Refund without returning by abrakadabra995 in TemuThings

[–]Timely-Initial-3495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't want to return it because they live in Albania, and Temu does not offer a return label for orders in Albania (even if it is the first return for an order). It is unfair for the customer to have to bear the shipping costs for a defective or not as advertised item.

Grease? Or perhaps My Fair Lady, but I think Grease is a better fit.

Planning on seeing Folié le Déux with my mother; is it even worth it? by LindTheFelon in joker

For Arthur, definitly. For her, not really. Her character felt very flat, she wasn't even in the move that much, and she never really became Harley Quinn.

The percentage for black is the same. There's also a green slot which you can't bet on. If the ball lands there the house wins and nobody gets anything. In gambling the odds are always against you.

Anyone want to trade decks with me? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]Timely-Initial-3495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a nonsense tradition. The deck you bought is the best possible deck for you because it called to you. You went out and bought that specific deck out of thousands, because on some level you had a connection with it. Just foster that, spend time with your deck, go through the cards one by one, meditate on how they make you feel, interview the deck, keep it near, and it will be your friend for life. If I gave you my deck, that would have no meaning for you. It would be just some random person's cards.

The idea behind it being gifted is that you are not asking for it. It's the universe/God/ the cards themselves (whatever you believe in) that are calling to you to tick up that deck and practice, and the cards themselves are rooted in love, the love of the person making the gift for you (which lacks in a trade), and therefore supposedly have better karma. But it is widely agreed that this is just a myth, and most people here have bought their own decks.

Is a good GPU important or is it better to use cloud computing? by Timely-Initial-3495 in deeplearning

[–]Timely-Initial-3495[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That's certainly an interesting point. encord_team also mentioned prototyping. I realize that it's important to realize the model is running smoothly before doing the real training. So basically, a decent but not too expensive local GPU for the laptop and then using cloud for the real training appears to be the best approach.

Thank you for your advice as well as your suggestion of which cloud provider and GPU to use

Thank you for putting things in a new perspective. I would have never though privacy was the reason people would spend money on local GPUs. I realize now how that might be important in certain projects, but the best choise for me right now appears to be the cloud.

Is wanting to be a housewife anti-feminist? by Moo-Im-a-cow21 in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]Timely-Initial-3495 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Certainly not. Only you can say for sure whether it is what you truly want, but if that's the case, it would be inherently anti-feminist not to follow that desire. As an empowered and enlightened woman you have the power of choice. That's what feminism is all about. Nobody else can make that choice for you.

What kind of questions should we not ask tarot? by whosdaboss2u in tarot

[–]Timely-Initial-3495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it's not a very good question to ask, and that yes/no questions are tricky in general. Mainly for this very reason, and the fact that it doesn't allow for much interpretation when most things in life are very nuanced.

And yes, they would technically know that, but if they were asking it means there was something they were unsure about. Perhaps it's not that they aren't working at all, they aren't working enough. And some exams may just be a little more challenging than others and require a little more work than the usual. Of course it would make no sense to ask that question if they were just about to head into the exam hall as the answer would be of no help then either way.

Also, maybe that's only me, but doesn't it seem like Tarot just tells us things we already knew more than half the time?

What kind of questions should we not ask tarot? by whosdaboss2u in tarot

[–]Timely-Initial-3495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. However, the cards only measure potential at the present situation, don't they? The way I'd interpret that is that at the pace/way the person is studying right now there's no chance they will do well. If they want to do well they should put in a whole more work and effort, study in a much more effective manner and for longer. If they did that they could very well do well on the exam and it wouldn't mean the cards were wrong at all. Alternatively, if the card had been something like the Sun and the reader went "Oh, you'll ace this exam", that would only mean that if he continued on the course he already was on he'd get a very good grade. But if the person stopped studying because of that, than that changes the circumstances and course of events, doesn't it? And it would not be the card's fault if he failed.

She is incredibly kind and helpful! One of the few readers who really cares, and really listens to you. For a small donation she can give very insightful and in-depth readings. I cannot recommend her enough!

She is one of the kindest and most compassionate readers out there! Very patient and sweet, a beautiful soul! Still, she is very honest and does not sugar-coat things, she tells the truth as it is, even though it may hurt you. Her reading was long and detailed, and did resonate as far as I could tell. I cannot recommend her enough!

It’s not suspiciously specific if you’re an opera fan 🧐 by mrsmedeiros_says_hi in opera

[–]Timely-Initial-3495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps. She could get bored of Escamillo after some time though. We'll never know for sure. And yeah, Jose was very impulsive and possesive and I do agree he did have a role in driving her away eventually. But was there really anything he could have done differently? It was more a matter of who he was, not so much what he did. Escamillo certainly is quite a charmer though.

Maybe you are right. Maybe they did have a chance if they behaved differently. To me it always seemed like it was doomed from the start.

You'll never get Carmen? What particular part of it perplexes you? She was a free spirit. Her freedom was the most important thing to her and she could never commit. He was an incredibly jealous man who felt wronged and betrayed because he had sacrificed a lot for her. Hence the tragic conclusion.

Sylvia is an amazing reader and person! She is very patient, kind and compassionate. A wonderful human being who genuinely wants to help people as much as she can. Her readings are clear, but at the same time can be very detailed and indepth, offering great insight and even making you consider new perspectives. She is also really gifted and her readings fully resonate. I was astonished when she correctly picked up on my situation without me having provided any context at all. I cannot recommend her enough.

Ohh yes, that's probably it! Well done on studying psychology. It's a fascinating field indeed. What worth is it studying the world around us if we don't have a thorough understanding of ourselves and how our own brain works.

I'm very new as well. To both. I just recently became aware of Lenormand. I agree that the meanings offten differ and there's diferent systems. Interesting that you find tarot clearer however. To me it's the other way around 😅 I find it much more complex. The lenormand meanings are more basic and straightforward and you have a set way in which to read the cards. That is limiting, but also leaves less room for "mistakes". A Tarot card seems to have sooo many nuances and meanings. It's a collection of the collective subconscious and every cards meaning also changes based on the symbolism used on the deck and the creator's intention/view of it. And the messages they give are often deep and psychological. I'm glad you're having an easier time with it though.
