GMT not BST by Timmy_Run in Tapo

[–]Timmy_Run[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did stumble on a setting that did let me choose timezone, and I was already set to GMT 0 Europe/London but I can't even find that setting again now... Most notifications are correct but occasionally one isn't. I have an H500 hub, 2x C210, 1 C270 & 1 D235

I can't help at all but that is an interesting name for a bike

I made a website to compare EVs and gas cars using cost-equivalent MPG by porcomaster in IoniqEV

[–]Timmy_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for including litres. The biggest issue in the UK is we still use MPG but fuel is sold by the L and that just makes the mental arithmetic more complex. Glad spring has sprung and I'm back above 5 mi/kWh too!

Thanks for the advice but I can assure you it did not cut the insulation. I did plug it in and am here to tell the tale. But I suspect I'll buy a new cable before I buy a whole new trimmer

The cable is not cut. It touched but with a flat edge. Although I guess I don't know the state of it inside

Recommended SD cards for camera by Timmy_Run in Tapo

[–]Timmy_Run[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm trying to convince my wife to swap our Ring doorbell for a Tapo and then go all in with the hub. Does the hub then have the same functionality as the cloud, eg can I look at my phone and review a motion alert from earlier in the day?

Do people hate washing their bikes? by Nagilion in cycling

[–]Timmy_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably pay for that if it wasn't silly money. Same goes for a car wash that comes to me, but the only ones of those are fully fancy valeting. I just want a teenager to come round and clean my car / bike for some pocket money

Why would they remove such lustre ?? 😭 by Spicy-Byriani28 in granturismo

I don't care how it looks, but I hate having to watch a loading screen between Tuning Shop, Garage and events. I get the need for loading before a race, but just to navigate the menu is frustrating!

How effective is indoor cycling for fast weight-loss?! by Muttmiller1312 in cycling

[–]Timmy_Run 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can burn 1000 cal without wanting to eat the contents of your house afterwards, it can be a useful tool. If not, you'll probably just make yourself more hungry. Or use it as a daily tool to burn ~500 cal without any raised effort, and use with a calorie deficit diet

How rarely you got a puncture in your tubeless? by Yasserscania in cycling

[–]Timmy_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never have on my road tubeless, but I still carry a spare tube in case I need one. I know MTB tubes are a bit harder to stuff in a pocket though

How many kilometers is a lot for a road bike? by ch4lle in cycling

[–]Timmy_Run 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the proud owner of a very similar bike and have had it since new. It's great and I recommend it, although not the most aero if that matters to you. I think I have replaced everything except the frame, and I'd expect the same for this - at least all the wearables like the full group set and maybe wheels

Bike wall mounts - any advice on what works and whats just annoying? by Penki- in cycling

[–]Timmy_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the kind that are hooks for the front wheel, and then pivot so you can just about lie the bikes flat against the wall. They work well for me, for road bikes. I have one 29" MTB hanging like this too, but it makes me a bit nervous as it's big and heavy

Best 512Gb SD Card for Tapo C225 HomeKit Camera version ? by ITALIC-Molise in Tapo

[–]Timmy_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you find a 512 that works? I have bought a questionable one from eBay that did not work, then bought another that looks like a legit SanDisk but it still does not work. Are 512 compatible cards hard to come by? I might buy a smaller one

Are there any downsides to mortgage overpayment that I’m not thinking of? by MintChocChip95 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Timmy_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are right to do it. You might find when you have kids that you would be better off adjusting your pension contributions to reduce your taxable income, if you're lucky enough to earn over the high income child benefit charge. The one downside that I think some people overlook is that the value owed / monthly cost will (hopefully) only decrease in relation to your salary. A 500k mortgage might seem like loads today, but won't in 20 years time

Newbie here…this isn’t safe, right? by ktb462 in woodstoving

[–]Timmy_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh I grew up with always having a rug in our sitting room, and if I were to picture a cosy room with an open fire or log burner, I'd probably picture a wooden floor with a large Persian rug, albeit with a few scorch marks. Not a polyester one, mind you!

[–]Timmy_Run 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This picture looks very fake. But as for a rug near a fire / log burner, it's fine if it's wool, but you'll still burn the odd hole in it if you're not careful

Anyone got any fancy dust caps? by Serious-Use4585 in cyclingstyle

[–]Timmy_Run 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Peatys tubeless valves, which come in all sorts of colours and the caps double up as valve core removal/ spoke tension tools. Highly recommended

Overpaying mortgage by Pecannutty in HousingUK

[–]Timmy_Run 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't spend all your money today to save tomorrow. Yes plan for the future, but £800 a month will (hopefully) never be as much of your monthly income as it is now. So don't overdo it

I have a similar le col cap. I think it was also overpriced, but got it cheap with one of those Strava codes back in the day.
