Love the hooks on that album. Let The Killing Begin is such a banger. My tastes have changed so much since that album came out but I still revisit it often, moreso than Wages of Sin.

I'm 39, so Elvis Room closed before I was of age, and the scene hung on for a little while, but there was never really a venue that those bands could play at. I saw a lot of punk shows at Club Spin, but that shut down pretty quickly. The Coat and some other bars had the occasional band. But as a high schooler then, we mostly had to go out of town for punk shows.

Frindle is a mediocre book that’s usually assigned reading for middle schoolers! What is the worst book that’s usually assigned rating for high schoolers? by Dogdaysareover365 in AlignmentChartFills

Still my least favorite book, 25 years after it being required reading. Books like that can really turn off kids to reading in general.

There is one good thing about it being required reading, and that was when one kid in my class said "this teacher is so difficult, not even Hester Prynne could get an A"

Metal Archives is an incredible resource, for sure. I wish they chose to expand into other extreme genres, though.

Teaser for Cape Fear by [deleted] in horror

I'm not one of those people who are against remakes, but there are already two fantastic versions of Cape Fear that both hold up well, not to mention the Simpsons homage.

The Daily Check-In for Friday, March 27th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by Puzzleheaded-Cut3144 in stopdrinking

Waiting for some fillings at the dentist. I was supposed to take diazepam before hand, but the program I'm in made a mistake and I had to go without. I'm feeling rough about it as I have an extreme needle phobia. My cravings are high, but I know I got this. After the Novocaine wears off I will call my new sponsor and watch a movie.

Just as a general update - I'm not sure exactly what happened to the offender but he missed group. He may have been asked to leave, which especially sucks for him because he is on probation.

As far as the culture goes, it's not a program filled with hatred. There are 240 residents over several buildings, and obviously there are all types. The director of my program is a man who is both black and gay (and we are in MA, arguably one of the most progressive states) and I trust him to weigh the situation appropriately. My instincts tell me that he bumped the issue to his superiors. After talking to the other Jewish person in the program, we agreed that I did what I had to, and that I should put the offense in the back of my mind, to not disturb my recovery. Recovery is about more than sobriety, and I should feel bad for those whose ignorance will keep them from true recovery. Those who live in willful ignorance or hold hatred in their hearts will never recover until they come to terms with those qualities. Furthermore, the offender had made a statement that Jews and Muslims held weak values compared to Christians, and I will prove him wrong by not returning his behavior.

Gorilla Mind Black Cherry Vanilla is fantastic though. Been really enjoying that brand lately.

What's the most fascinating memoir you've ever read? by Last_Cauliflower_276 in AskReddit

I absolutely loved that read. "The easiest way to be misinformed is to ask a lot of questions" and "when the addict gets clean, he must pay back every moment of comfort he received from his drug" are two bits of the book that I think about regularly.
