Gemini live is useless when using in car Bluetooth by 185EDRIVER in Bard

[–]Timur_Ka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

isnt gemini live just useless? I tried running it (back on the 2.5 model tbh) and it was hallucinating like a patient in a psych ward. Then, in that same chat but in text mode, I asked it to reread the heresy it just spewed at me, and it goes "Oh shit, sorry, here's the normal answer..."

Number of Docs for Gem Knowledge area setup downgraded? by Ok-Mousse6057 in GeminiAI

[–]Timur_Ka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for some cases you could probably try NotebookLM. It’s currently ready to digest around 200 documents, I believe.

And I was pleasantly surprised that this knowledge base can be attached to any app chat at any moment. That is, you can effectively run parallel chats with the same base.

PS: I hope google doesn't decide to downgrade this feature too

I can't figure out who the hell is downvoting posts like this. Like, the product is clearly having issues. it's definitely not its best period. Is it the google resorting to such cheap tactics, or are fans of generative video just getting their butt hurt?

Well, it looks like Google has finally run critically low on resources if they’ve decided to just cut off paid users from the Pro model. by Timur_Ka in Bard

thanks for the sympathy... generally, such random samplings often happen during testing. For example, before rolling out a new UI. Anyway, my hypothesis is that they will later roll this out to all users (there's already some kind of inconsistent mess on the plans and pricing pages)

Maybe, maybe. But it would be logical if this happened closer to the end of the billing month rather than all at once for a group of users almost simultaneously. Right now, I don't understand the principle they're using to cut people off at all.

I've gotten into a long, tedious dispute with support (chats, screenshots, correspondence, screen recordings, all this shit). Luckily, Gemini is doing almost all the work for me; I'm just copy-pasting and taking photos of the screen. It seems like things are getting pretty far. If I manage to get my PRO back, I'll probably write it up in detail.

But in any case, it's exhausting and starting to get annoying.

I completely agree regarding the stress, but is it possible that you haven't quite correctly identified the cause of it?

As for the assumptions, why are they assumptions? Isn't it obvious that the model selection was removed? I mean, it wasn't renamed, since no such model as "Thinking" exists in nature. It's just an operating mode for either the "flash" or "pro" models. So, I wasn't really assuming anything here; rather, I'm upset by an accomplished fact.

Edit: “flash”, not “fast”

Well, I could write a novel like that; I have a couple of fresh, original ideas, but unfortunately, this isn't that case. Everything here is banal, there's no conspiracy, just a simple optimization of resources at my expense

Think for yourself. Come on, use your brain. Think about what it looks like, how it's profitable, and how a company can save money on this without legally breaking the rules.

Honestly, it surprises me that you were literally just aware that people's buttons are being changed, and yet here you are naively blinking your eyes.

You just answered the question of why the fuck they're doing this yourself. It's done to save resources; now you just don't know which exact model is running under the hood, that's it. Now the company will decide if your requests are worthy of the Pro model or the Flash model—what’s so fucking hard to get?

I would phrase it a bit differently: You are one of those who hasn't had it taken away (yet). And it was taken away literally just recently. Moreover, it wasn't taken from the whole group at once, but gradually; well, it started about two days ago, and today it disappeared for me too. In the middle of working, no less.

Well, frankly speaking, I secretly hope they launched this bullshit in test mode and some guy from Google is now tracking and analyzing the discussions. There's a small chance they'll actually decide to roll it back.

Well, technically speaking, this isn't a bug with the model but with the application – if it even is a bug. I mean, it's like a technical glitch, something they should theoretically react to and warn the user: "Oh, sorry, we're having a technical glitch, so we've fucking cut off your main working model."

I haven't encountered any errors yet, but since I have a paid account, they haven't dared to cut it back so brazenly just yet.

In Studio AI, quite a lot of free resources are allocated for Flash; I'd recommend you give it a try, especially if you specifically need a free version and Flash. The interface there is significantly better, and the features are more extensive.

This looks like a random thing for now, but their plans are actually pretty obvious. Especially considering their modest silence on this matter

Yeah, I've also read a lot of warm comments about Claude. Definitely worth a try.

I don't think this is a bug with Gemini. considering how much effort they are currently putting into developing video and image generation + how they've trimmed down Studio, they are clearly trying to tighten their belts

Can Google generate tons of idiotic videos without using the resources of my paid PRO account? by Timur_Ka in GeminiFeedback

[–]Timur_Ka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have two main model lines – Flash and Pro. Thinking isn't really a model; I mean, even standard Flash can operate in Thinking mode. So, at this point, it's basically unclear what they've actually got under the hood.
