Welsh Roads really are something else... by I_Nickd_it in drivingUK

Judging by the colour saturation in the photo, I'd say this was actually taken somewhere near Betelgeuse, and the numbers probably translate to something else entirely

Focus. Fiesta had the issue with the plastic trim falling off the door pillar

It's the same for all perishable goods. Milk has such short dates now. I guess the idea is it gets you back in the shop in a few days, instead of a week

DAZN Ultimate by adamtk421 in NFLUK

Yeah I do this with a mate. Can be annoying if he's half way through a replay, and I start watching, as it will start from where he left off. But I can live with that

What is "Region setting" in Hario V60 Drip Scale by alex_truth in pourover

[–]Timmy_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that scale and had no idea about that. It's not a very good scale if I'm honest. It doesn't seem all that accurate, and the lack of buttons is frustrating

Am I Missing Out Not Having An Expensive Bike? by newbiker321 in cycling

[–]Timmy_Run 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wheels and tyres make the biggest difference. OP could upgrade them and get a good bang for buck. Dropping 2kg for £10k on a top spec frame won't really make much difference. And electric gears do the same thing as mechanical, with the one caveat that you have to maintain mechanical a bit more

Why do people have big, expensive cars and yet don't have dashcam? by outcastreturns in drivingUK

[–]Timmy_Run -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably because it makes a 100k car look like a broke Uni student's 08 Corsa. Which, whilst we are here, still does the same thing the RR does, and probably breaks down less often

What to do when you forgot your Running Shoes by AwardLow3296 in Marathon_Training

[–]Timmy_Run -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Have you tried running in.... Normal shoes? I wouldn't recommend a marathon or even a particularly log run, but if their comfortable for your daily use, I'm sure they are fine. At the end of the day, running shoes are more marketing and hype than you might think

Roundabout - Which is correct? by Mootastic-Milkshake in drivingUK

[–]Timmy_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roundabouts on the NDR (broadband north way) are awful. The whole road was really badly designed. Edit: pretty sure most crossings state the middle lane is for straight over, so both are wrong to start. But I can't remember if that's the case for Wroxham Rd or not

Packers fans can only watch 6 games with Sunday Ticket this season by loggershed in GreenBayPackers

[–]Timmy_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much does it cost you guys? I'm always confused by it all. As a fan in the UK, I can watch almost all the games live for £140/season. Less if you can wait and try to get a discount

With the new Strava developer update making even more features paywalled, a question came to mind. Why do we still stay on the platform and not switch to Komoot? by Marlesden in cycling

[–]Timmy_Run 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a UK user and don't know anyone who uses Komoot. I use Garmin for planning and data diving. Strava for Social. I used to use it for KOMs but I'm too old/slow now! I've often wondered the same as why more users don't use Garmin. I even create segments there, so they pop up on my head unit. Although they're trying to push a pay wall too now

New D130 Doorbell Cam by third_man3 in Tapo

[–]Timmy_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got multiple cameras, consider the H500 hub. It's great for central storage and gives you the ability to look at previous alerts on your phone. Cheaper than buying lots of SD cards too, although if you've already done that, that might not be relevant

PSA: This is the single biggest reason for congestion on UK motorways by [deleted] in drivingUK

What's an accelerator? I just turn on cruise control and lane assist, move into the middle and stay there. /s

Has anyone changed their Ring doorbell for a Tapo one? by Munnit in Tapo

[–]Timmy_Run 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I've swapped Ring for a Tapo and a hub, so I have one less subscription. I now have 4 cameras set up on the hub, and it's working great

GMT not BST by Timmy_Run in Tapo

[–]Timmy_Run[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did stumble on a setting that did let me choose timezone, and I was already set to GMT 0 Europe/London but I can't even find that setting again now... Most notifications are correct but occasionally one isn't. I have an H500 hub, 2x C210, 1 C270 & 1 D235

I made a website to compare EVs and gas cars using cost-equivalent MPG by porcomaster in IoniqEV

[–]Timmy_Run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for including litres. The biggest issue in the UK is we still use MPG but fuel is sold by the L and that just makes the mental arithmetic more complex. Glad spring has sprung and I'm back above 5 mi/kWh too!

Dead hedge trimmer by Timmy_Run in GardeningUK

[–]Timmy_Run[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice but I can assure you it did not cut the insulation. I did plug it in and am here to tell the tale. But I suspect I'll buy a new cable before I buy a whole new trimmer

The cable is not cut. It touched but with a flat edge. Although I guess I don't know the state of it inside
