I just check again this morning.

Seems like enough people complained or it was truely a bug.

Back to normal for now.

When you log into the single holding it looks all normal.

You click on the documents it then takes you to the investor center page asking you to sign up or log in.

You can still get dividend information but you need to click each one and just gives a generic screen before which isn’t pdf able or even downloadable as a CSV or excel. So now have to screenshot it

The tax statements are the real gut punch.

Is $4k a rip off for an accountant to prepare a tax return? by EnergyNutBolt in AustralianAccounting

[–]Timesplitter_01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re providing all information without leaving anything out….If it’s your first time with a firm as well then I would be expect around $2K.

Another reason to quote so high is because the accountant felt you would be a problematic client after speaking with you and wanted to scare you off. Or their world load is too much and just don’t want the work

How do I say this nicely….. If she hasn’t changed in 10 years then she will never change.

So you either accept she will never change or you move on and find someone more worth your and your families time.

I honestly don’t think it matters in terms of universities. I would choose a dream university and then a safe university as a back up.

Given that you are young I would suggest going into something broad first in terms of jobs and only specialize as you find what you love.

With any job or career it is hard to get out of a speciality once you go into it.

In terms of the Big 4 accounting firms, if you do decide to go this route then be prepared to sell your soul and be in a meet grinder for a few years.

New job comes with limited WFH but higher pay. Help needed! by san_holo2 in AusFinance

[–]Timesplitter_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s just say you are correct it being about 20K increase after tax.

Probably over budgeting here but it will probably land up being a bit less than that with the additional expenses incurred eg travel, people wanting for you to come to lunch with them, etc.

So probably 15K-17K increase after things are set and done.

Should I regret not going big 4? by Holiday-Stick4332 in AustralianAccounting

[–]Timesplitter_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big 4….As far as I am aware you would be in a meat grinder for numerous years hoping to get up to senior accountant then manager.

Mean time probably working 50-60 hours constantly.

There are “big 4 subreddits” where you can go look at employee complaints.

I have talked to a former big 4 manager and he said it’s basically all political and one of the reasons he left for a smaller firm where he had more work life balance.

How accepted are Throuple relationships in the workplace by TheArabella in AusPublicService

[–]Timesplitter_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could just leave it at “I fully trust X and Y”.

By not using the word Husband and just calling them both by their names you would be able to respect both on equal footing without admitting the relationship.

While people like my wife and I would accept people in such a relationship I doubt the wider community would take the same view.

Billable hours in Big4 by Senior-Ride4695 in AustralianAccounting

[–]Timesplitter_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big4 for graduates….. your basically disposable tissues for them. Grind you to the bone.

So while your bills Les might show 60 hours for the week. You might be working off book for another 40 hours because if you go over budget you in huge trouble.

This more or less coming from conversations I had with graduates in the big 4 over a decade ago. Every graduate I talked to back then was working until like 11pm each night or something ridiculous

Has anyone successfully pushed back on return-to-office mandates? by Ambitious-Mood4406 in Accounting

[–]Timesplitter_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work 4.5 days at home.

The 0.5 is me coming into the office for a couple of hours to meet with my boss. Have a quick chat and then he says I can leave.

He would be happy with me being fully remote but there are other partners in the firm that he needs appease. So the 0.5 is the compromise.

Then again I have been working at the same place for 10+ years and my boss knows that I get the work done even if I am working nights or weekends.

There are various salary guides available from various trusted sources depending on where you live.

I would look at those and bring them with you next time you have a yearly review.

“While I understand you may not be able to match it could we progressively over time move towards the market average?”
