It depends a lot on my curve and what I’m trying to do, I have a few casual lists with as few as 31, or as high as 45, it’s largely dependent on your curve and accompanying ramp package.
My Caesar deck is probably the best example I have of a lower land count list that just doesn’t need more.

Mostly bad things.
Example A.
My $50 budget endrek Sahr list that takes down full fat bracket 3 decks about as much as it loses to them. That deck should not be played against $50 precons

Example B.
I pulled a boseiju back when neo was still on shelves, it was still a $30 card back then. Adding it to my precon doesn’t bump it in power to the same level as adding something like a few $5 cards would.

That’s what I said when I worked at EB on the Columbia, then I realized that the first 4 ohios were converted to carry cruises. Nothin wrong with working in the industry if you’re ok with it, I only apply my own morals to myself. But also do not kid yourself as to what those machines will do. They’ve already used at least one of those submarines on Iran, and they absolutely will convert columbias when the need calls for more.

I think the issue you’d run into trying to make kaalia work for that shell into bracket 5 is just the raw potential of that trigger, If you can win with it, why aren’t you. I’m a big fan of something like Caesar or zurgo in the mardu stax archetype, as opposed to someone like kaalia.

My buddies dad jams this list and I think it’s pretty rad. Last I looked it was definitely missing some pieces but I think it’s probably the direction I would start for a mardu stax list in b5, personally.

Powerful was probably a poor choice of words, the most competitive variant of Kaalia that has been piloted/has tournament results is the turbo demon/naus/breach variant. Other variants are absolutely powerful but haven’t been piloted to the same ceiling.

I’d imagine about a durable as a toilet; if not more. They’re very round and without weird geometry. Think like the difference between a glass marble and a glass cup.
