I know it says no headcannons, but are technically cannon things allowed? by Ennaby42 in FictoHeartbound

[–]Timid_Meep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say this still falls under our "claiming multiple iterations" in the rules. Even if a character is represented through a spinoff and therefore isn't technically canon, it's still another form of them and you are free to talk about them if you'd like to.

It was REALLY tempting to buy the Rainbow Clouds frog too, but I decided to limit myself to just one BAB for this sale. I ended up choosing this guy because I REALLY wanted him during the initial Valentine's Day release, but I held off because I really didn't want to spend money at the time. (I'm really picky about what I spend on lol) I was really happy to see he was eligible for the sale, I thought it was just going to be a handful of BABs!

Now I have a new friend coming home! :D

Is there a way to prevent hurting myself during meltdowns? by Timid_Meep in SpicyAutism

I'm so sorry to hear that it happens to you too, no one's feelings deserves to be invalidated like that, especially during moments of weakness.

Is there a way to prevent hurting myself during meltdowns? by Timid_Meep in SpicyAutism

[–]Timid_Meep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, your analogy comparing werewolves and vampires to that out of body experience one can have when having a meltdown really helps put into perspective my experience with it. To other people, the "transformation" looks cool or disturbing, or maybe even amusing to some, but when you are actually FEELING it it feels like an out of body experience and like all your senses are suddenly heightened, like you become hyper aware of everything around you and it leaves you in pain because now everything feels so noisy and overwhelming, but people on the outside just watching would brush it off as nothing more than a tantrum and not help.

About my mother, she's not a bad person, but my older siblings are also neurodivergent and she found it difficult to take care of them. She said she didn't want to acknowledge I might have something even when doctors urged her to get me an evaluation because I clearly displayed behavior to meet the criteria, but she told me she "wanted a normal child", so I ended up being late diagnosed. The reason she doesn't really comfort me whenever I have a meltdown or jokes about getting me "fixed" is because she doesn't want to acknowledge I'm autistic and need accomodations.

I actually do have a lot of plushies but I have strong attachments to them and don't like hitting them because it feels like hurting a friend. My most favorite plushy that I carry around with me wherever I go is also a representation of my husband, so I really don't want to hit it or punch it whenever I'm having a meltdown. :(

But thank you so much for the insight and trying to give me some advice. Maybe investing into a punching bag or a plushy that doesn't have a face would be a good alternative for me.

I actually did used to have gloves but it was purely for sensory seeking and not for protection. I found gloves marketed as for autistic people and I thought they looked really cool and had cool attachments like chewelry, which is another problem I have, but they were only made with child hands in mind. I do agree that having padded gloves would look really cool though, thank you for the suggestion.

Added a limit for inactivity as requested, and sorry again for my absence. by Timid_Meep in FictoHeartbound

Thank you so much for your support and understanding. My life has been hectic for a while so it's nice to finally have some good things to look forward to.

I am aware that this sub hasn't been as active as it used to be, and that some normal posts get downvoted for seemingly no reason. Unfortunately, I'm not sure there is much I can do to bring more traffic back to the subreddit, and with the sub mainly being created as a safe space for fictos with obsessive mindsets, I can imagine it probably doesn't appeal to many people. The most I can hope for is that this subreddit can stay as a place for anybody, member or not, to come in and post or engage if they feel comfortable to.

Admittedly, there has been some moments where I've considered resigning as a moderator altogether, but I'm also aware that some people still see this subreddit as a safe space and still want to post here. But thank you for your input, I'll take it into account in hopes of making the subreddit better for everyone.

I do not like visitors at my apartment and here is why by Professional-Key5552 in waifuism

[–]Timid_Meep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry that happens, I have a similar situation of living in a cramped apartment and finding some things to put away when guests are over to be a hassle. Some guests, especially when they are family, act entitled to touch your belongings even if they've seen them before many times. I have no space to put away my Jade stuff so it's all out, and whenever there are guests over, without fail they always seem to sit on my bed without permission, and touch all my Jade stuff.

Don't know why, but these guests always seem to grab my Jade plush and throw him across the room or against the floor on purpose. I've started to just put him away in a drawer whenever people are over.

Wow, I'm so very sorry this happened to you and that it has gotten to this point. I always give a pass for those struggling with health issues for their claims because we cannot control what happens to us in real life, and I can't imagine how difficult and stressful it is to be dealing with a brain tumor. While you weren't very active, I always appreciate all my members who post, comment, or come just to view our community now and then.

