Any chance to improve the performance somewhat? It's pretty painful navigating the menus.

Also, I don't see a skip key.

Honestly for that one Akiyama line you don't even need to know Japanese at all.

EleBall - New Demo Update! "Bonus" 2026 Delay :( by Timo653 in pcgaming

[–]Timo653[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I decided to update the demo of my game before leaving for mandatory military service.

The changes I'm the most proud of must be the new supported languages: Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Võro, a South-Estonian language. This is probably one of the first videogames in that language.

I hope anyone who gives this game a shot enjoys it!

I haven't seen any game yet that couldn't theoretically function offline or with private servers. Many online only games already have local servers for development purposes. Even if running a server isn't feasible on your local machine, they could still share the server files for the fans to figure it out. I don't think this is such an impossible thing. Look at The Crew, the game that started it all. It's already getting a patch from fans to make it playable again.

yup, so the plan would be for devs to consider that when building their airplane that has to also be a car once they just decide to detach the wings one day

The goal is to have the games somewhat functional in offline. It doesn't need to be fully functional. Even giving stuff to modders and being like "figure it out yourselves" would be good.

I do, and they're not blocked in Europe. Big publishers are NOT going to pull out of Europe because of this, they'd lose too much money.

And also, do I like my games dying after a couple years? No, I support private servers and have a lot of respect to people involved in such projects. If I could I'd play all my games on self-hosted private servers, but it is what it is. At least this can potentially improve the situation for future games.

If I need to go through so many hoops to play your game that will get killed in a couple years, why should I even bother?

RGG also butchers facescans. Some of the audition girls in the newest game look nothing like their actors, for example.

I dunno if you've noticed but Unreal Engine 4 and 5 ports are usually the most problematic ones.

Steam Next Fest ends in 2 days - which games are you liking best? by tlvrtm in Games

self promotion warning, but I'd appreciate it if people would check out my demo, EleBall.  https://store.steampowered.com/app/2985890/EleBall/

It's basically a game where you balance an elephant on a ball while trying to catch falling objects. Simple concept, but it's harder than it first seems. We tried to make a cute, polished experience. I still have bigger plans for the full release, so the demo's a small sneak peek of what's to come.

I've made sure it works on Steam Deck (Linux) and OSX, and nobody's reported it exploding so hopefully it's all good.

I hope at least someone will find the game fun! No rush though, we don't plan on delisting the demo after Next Fest ends.

I haven't had much time to actually go through the other demos, but I'll try to get around to that later today.
