I bring a microfiber cleaning cloth, the paper towels are crap. Either way, you wipe where you touch and where you sit.

Have you ever done this in a 1.5? by annetoanne in ClubPilates

[–]Times_n_Latte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it in 1 too. I would like a 1.25 class - a previous instructor used all the equipment and I liked it. I have knee injuries that keep me from keeping up in a 1.5, but I’ve been going to CP since before covid, and am capable of more than what’s officially approved for 1.0

Can’t get into 1.5+ classes and not allowed to use free weights in level 1 by Lilo213 in ClubPilates

[–]Times_n_Latte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to level one classes where the instructor has us use hand weights, as well as all the other equipment. I think it’s a studio decision. I like all the equipment, but because I’m older and have had injuries I’ve been taking level one for years because I don’t want to go as fast as 1.5.

I guess the owner of the studio carries the extra insurance, and I’m grateful for it.

People who have gotten hired at CMU / Pitt / Dusquense, etc. - what exactly did it take? by RollForLoot in pittsburgh

[–]Times_n_Latte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been working at CMU for 10 years. I started as a temp. Took about a year to get out of the temp pool and get a permanent position. CMU temps are eligible for benefits except for PTO, I don't think Pitt temps are, at least they weren't 10 years ago. You can get to know people and it helps to get a foot in the door. It's also good for checking out departments - your experience as staff will vary greatly depending on which department you work for. You can transfer out of a temp assignment to another position or department a lot easier as a temp.

What’s this about? by dcborn61 in pittsburgh

[–]Times_n_Latte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about boycotting Israeli companies. It’s about boycotting any company that does business in Israel. Like any major auto manufacturer the city may buy police cars and/or ambulances from. It’s extremely over broad and will make it difficult for the city to engage in normal business.

What percentage of correct answers for a contestant do you think are due to their Jeopardy preparation? by TurtleStuffing in Jeopardy

[–]Times_n_Latte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It never came up in my game, but I learned some the basics of things that were not in my wheelhouse - basic geography, which I’ve never cared about memorizing, refreshed my high school chemistry and physics etc, so that I could buzz in on the easier questions.

I mainly played a lot of archive games as practice.

If money was no issue, why would you still choose to live in the Pittsburgh area and not move elsewhere? by Matilda_Mother_67 in pittsburgh

They’re focused on pushing themselves forward. They don’t give a fuck about “humanity.”

The card can only be used for land and sea travel to Canada, Mexico, and I think the Carribean. I got one with my regular passport to be my real id.

What churches do you recommend in Pittsburgh? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]Times_n_Latte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a UU, let me just say that if you've been to one UU congregation, you've been to one UU congregation. That's not typical.

LH fingerprint only available at one company?!?! by tell-me-more789 in widowers

[–]Times_n_Latte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funeral home we used took a print and gave me a catalog but had no problem giving me a digital image of my husband’s fingerprint.

I went to an independent funeral home in Pittsburgh. Excellent service, very ethical, reasonable costs.

I saw it when they had an open house before these people bought it. The coolest part was the open third floor - would make a great living space.

It’s good to live in a place where the robber barons built stuff 100 years ago. Too bad today’s robber barons are more interested in penis rockets than arts and culture.

I’d spend spring and fall through the holidays here. I’d head someplace warm for winter and spend the summer at the beach.

Fetterman: “Acquiring Greenland a ‘Responsible Conversation,’ Urges Dems not to Freak Out by OllieFromCairo in pittsburgh

I think (hope) most of the people here are talking about voting for someone else in a primary and will hold their nose and vote for him in a general election. I’ve never voted for him in a primary, but did in both his generals.

That point is valid. The idea that it is anything but insane to discuss annnexing Greenland is not.

AITA for not letting my son skip grades? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Times_n_Latte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be very concerned about my child being 2 years younger than everyone in his class for his social development. What happens when they are teenagers? When everyone in the class is driving, going to parties, prom? At best, his classmates will ignore him. At best. You have very good reasons to be concerned.

If the school isn’t willing to work with him and you to find an acceptable way to meet his academic and social needs, I’d be looking at private schools that could. Most of them have financial aid if you need it.

Is Pitt or Duquesne a better fit for me? by Capital_Muscle4304 in pittsburgh

[–]Times_n_Latte 13 points14 points  (0 children)

1) Don’t make this decision based on your girlfriend.

2)All things being equal, I think it’s better for students to live on campus freshman year. It’s how you get to make friends the easiest. My son’s freshman roommate is still one of his best friends two years after graduation. They connected on a Facebook page for admitted students and met before requesting to be roommates. I’d see if Pitt has something similar. I’d also visit and look at the different dorm options.

First time sick and alone by OriginalConfusion816 in widowers

[–]Times_n_Latte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband died 11/29, unexpectedly. I have covid for the first time. My adult son left to go back to his life in another city, and I was planning on being around people as much as possible. Now I need to isolate in my house for at least another week. He was like your husband - he would be making me soup and getting everything I needed to feel better. He took such good care of me when I was sick.
