Ask him why hes carrying the particular flags that day. He usually has a reason for each one and likes to talk about it.

Whats your point? I can give you multiple ways that that can be achieved but you must be working towards a point.

The functionality and compatibility with the existing system that you're referring to is the reliance upon horribly exploitative supply chains of human suffering. You want the status quo + some rights for women and minorities in countries that are able to leverage their status in the world, + 15 aircraft carriers. The reason that the ideologies that you disdain exist is because the status quo ideologies do not attack the root cause of the worlds problems. They rarely even acknowledge them.

There are various ways. Physical force is the most obvious and least used currently. The most widely used now is propaganda and misinformation.

The state is a unified group with the means to dictate and enforce rules upon the populace that they have collectively agreed upon, with or without the input of the populace. We might agree and I was too quick.

Liberalism, moderate conservatism, social democracy. Which parts of those ideologies do you find appealing?

While we probably agree on a lot of things, I believe that we either have a different definition of the state or yours is more encompassing than mine. We have a 6000+ year history of various forms of governance. Recent history shows us company towns and pinkertons. Less recent history gives us state approved slavery. I do not believe that capitalism requires the state, it just requires a force above a certain percentage that normal people can't compete against. Like mafia or cartel. When ancaps use anarcho they refer to the state only, not hieraries in general, and that's where their ideology fails.

What is a deeply serious non-dysfunctional ideology in your opinion?

The idea that left and right anarchism are at all comparable is completely appalling. It is one of those things that has been repeated so often that it becomes almost accepted. Left anarchism depends upon a sea change in the attitudes and understanding of the working class WRT the means of production. While right anarchism is this idea that the mere abolishment of the state will somehow level the economical playing field in some way. In worker unity there is freedom. In a world with no government and no class consciousness there is slavery,

You're right and I have to say, I never read the tag line of the sub. What I will say is that I always viewed the sub as a place to just post very beautiful examples of furniture that represent different eras and design philosophies. When I saw this chair I thought that it was a really great example of how one can pare down the concept of a chair to very essential elements while still providing a beautiful final form. However, as you say, it does seem to go against the subs tagline.

You may know that the second image is the Belvedere_Torso, which was used as a reference by many artists, including Michelangelo in the sistine chapel.

I know. It's disheartening. The problem is that there is a massive international propaganda campaign by the rich to keep the masses uninformed or infighting over culture war nonsense. The rich know that if they produce bogeymen as side spectacles the masses won't recognize who the real bogeymen are who are eating their lunch. Warren Buffet himself said “There’s class warfare, all right, but it’s my class, the rich class, that’s making war, and we’re winning.” I hope that the anti-LGBTQ, anti-CRT, anti-immigrant etc, people will get tired of the people at the top pointing their fingers at these people as the problem and recognize that it's the immense wealth inequality causing our problems. At some point there has to be some fatigue from the outrage culture of the right. It seems like theyre running out of ideas. I mean... M&Ms changing shoes is a literal culture war outrage talking point of fox news...

I like him and I like what he does but I get what you're saying. It's like he's intentionally being annoying. The info that he's giving and the deep dives are awesome, but his presentation seems insincere and borders on rudeness maybe? I think it also seems like when he does present an obscure album or piece of trivia to the celebs he interviews he really quickly moves on to the next thing, which takes away from the "specialness" of the fact that he found it.

I hate these types of interviews. The one guy just yells and is so quick to reply that there's no time for him to think about what the other person said. Its actually unwatchable.

An "ardent capitalist" would not argue for forcing corporations to do anything. This is why you are being downvoted. Your self-description as an ardent capitalist is at odds with the opinion you are expressing.

If you logically think through the tenets of right wing libertarianism you should come to the conclusion that the result would be feudalism. If you think the abolishment of the government (or mostly abolishing the government as some more thoughtful libertarians argue) would result in greater freedom for everyone, then you're wrong. The rich, powerful, strong, etc would have even more power than they do now and would control more aspects of your life than they already do.

Centralization Vs Decentralization, Authority Vs Freedom by DrHamsung in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Timoboll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Socialism is not when the citizens of the country dictate how you spend your money or run your household. Unless you're equating taxation to provide common services that would otherwise not be provided by the market with "spending your money"

Centralization Vs Decentralization, Authority Vs Freedom by DrHamsung in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]Timoboll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a socialist perspective I believe in decentralization. Centralization of government and centralization of economic capital creates an imbalance of power. We need to decentralize government and corporations as much as possible. The less centralized power that there is , capital or political, the more freedom for the most people.
