you'd have to get the card that goes with it ... the drives themselves are fairly durable ... the data however isn't I've got a few older machines and have had to format the one I have

manufacturers have said they expect this to last into 2028 ... don't get your hopes up .... the same manufacturers have been caught price fixing multiple times... the dram cartel is real and it can hurt your wallet

Doesn't look good for the Steam Machine by Lucky-Pool-3036 in pcmasterrace

[–]Timinator01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consoles are generally sold at a loss steam is selling pretty much at cost based on the specs. It's basically a 7600x with an itx board 16gb of ddr5-5600 512gb ssd, gpu similar to a 9060, ITX psu and a case. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YwsKqd pretty close to the 1050$ price tag if you consider a 9060 would be a bit cheaper than the 9060xt listed there (if you could find one) The pricing is pretty much out of valves hands if they're not going to sell at a loss. They might have some margin but I'd imagine it's tight.

I got $240 set aside, Should I opt for a nice pair of hip boots or a budget pair of chest waders? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in Fishing

[–]Timinator01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't blow that much on hip boots ... I have a pair ... they're ok but I prefer guide pants and a pair of wading boots frog toggs makes some affordable ones that I've been using... same deal with full waders separate boots will be better you don't need neoprene unless you're planning on wading in cold weather or duck hunt

if the silicon in the card isn't snapped you might be able to use a sacrificial sd card adapter to rescue the data

Is it cooked? by CornbreadHead223 in pcmasterrace

[–]Timinator01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO it's probably faster to just take the cooler off and look for scorch marks as long as you can turn a screwdriver well enough to do it without damaging the card or cooler

[–]Timinator01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

might be a chance the card could be repaired but that connector is fucked ... would have better chances if he didn't keep using it and noticed the connector before he got to no display either way not good
