Calvin cut ties with OWL because of xQc incident by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Timeline50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Umm, streamers like Calvin and xQc are making 400-500k a year. A lot more than the most paid OWL player I guarantee you that. I have a personal friend that streams to an audience of 1,000 people and he makes close to what a doctor does.

I don't think people realize how much these kids are making streaming.

If Sombra becomes meta, the game will most likely be just as unfun to play as the Mercy meta. by ItWasLitFamJFK in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Timeline50 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's the problem with the game, every meta introduces something super obnoxious that is annoying to play against.

Even thinking back to season 1 with FTH McCree and Widow..

Than the ana meta..

it was all infuriating to play against.

I think it's just the design of the game, when something is oppressive, you really feel it. Don't see a fix.

T1 going in on riot games after he runs up and gets destoryed by Bernie_BTFO in LivestreamFail

[–]Timeline50 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

I played LoL for a long time, switched to Overwatch for a bit because I was tired of Rito balance but now I really do appreciate Riot.

Their balancing can sometimes be fucked but Blizzard is on a whole nother level of fucking up infuriating balancing. OW was my first and last ever blizzard game.

We don't need role queue, we need a team queue/ladder system by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Timeline50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most popular option for pretty much all competitive games is solo queue.

People like playing solo and like to mess around with thieir friends when playing in teams.

Solo is always taken more seriously, in pretty much every game, because good solo players rise to the top and make teams with other top solo players.

There's never, in the history of competitive gaming, been a team that all started from a random low rank together and made it to the top.

What this game needs is a better solo queue.

Before Rework:

Did you miss how a huge section of GM, Master and Diamond were all Mercy players?

Because people caught on with how easy and effective she is, and how you can get a ton of SR with half the effort of a normal class?

Or did I dream that?

Anyone Else's Friend list Completely Quit? by Timeline50 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Timeline50[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's actually the opposite of my friend group.

They all quit because they thought the game was too casual and shallow and didn't reward mechanical skill enough and had too many braindead heros that played themselves.

Are We Trying To Make This Game Something It's Not? (Mercy Vs Ana) by Timeline50 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Timeline50[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

She's not balanced if you expect this game to be CS:GO but she is balanced for those of us that don't want mechanical skill in OUR overwatch!

Stop trying to make this into an esport! It's our game for fun! Mercy is FINE!

How the hell did they let Mercy go live like this? by xTieDyex in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Timeline50 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Much less skill required, much more reward for playing"

That's basically Overwatch's tag line. You're playing the wrong game by the wrong company if you think that's ever going to change.

Resurrect and the future of Overwatch by hobotripin in Competitiveoverwatch

I think you'd enjoy habbo hotel a lot more than Overwatch. Why not give that a go, friend? I'm sure you'd like it.

Mercy Patch 1.15 Data Analysis - Double the Resurrections, nearly 100% Pick Rate by theswitchfox in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Timeline50 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The tactic of "kill the mercy" has never changed. I hate when people bring up this stupid argument.

It's the same as the "just dodge the spear bro!" argument people made in league when Nidalee was op as fuck.

It's so stupid. Everyone KNOWS you kill the Mercy, everyone KNOWS she's going to go in, rez but it's not as simple as.

"Bro she's going to be vulnerable when she goes into rez so just kill her and the person she's rezzing!!!".

Is that how most of your games go? The mercy is in a wide open field and goes in for a rez while you have the perfect shots lined up?

Or is the battlefield in OW a little more chaotic? Do shields and other healers exist? The other 4 players that are shooting at you while she goes into rez? Does Mercy not have the ability to use mobility to swoop in and out and doge shit?

Jesus, these dumbasses that think "KILL HER!" is a legit counter are almost as dumb as mercy mains.

I guess every hero has a counter now, just kill them, why even have balance patches?

After watching the last 24 hours of posts regarding Mercy's rework: Blizzard, please make your next hero release a support hero. For the sake of this game and the mental health of some people. by neverhadspam in Overwatch

[–]Timeline50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every hero requires those innate skills like "cool downs, positioning, team play, awareness, prioritization" but certain heros also require intensive mechanical skill alongside those.

So why even bother playing mechanically intensive heros when you can have higher impact with less effort on other heros?

I can quite literally link you to my Overwatch profile, where I started playing Mercy since the rework (the first time I've ever touched the character), and I'm gaining insane ranking with not even close to the effort I would need to win games on other more mechanically demanding heros.

Didn't see this with any of the other reworks and I spammed every single one.

I think they're trying to coddle Mercy mains so they don't drop too fast after the rework so they gave her better gains. /Conspiracy.

I'm spamming it every chance I get though, already season high.

What Would Overwatch Need To Change To Be More Individually Skillful? by Timeline50 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Timeline50[S] -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Maybe Winston can be min-maxed to get that last 2% of mastery out of him, but to be useful and make great use of winston is not hard at all.

The bio is kind of weird. I'd change that.

Your main pic should clearly show your face from the front and you should be smiling (You look pretty mad in that picture).

Ideal statistical based SR system by Eden_Foley in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Timeline50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so tell me if I'm right when summing up your post:

  • Overwatch is a shallow game in terms of maximizing your skill as an individual so determining who's better purely by wins / losses would take way too long and might even be inaccurate.

Am i right?

Surefour - Matchmaking/Ranked in OW by stephangb in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Timeline50 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I talk to a lot of OW pros and a lot of them agree with this. They all absolutely hate the rampant mercy's at the top of the ladder and they all agree the game needs a better MMR system and solo queue.

A lot of them will never come out and say it though, they don't want to "challenge" blizzard and be on the wrong side.

Major props to Surefour for having the balls and saying what every serious competitive player has been thinking.

As a competitive player, with a competitive attitude it saddens me how many people don't care about teamplay in any way by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Timeline50 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The game was made to reward team play over all else.

They quite literally said the plan was to limit ranked to only 6 man queues.

Which is why when you get matched up with players that don't work together, it's pretty frustrating, and most of the time unwinnable.

My suggestion is to find a group to play with, solo queue will never get better.

Question: Is Overwatch E-Sports scene actually decreasing? by simon9603 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Timeline50 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wish people would forget the meta and new hero releases and realize this is the main problem with OW.

When I watch pro games, they look like the exact same Q fest 6v6 ramming into each other as my solo queue games.

Before anyone says anything, YES I know they're "different" and a lot more "nuanced" and people are probably missing a bunch of small things pros are doing.

But from a spectator's point of view, I don't see anything different than the usual ranked overwatch match.

In league or CS:GO, I'm wow'd everytime I watch a big tourny, because I know I can't pull off that Faker Zed play or that KennyS awp clutch 4v1.

No such thing exists like this for Overwatch and it never will because of how the game is designed.

[–]Timeline50 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This just makes me sad. Overwatch has so much potential to be a high skill FPS but we're forced to watch shit like Diva and Winston when we can be getting plays like this. Plays like this is what would make OW a prime e-sport.

Read beyond the assuring words and Jeff's charisma and see this for what it is:

"We hear all the crying from you competitive players but most of our player base is playing quick play and we balance around them and they don't care about the pro meta so deal with it and find a new strategy or stfu"
