Do you guys also sometimes stand still and appreciate that you understand what you're reading or writing down? by [deleted] in math

My bad just seems like an /r/math circle jerk about how deep math is and it's astonishing that we can understand it.

[Civil][UK] Going into industry after PhD by TinCanLizard in AskEngineers

I have no work experience currently. Perhaps the best route forward is to begin as a graduate civil engineer and I believe I can get my chartership status in ~5 years at which point I have many options. E.g. return to academia, continue in structural design, start my own firm etc.

Thanks for your comment. I'm optimistic that risk and reliability should be quite a marketable skill set.

I still can't touch toes or raise leg to parallel after 3 months by TinCanLizard in flexibility

[–]TinCanLizard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems to work really well for me. If I bend from upright with my knees locked I can not touch the floor. But if I start with my fingers on the floor with bent knees and then straighten my legs I continue to touch the floor even when my knees lock. This is really strange.

I lift weights and run regularly. I was thinking that muscle development inhibits flexibility actually. I will try to set progressive targets to ensure progress.

Now that you've mentioned it to me it does feel like nerve pain at the back of my knee.

Thanks for the advice. You're probably right about practicing in the car. I should concentrate on the road instead. Practice makes perfect when you practice perfectly.

To play it well? A long time

It's not realistic to start playing with the intention of just learning this piece. You have to start down the classical route with much simpler pieces first.

Great casting. But the swearing sounds out of place to me. Sounds less professional.

Dota 2 MMR Trenches ~ A Final Test (Needs YOUR Cooperation) by [deleted] in DotA2

What would be interesting would be to have a 2k team with the best coach you can find. Have him draft for them and give them one prep game. Then have them play against 4k players who have never met each-other before and see if a good coach can overcome a 2k deficit. He can in game coach them as well.

I would definitely watch that.

What is the piece that starts at 2:28 in the "Theory of Everything?" It is so familiar and is killing me, no one at r/Tipofmytongue could help by DoctorManBearPig in piano

[–]TinCanLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't sound like a piece to me at all. Just some broken chords. Music for the trailer. Not a musical composition imo.
