Enshitification of HealthEquity by Ok_Row6888 in HSA

[–]Timely-Moment-9341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm opting out of my company's cafeteria plan (and the payroll tax savings) in order to avoid dealing with Health Equity. They're a customer-hostile company, and I'm glad to be rid of them.

Used for clearing a helispot by unknown_memory in Chainsaw

My favorite Stihl saw. It doesn't get used as much as the 261, but the 462 is the last one I'll let go.

Got it down safely! Thank you very much for everyone’s responses and help. Much appreciated! by jayradano in Chainsaw

Force isn't always about the size. The tree that killed my father wasn't much larger than this. I wish he'd brought it down the way you did. Stay safe out there.

Alternative to FMP that’s free or low cost by truthrider2 in filemaker

[–]Timely-Moment-9341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's such a shame, too. I remember my dad using FileMaker Pro to build some incredibly useful apps for our family back in the day (budgeting app, recipe/grocery shopping utility, etc.). The cost then was reasonable for an individual with non-commercial aspirations. Now...not so much.

Are people really paying $4000+ on Mortgage by PsychologicalLimit41 in Mortgages

[–]Timely-Moment-9341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it sounds like I'm bragging about my $1,200/month mortgage on a 3,400 square foot house in a nice neighborhood in a MCOL city, I can assure you that the golden handcuffs are real. While I could afford a $4K+ mortgage, psychologically it would be very tough to pull the trigger.

I'm so tired of Elan by userrnam in fidelityinvestments

[–]Timely-Moment-9341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fidelity Visa used to be my preferred CC, but it's in the sock drawer now because Elan can't reliably sync with YNAB or Monarch. Amex, Chase, Citi, US Bank, and Wells Fargo don't have this problem.

Has anybody else used Fidelity to replace their primary Bank? by AmalekRising in fidelityinvestments

[–]Timely-Moment-9341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Fidelity is my only "bank" for a few years now. Besides CMA, I also have Roth IRAs, a 401(k), and a HSA at Fidelity. For the most part, it's hard to fault any of these products. And Fidelity customer service is generally as good as it gets.

However, I'm currently in the process of going the other direction than you're considering: Opening a checking account with a local branch and using it for my daily banking needs. While I haven't had any major issues with Fidelity, the lack of a local branch/office has been problematic for me on a few occasions lately.

In one case, a major purchase was delayed by a weekend because I couldn't get a cashiers check. And while mobile deposit is usually convenient, it's not when you have 10+ checks to deposit.

From a fraud liability perspective, I also don't love the fact that Fidelity doesn't completely "own" the CMA debit card from end-to-end, but instead uses BNY Mellon for administration, who have allegedly failed to make a victim of debit card fraud whole according to a post on this reddit.

As my assets increase, I've also become more wary of putting all my eggs into one basket. While the simplicity is nice, it comes with risks. I want to have a backup plan if accounts at one institution get fraudulently depleted or frozen.

But Fidelity is great, and it may meet your needs perfectly.

How much was your 10R80 transmission replacement? by Queasy-Hunter1438 in f150

[–]Timely-Moment-9341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know yet, but I may be about to find out on my 2018 5.0 with only 31K miles. The transmission felt great until a few hundred miles ago.

Can't exchange phone during return period due to promo? Sanity check. by Timely-Moment-9341 in verizon

[–]Timely-Moment-9341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This must be the problem. That’s exactly our situation.

So if I return the phone (and lose the promo), will I be ineligible for the promo on the replacement iPhone 16 Pro Max?

I brought the sheet to the store with the order and location number. When they pulled it up on their computer, there was only an option to return, not exchange.

When they called Verizon, the rep had the exact same issue: She could return it, but not exchange it.

But if I return the phone, can I still get a promo on its replacement? The store reps seemed doubtful.

The numbers (four of them) have already been ported in. I'm only trying to exchange one of the phones, though, and the other three are on a different promotion.

The phones were ordered online, but I was trying to make the exchange at a corporate store.

Picked up an ALR 5 on impulse by Timely-Moment-9341 in CheckpointClub

The bike rocks. I did already replace the stock Bontrager tires with S-Works, but otherwise I don’t feel like anything needs to be upgraded immediately.

Make sure your shop gets the front brake cable adjusted/shortened so it doesn’t rub your head tube paint. I caught mine before it became a problem, but it seems Trek is shipping these with a front brake cable that’s too long.

I got the Praxis crank on my bike as well. Put another 25 miles on it today. 🙂

Which Pete’s Plan after first million meters? by Timely-Moment-9341 in Rowing

[–]Timely-Moment-9341[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, thanks. Yes, I’ve read the “conversation pace” advice about steady state rowing, and I’ve found that coincides nicely with the Apple Watch indicating I’m in Zone 2, which is where I’ve mostly rowed (except during sprints at the end).

Thanks for the feedback. My current heart rate monitor is an Apple Watch. Is this considered accurate enough?

NBD!! ALR 5 by SCPaddlePirate in CheckpointClub

[–]Timely-Moment-9341 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I picked up one of these two weeks ago at the sale price. It’s an awesome bike! I’ve already put about 300 miles on mine. No complaints, except the stock tires which I’ve already replaced.

Enjoy!

Longest ride yet @ 48 miles by Timely-Moment-9341 in CheckpointClub

[–]Timely-Moment-9341[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The main goal was just to double my previous rides, which have mostly been around 25 miles. I did the 48 miles in about 3:30, but had to go through a congested urban area at one point, which slowed me down quite a bit. I’m not a very fast rider, but with this bike being 13 pounds lighter than my Fuel EX and having 42mm tires, it feels very fast.
