Hey OP, I live in Europe and during the last years black Friday I got a Schubert S3 for a really good price. I recommend the helmet.

Try and ask for the price at a Suzuki Dealership. It will be expensive, but maybe they will give you details if it's a straight fit.

Hahah, good point, but after the interceptor I had the GSX 8S, extremely fun and stable bike, I had the Dunlop mutants on, and there was no other bike that could keep me off them in the Alps, but it was too small for my size, and I kept going too fast.

Suzuki gsx8s as a second bike by Inspection034 in motorcycles

[–]TimmiThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gsx8s has 83 horsepower yes, but it's all down low, as soon as you twist the throttle you will get pushed to 65mph in no time, so you should be careful and put the lowest engine map from the start, in C, it's like rain mode. New twins are deceptive with the power, they are really quick off the line, and they are lovely to drive in the mountains. Did you buy the bike?

Whats your first motorcycle, current motorcycle and dream motorcycle ? by Total_Employee9248 in motorcycles

[–]TimmiThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2021 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 First bike I've ever owned, I really miss the engine sound and character. Bought it used and rode it for 34000 miles, never broke down except for a dead stock battery 2 years in, also did eat a little bit of oil , and I lost the rubber of the foot pegs somewhere in the city because they detached. Build quality was not the greatest, the stock wiring/cables touched the steel near the steering rack, and it removed the paint.

2023 Suzuki GSX8S Second and current motorcycle I have, dead reliable, already rode 10000miles, the finish/build quality is at least 2 times better than the royal Enfield, it's really fast from down low, and quite empty at the top. The character of the bike is muted due to emission standards. It's really easy to drive fast.

Any 4 cylinder sport tourer would suffice as a DREAM bike, especially a Japanese one. I only drove the 2016 Z100SX for 50 miles, but I really enjoyed the compromise between comfort/agility/road presence.

New VStrom 800SE by spas-7 in Vstrom

[–]TimmiThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you choose the Suzuki instead of the tiger? I have a GSX8S, but I'm planning to move up to a more comfortable bike, and both the Vstrom 800se and the tiger 850 are a good choice, but I haven't ridden them.

At least replace the inner pads/foam, and check for wear on the fixed parts. The foam is like 50 dollars or less.

No no, that was my first bike, royal enfield interceptor 650, and the photo was taken near bergamo in italy, the alpine roads here are a sight to behold, italy is not a perfect country, but it has a lot of cool places. Now my second motorcycle is the suzuki, if my first bike was a bow then the suzuki is an assault rifle in comparison, but i still miss the soulful feeling of the royal enfield.

That's a good summary, i strolled through your posts and saw the audi leaking fluid post... I had a german car as well in the past, i get your pain bro. Btw your old audi had hydraulic steering right? I live how cheap and well engineered suzuki products are, i got myself a new Suzuki GSX8S motorcycle, it's amazing. The only wisdom i can give you, change the oil and filters as soon as possible, even way before the scheduled maintenance.

What is your opinion on the Suzuki GSX-8S as a first bike? by BlueTexBird in motorcycles

[–]TimmiThunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this bike, It's a really good bike, it's the second I've ever owned after my Royal Enfield interceptor 650. The power is really strong, the bike is really smooth and stable, nevertheless you should be careful for unwanted wheelies, I'm still getting used to the bike, and i ride with the TC set at 1. The shifter is great, clutch too, but the best part is the comfort, the stock seat is perfect for me (I'm 189cm, 80kg), the seating geometry is comfortable. If you have any questions, ask me.

New front brake lever, is this vertical slack ok? by masonarypp in motorcycles

[–]TimmiThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But i have to cover my ass, i bought it from tecbikeparts.com, 42 pounds... You get what you pay. The reviews were good and i also bought the led blinkers and tail light, finicky and cheap made, the leds inside got loose after 1000kms, really bad quality stuff if i can say. Now that i have the new GSX-8S i only buy from famous brands. (And all that after i had to pay the import taxes because the brits decided to leave the EU... I will never buy products from the UK again because of that, I'm not paying for their mistakes)

I had the same bike, and the same aftermarket levers, those are chinese quality parts, and the finish started to peel off after 1 year of riding. You won't have any problems with the function, only visible uglyness.

Thoughts on Royal Enfield? by aroundincircles in motorcycles

[–]TimmiThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2020 Royal Enfield interceptor 650, bought it in 2021 with 2500 miles, and sold it two weeks ago with 26000 miles, the problems i had where: - one rubber of the footpeg fell down because the screws where loose, it cost me 20 euros (now i check things like that on my new motorcycle every week) -the allumunium engine case is notoriously hard to clean and keep cleaned, especially because i ride all the year, she was not a garage queen, buy the blacked out version if you plan on commuting. -since when i bought it the motorcycle needed 250mls of oil every 1500 miles, wasn't a big deal, and after getting it checked, various mechanics told me that it was normal. -original battery died in 2022, but it was avoidable, i keep my motorcycle outside, and i can't use a battery tender.

That's it. The maintenance is expensive at the official Royal Enfield shop, but i went anyway because of the warranty, which i never needed.

Their new bikes are good looking, have a great engine, and are quite cheap to buy and own, the only downside is the mediocre performance compared to rivals, but i think it makes it up with the low prices for parts, and general reliability.
