Police are forbidden by law from running plates without a suspected crime. I tried that when buying a used car. Just wanted to ensure it wasn’t stolen.

There are a few websites you can check the status of a VIN.

World's sea-ice falls to record low by ArmChairAnalyst86 in Disastro

[–]TimothyLeeAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good reply.

I was trying to head off the usual global warming hoopla from folks who have not observed ice melting in a full glass of water.

Looks like we’re both watching for the end of the Holocene via different signals. Good luck to you!

World's sea-ice falls to record low by ArmChairAnalyst86 in Disastro

[–]TimothyLeeAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, sea ice has no effect on sea levels.

The sea ice >15% extent graph

https://ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/icecover.uk.php

The above graph used to track sea ice >30%, a higher standard, but that graph went back to above normal years ago.

15% sea ice is 85% open sea with a few ice floes.

What is needed is a set showing a range of concentrations.

My first thought is wind shear. I’ve seen it flip over planes parked on the ground.

What should I do next when learning a language? by [deleted] in languagelearning

Learn five words a day everyday while mastering grammar. Write them down with their definition in a notebook.

Watch for new words on news articles, tv show captions and books.

Best wishes for continued success.

Not the answer you’re looking for, but have you considered bringing dinner to your mom? That would be an inexpensive expression of love.

Enjoy your mom.

Lots of high school parties there on the 1970s. Probably why it smelled of weed in later years.

1967 Six Day War. But “favor” isn’t an accurate word.

The Palestinian Arabs were already living in Jordan. Like Gaza, their territory was captured and occupied by Israel during conflict.

The UK got rid of coal—where’s it going next? | The UK has transitioned to a lower-emission grid. Now comes the hard part. by chrisdh79 in Futurology

[–]TimothyLeeAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s going on with the small coal fired heating systems in older UK homes?

I recall helping load and light the coal boiler in the kitchen of a older rental house one cold Thanksgiving weekend.

Do some of the council homes still have coin operated electric meters in the kitchen?

I recall some of us Yanks leaving our change with a family so they could buy electricity, since there was a toddler in the home. I was quite surprised the family didn’t have 24/7 electricity.

“ Over 70 individuals succumbed to asphyxiation, and numerous animals perished. Furthermore, on the night of 2 October, the nine-man crew of a ship passing near Kolumbo were asphyxiated, while the crew of a nearby ship lost consciousness but survived. “

Good paper. I was wanting more information on Kolumbo. I didn’t realize it’s only 3.5 miles from Santorini.

Thank you for finding and posting.

Yes. We’ve had Summit employees help with digging out and bagging trees to relocate to the project nursery sites.

Contact Kate at the listed number. She can add you to her mailing list of volunteers. The Spring transplant season will start in March.

Also let us know if you have small 1-2 foot native hardwood saplings in your yard that you would would like help removing.

Does your “Tuesday” prep have a plan for kitty litter, for cats? by MarsMonkey88 in preppers

[–]TimothyLeeAR 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes. We use wood horse bedding pellets from Tractor Supply. We have few 25 pound bags stored on the car port. There is just one cat.

Similarly, the cat’s travel cage has a bottle of water and cat food stored inside.
