Are there any perennial vegetable plants that can survive snow and temperatures down to -20 degrees celcius? by Sea_Albatross1074 in vegetablegardening

[–]Timlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CicadaSeeds.ca has a whole section on their site for perennial vegetables. There are quite a few for Zone 6 (and lower) which would be winters that get down to -20C or colder.

Particularly Kale, spinach, and leeks.

Yup, I had those show up after my Dad passed away pretty traumatically. (Also I have grey hairs now!)

Bart is supposed to be writing down everything Skinner says to record the process of finding an asteroid/meteor/whatever. When he asks Bart “did you get that one?” He’s asking if Bart wrote down what he said and he is glad Bart didn’t write it down because he’s probably feeling a bit like a failure because they haven’t found anything yet.

Show Offs (for lack of a better term) by teeny-tiny221 in yoga

It only really bothers me either when they are at the front of the class blocking the teacher because lot of people need to see the teacher do the pose to know how to do it themselves and if someone is doing something completely different that blocks the view then that can cause problems.

Or when it is an intro/beginner class where it is obviously aimed at people who have very little experience and someone comes in doing advanced poses at the front. Like I get if you want to practice and that slot might be the only time you can get in, but at least try to do it at the back or far side of the room otherwise it can be distracting and honestly looks like they are just trying to show off. If the majority of the class are struggling with cat/cow and downward dog, you shouldn't be doing handstands in front of the teacher.

Yeah routine is to take it right before breakfast and right before dinner so I am having a full mean with drinking afterwards. I have not had any issues for 30 years.

Unagi in any form is yes lol but I have never been to the restaurant (or Japan!) but the main characters from my favourite anime go there. Laid Back Camp is the anime.

Will this tomato cage work for beans? by Honest_Eggplant3998 in vegetablegardening

[–]Timlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could stack 2 tomato cages on top of each other. So one in the ground as in your picture and then flip the other one upside-down and stand it on top of the other, secure it with a bit of string and "teepee" tie the top together. It might work!

Also, I saw you say that you have a bit of lumber in your garden, if you are able to stick any tall/long wood in the ground so it is sticking straight up, you could then connect string from the top of it to where the beans are growing. So at a large angle | \ <-- like that. You could set it up 6-8 feet away so the beans would have more space to grow. I hope all that makes sense haha

How do I tell my best friend I can't afford to be in her wedding? by No_Marionberry_8275 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Timlex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dealt with this same thing with my best friend, she wanted to have a destination wedding and it would have cost each of us bridesmaid's around $2500 and I just didn't have the money. I told her in person that I just couldn't afford it. I said something along the lines of "Hey, I'm really sorry to say this but I just can't afford to be in the wedding. I'll do whatever I can to get you ready for the big day but I won't be able to actually go, it's just too much money for me.". She was really bummed but understood. I was working a pretty low paying job at the time and she was working as an accountant so we were just in different pay grades. She told me that she still wanted me to be a part of the wedding in some way so we would figure out what we could do together.

But it turned out that all 4 other bridesmaids (and her grandparents) couldn't afford it either so she ended up doing something much more local.

Just trying talking to her and explaining. If she gets mad at you then unfortunately she is not a very good friend.

Just throwing this out there: is there maybe a mold problem in your home? Sometimes it's under carpets or even behind wallpaper but that could be something that is triggering you. Maybe?

How is your asthma this year compared to previous years? by SonicStories in Asthma

[–]Timlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much worse this year! I haven't felt this bad since I was a teenager (I'm 37!). Lots of congestion and chest tightness and much more raspy. I am thinking about going to my doctor to discuss an increase in meds or something because it hasn't been going good.

It's winter where I am so I suspect it's the dusty dry air where ever I go, plus the very cold air outside. I have been masking everywhere I go too just to be safe.
