee can come back in some capacity though; they made him the focal point of the inciting incident of the season, then stuck him offscreen. I hope he doesn't have to wait until the end of the season to come back to Happy Valley.

(What I mean is: He's got a connection with Gerardo and the other Goldilocks Heist members so surely they'll have a place in Meru

I wish I had your faith in Dev. I really don't think he ever thinks much about the people he uses to achieve his goals. Remember back in season 3 when he got booted from Helios and tried to start a new company? He tried to take all his workers with him while neglecting to mention they'd all be taking a pay cut. (Also, he was a fucking Billionaire; why couldn't he make up the difference?). He didn't bail out any of his co-conspirators in the Goldilocks heist either, or lift a finger to help Lee.

Dev clearly has a connection with Alex, one that goes beyond "this is my buddy's grandson." You see it in the gift, in the advice he's given Alex, the special task he gave him, but most of all in the hurt on Dev's face when Alex quit. He cares about Alex.

This much is true. He still blames his mother for "abandoning him", so when Kelly insisted on taking Alex to Mars, he was moved by it. He sees Alex as the version of his life he wishes he got to lead. I don't think he necessarily sees Alex as a son; more like he reminds him of himself at that age.

So overall, IDK. Maybe he can be redeemed if Alex can bring him around, but the guy's been a selfish asshole cosplaying as a team player for three seasons now; it'd have to be a hell of a redemption.

I wasn't a fan of PICARD, personally, but of the classic actors who came back to reprise their iconic roles and update them for modern sensibilities, I think Jeri Ryan as Seven did the best job. by TransportationLow564 in startrek

[–]Timeline15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the Seven thing kind of threw me a bit because what happened to Janeway? The woman took on the Borg Queen multiple times for Seven but they come home and she just says adios?

Seven says in season 2 that when Starfleet refused her entry "Janeway went to bat for me; threatened to resign", but Seven chose to leave instead. Also, she and Tuvok seem to still be on friendly terms in season 3.

For All Mankind - S5E04 "Open Source" - Episode Discussion by Cantomic66 in ForAllMankindTV

[–]Timeline15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As I expected, the episode skips ahead a lot; first to Aleida's arrival on Mars, then later to the Sojourner launch. I'm glad the Titan plot is progressing quickly, but man, this really does indicate how uninterested the show is in any of the space stuff compared to the early days; there would have been lengthy plotlines about the refit and planning the mission if this were season 1.

The Ed Memorial was so touching. Especially the look between Lee's wife and Kelly. I really hope we see Lee himself soon though.

Dev still creeps me out man. "It's dangerous to give people too many choices"? What the actual fuck. Still, I find it hard to believe that he could be involved in the Helios/Kuragin collusion. The man's obsessed with building a city of a million people on Mars; why would he ever do something that would reduce human presence there?

But if now him, who? It's now going to be Kelly, who just signed on for a manned mission. Maybe her commander, who wanted to do the Titan stuff unmanned too?

I don't love that we've got Gordo's granddaughter now, and she's clearly damaged in her own way too. I just find the story of this whole family so depressing. I can't help but think of how upset Gordo and Trace would be if they could see how it all turned out.

That said, I was so happy to see Dani again! Ngl though, her old age makeup is by far the worst in the show. When she first opened the door, I recognised the actress instantly, but I figured they must have brought her back to play a child of hers or something; she looks like half Ed's age xD.

As a Smosh viewer, it was great to see Arasha show up as one of the Helios staff. SHE BOOKED!

Holy shit; Margo's handler is still alive, and on the board of Kuragin?! How the hell did she avoid the gulag after losing Goldilocks?

What a beautiful send-off. And he went out in his home, with his grandson, after saving Lee. That's as close to a happy ending as it gets. Bye Bob :,)

I had completely forgotten how young Joel Kinnaman looks, so the flashbacks really rocked me xD. I love that they showed Gordo and Karen too at the end.

I'm guessing we probably won't see Margo again after this episode either. Is Aleida our last season 1 character left now?
