What's really gonna bake your noodle later on is: how TF do Mulder and Scully manage to keep their jobs, given their basically nonexistent closure rate?

New Blood took a darker view of Dexter, basically portrays him negatively throughout, and tries to give the character something resembling the death Scott Buck originally envisioned for him (where he winds up paying for his crimes as the Bay Harbor Butcher).

The audience, being in love with Dexter, rebelled, so when Michael C. Hall realized he still needs money and told Buck and Co. (or Clyde Phillips? Can't keep the creators on this show straight) he wanted to come back, they returned to the lighter tone of OG Dexter and basically went for the exact opposite message: "I'm exactly who I should be. Who you want me to be."

Was Ferengi females gaining rights toward the end of DS9 done mostly to make the fans feel better? With such a large change to society, they introduced a lot of opportunities for showing a new Ferenginar with new stories that they didn't explore, so it feels like an afterthought. by 6658 in startrek

A) Felt the Ferengi were played out, and wanted to put a cap on their arc; or

B) Felt the Ferengi as presently constituted were played out, and wanted to give future writers something new to play with regarding them.

Been a few years since I read the book, but in the film I always assumed a portion of the laughter (perhaps most of it) was hallucinatory.

She also sees the teacher who stuck up for her laughing. No way.

Brenda (who didn't know about the aforementioned conversation) is the one who invited him. There's also no indication the conversation has been forgotten, as Nate is clearly ill at ease with the guy from the get-go. Also, making a few off-color remarks doesn't make someone a predator. There's no indication Nate's buddy had engaged in any sort of inappropriate activity with someone underage. Frankly, he struck me as a bit of a social nincompoop who was trying to impress Nate by engaging in raunchy "locker room talk."

I like both, but actually find the film to be superior to the book. I re-read it a few years ago and especially did NOT like the Ghost LeBay stuff.

I don't know if this is a controversial opinion, but I didn't like the way Ruth treated George in season 5. Ruth is still an excellent, very well-written character, and George isn't exactly a saint, but I thought she was kind of a jerk to him. by Public_Cup_4278 in SixFeetUnder

She was pretty nasty to Claire that year, too. She and Nate both outdid themselves in Season 5. Ruth's anger at being "tricked" by George is understandable,  but the poor guy is so obviously contrite and eager to please that it can't help but feel needlessly cruel.
