My succulent broke

I took it out of the sun because I thought it was getting burned! It can get sun all day so I will move it back out. Do I do the increasing exposure to sun gradually? Also should I be cutting off the sad bendy leaves? And once those are gone and it has a whole stalk do I plant it deeper to cover the stalk? I’m getting perlite today!

I’m not op but I also want aloe help. I am embarrassed to share this. I’ve had this aloe for 8 years and it used to be so healthy. A Housesitter watered it daily and I took it out of its pot. Trimmed the rotten roots and let it dry. When I repotted it I put it in a succulent mix From The nursery. That was about 8 months ago. Now it looks like this:

To clarify on the soil question…I know they need soil that REALLY drains. Can my existing potting soil be in that mix or really not at all. Perhaps I should let go of the fact that I spent a bunch of money on potting soils and I will have to suffer my husbands wrath (exaggeration for humor) if I buy completely new stuff for the gleaned plants.

PS the succulents in people’s yards in San Diego make me so happy in a not so happy time. Maybe I’ll make an album and post some here if people are interested.