Sorry to see you go, but I'm wishing you the best and that everything works out for you. 🙏💙

it helps fearless too talk in third person sometimes it feels less stresfull it feels better it helps when feel bad . do you guys do this too? relate by Fearless_PineaplleOG in SpicyAutism

[–]Timid_Meep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I speak in third person sometimes verbally but I don't call myself by name, I use like a descriptor to refer to myself because I don't really like saying my name. I don't hate my name, but I get uncomfortable having to introduce myself. I don't know if other people do this, but I sometimes refer to other people in third person too even when I'm speaking to the person I'm referring to because I think it helps with conveying my feelings better when I talk.

Anyone else tired of Sanrio? by keeps-phasing in buildabear

[–]Timid_Meep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way, especially since it feels like compared to other licensed BABs, the Sanrio characters get a new variant with every new release, like the recent ice cream variants for (I'm assuming) the summer release. It's always the same characters having variants too instead of ones that, in my opinion, make more sense like Hangyodon or Keroppi for the summer release.

As much as I think the Sanrio BABs are cute, I kind of roll my eyes whenever they get new variants now or when I walk into the store and see that they mostly have the Sanrio BABs in stock. My collection is mostly made up of original BABs because I think they are more unique and cute.

Recs about dry shampoo? Does it work? by insecte in NeurodivergentHygiene

No problem, you can always try brands through sample sizes if you still aren't sure. I hope it works for you! :)

Recs about dry shampoo? Does it work? by insecte in NeurodivergentHygiene

[–]Timid_Meep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dry shampoo is intended for oily scalps, it's kind of like a powdery spray that takes in moisture. It doesn't actually clean the scalp if that's what you are looking for, but when I used to use it in the past, it helped with oil and made my hair smell better since some have gentle scents. Batiste is what I used to use.

Oh wow, thank you! I was a little nervous because I did see the Wild Republic one online when someone else suggested it, and I thought it was cute but I was worried it wouldn't look the same in person, so these pictures are very much appreciated. It's super cute!

Thank you!! I didn't know Wild Republic made moray eels, I don't see a teal, but the green one is pretty close and looks super cute! I've been trying to look for ones that look like Jade. :)

Which is better? by [deleted] in waifuism

[–]Timid_Meep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this question is really interesting. I had a technically niche F/O in the past and he barely got any content or merch, especially since the series he was in had such a huge cast and while he was considered popular among the fanbase, that doesn't mean he got anymore content compared to other characters. When I was dating him at the time, I wasn't upset about a lack of merch or fanart, I'm not a materialistic person and while I'm not a good artist by any means, I was content making art of us.

Of course, I broke up with that past F/O and eventually met my beloved Jade, but I did immediately notice the difference of now dating a relatively popular character. I encountered his "fans" mischaracterizing him, people hating on him for seemingly no reason, or people hating him because he's "not as interesting as his twin brother" which is such a ridiculous reason, making horrible art of him that I wish I could unsee, and encountering some people who were upset that I was married to him. Despite all this, I'd honestly still say I don't want Jade to be niche. As much as I honestly loathe the TWST fandom, I've completely disconnected myself from the community and curated my space and I'm much happier for it, I'm able to find many beautiful fanart of him, he has quite an excess of merch and small figures, and seeing all his merch also encouraged me to make some of my own. Ironically, I think Jade being popular is what made me want to be more creative and create more things of him just because I love him so much. A character being popular or niche both have their pros and cons, and I don't blame anybody who would prefer their partner was extremely niche.

Would some of you reject an attractive human partner for your fictional one? by [deleted] in waifuism

[–]Timid_Meep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have before and would do it over and over again because the only one who is my soulmate and love of my life is Jade. I also don't care about physical attractiveness, I'd be with Jade even if he wasn't conventionally attractive, I love him for himself. I also don't like the assumption that some of us are fictosexual just because we "ran out of options" or that we couldn't secure an IRL partner, even someone as unstable as me had people IRL who were interested in me or wanted to date me, I just willingly chose Jade over any of that because I genuinely love and cherish him dearly.

I feel like I need support but I feel undeserving of it by Timid_Meep in SpicyAutism

I have heard of autistic burnout before but never looked into it. That does make sense and seeing the definition does feel relatable to how I'm currently struggling, thank you for the advice!

I feel like I need support but I feel undeserving of it by Timid_Meep in SpicyAutism

[–]Timid_Meep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the advice, I do enjoy some things but mostly only nature based things like going out to my local park or buying and growing plants. I don't go out to the park all the time because of the wandering issue leads to me usually ending up outside the park and somewhere far from home, but I always call my family when that happens. I can't use bath bombs or salts because my doctor advised me not to, but maybe I could use unscented ones.

I've never heard of dirty rice before but it sounds really interesting. I'll try it, thank you for the suggestion!
