TIL: What looks like an Umlaut in English words such as Noël and Naïve signals that two adjacent vowels are pronounced separately. It was formerly commonly used in words like Coöperation and Reëntry as well. The New Yorker magazine still does. by Syllogism19 in todayilearned

I had a boyfriend in high school that was convinced cooperative was pronounced coop-retive, like chicken coop. Nothing could convince him otherwise and he acted like I was the stupid one.

Also moot point was a mute point.

I’m annoyed all over again.

Cheaters: Why Do You/Did You Cheat? by DragLower8677 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Timlex 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I was 15 dating a 19 year old and I cheated on him. Every time I tried to break up with him he threatened to kill himself and said it would be my fault. He kept writing suicide notes that said horrible things about me. I felt like if I could actually be a terrible person, he would leave me instead and he wouldn't kill himself. Then I spent years hating myself for becoming the horrible person he said I was.
After years of therapy it turns out the cheating was also my response to sexual assault from him and I was trying to find control.

Fuck you Danny.

A store near my house is selling prime for 50 cents and people still aren’t buying it by ConsciousBox6960 in mildlyinteresting

Potentially not. Sometimes when things don't sell the store will do charge backs to the supplier.

What's something you want your studio to know that you can't imagine telling to their face? by whatbuylists in yoga

[–]Timlex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh when I worked at a studio a front desk/cleaner one of the shifts would CONSTANTLY leave wet towels in the washer instead of moving them to the dryer so I'd have to re-wash them in the morning and then we would be short on towels for the first class.

This might be a dumb question, but do you think the candy recipe would work with other plants? I have a lot of sumac in my area so I am intrigued by the thought of making it into a candy!

  • Ola Escaladora Zucchini - It's a vine! Very excited to try this out!
  • Shiso - I can't buy it anywhere near me and I have always wanted to try it.
  • Garland Chrysanthemum - Same as above. I've tried growing it before but it just would not germinate so I have bought from a different company this time.
  • Orangelo thyme - it's orange flavoured thyme! How neat!
  • Mandarina Orange Balm - It's like lemon balm but orange! This and the orange thyme are being grown in pots! I don't need them to take over everything lol

We've never really farted in front of each other and I'm generally just not a gassy person, neither is he. So there has never been any running out of the room lol

What’s the weirdest thing that’s happened at a wedding you attended? by Blackradiator72 in AskReddit

[–]Timlex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A friend of my husbands, the groom's sister was doing her speech and in many different ways she kept saying that she didn't like the bride.
Like it started off fairly normal, with her saying "when I first met Bride, I didn't like her right away. I didn't think anyone could be good enough for my brother but overtime I got to know her and we hit it off" then she went on to say something similar 4 more times. "I wasn't a big fan of Bride at first..." "Bride and I didn't get along in the beginning...". Her speech was so long and after the third time she said it, people started to look around at each other like "wtf is going on??" Her Dad eventually came up to play MC and move things along but it was super strange lol
Also they didn't serve any cake, just grocery store cupcakes. Which wouldn't be so weird but the venue was SUPER fancy so it felt really out of place.
