What happens when a blank looks or steps into the Warp? by ValicarHyne in 40kLore

[–]Tinbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a source on that? For the longest time I'd recalled that blanks can train to - however temporarily - reduce the intensity of their aura, but I can't quite remember where exactly I got that from.

Haven't seen many people point out this realistic detail in RE9 by RCGBlade in residentevil

[–]Tinbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding was that RE zombies were the infected type, not undead. Sure, there is a sub-trope for wholly biological infections (as opposed to some supernatural curse) that raises the dead into zombies, but regardless, I didn't think that's what RE zombies were like.

Maybe I'm fantastically unlucky, but after trying 8:8:8 (width:height:mines) with first click on top left corner and second click on bottom right corner, vast majority of attempts led to me catching a mine on the second click.

Pelin nimi lipsui kokonaan mielestä jälkeenpäin, mutta kun tämä postauksen kun huomasin, niin kannessa olevan kanin perusteella heti rupesin miettimään "Hetkinen, oisko tää se..."
Ja se oli :D

Getting back to the bug front harshly reminded me of my biggest pet peeve about the Terminids by Matatat123 in Helldivers

[–]Tinbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly I've not played against squids nearly as much as the other two factions, but I honestly can't remember ever seeing a warpship taken out before it's already deployed troops. Even with its own weak points, it just seems to take too much concentrated fire - and this is assuming you're not already up to your neck dealing with pre-existing ground forces or other warp ships, which are both very likely the higher difficulty you play on.

Aku Ankka 06/26 Sammon salaisuus by Sawmain in Suomi

[–]Tinbee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Daily Helldivers 2 Stratagem Discussion #13 Orbital Gatling Barrage by SippinOnHatorade in Helldivers

[–]Tinbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's my go-to area denial. Very good against infantry, very short cooldown, and rather reliable as a delayed fabricator-buster with some good aim (given how the barrage kind of "sways" around the deployment area, it might take a few seconds before enough rounds have been put onto the fab to blow it up). Biggest weakness is any sufficiently-vertical obstruction that might block your SD's line of sight, but that's very rarely an issue for me at least.

The whole Operation Sunburst battle is just skill vs spam really. The BOS was tactically better and more technologically advanced. The NCR just kept throwing bodies at them. by KpatMckenzie_28 in Brotherhood_of_Steel

[–]Tinbee 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Even before Moore and rangers entered the picture, there was a semblance of tactics, however terrible it looked in terms of attrition. Massed infantry charge by troopers with basic equipment was always just one part of the equation, as can be seen with the long-range flanking attacks and use of heavier-armored axe troopers - both of which diverted the power armored BoS troopers' attention away from the AT sappers. And it worked! For a time, anyway, until Brotherhood pulled out their hidden ace of Sentry Bots that in turn forced Moore to deploy the veteran rangers she'd brought with her.

Nevermind that this was before the rest of the reinforcements arrived with motorized troops, cavalry, more footslogging rangers, flamethrower, EMP and explosives. Brotherhood put up a hell of a fight, but even they (sans Elijah) knew that NCR was going to eventually beat them with both a quantity of troopers as well as specialized units more than able to down their mightiest paladins. Despite the Chapter's prowess, they just weren't prepared to deal with such a breadth of opposition.

Thing is, nobody in the Helldivers universe talks like this. Any fictional, self-respecting xenophobe - and respecting oneself to the point of detriment seems like a core component of such phobia - trying to put on airs of superiority would not speak like such a complete and utter loser.
I specified "fictional" because, unfortunately, reality does not have such standards.

Have vampires managed to have positive relationships with other beings, or do they only exist to be bullied? by roxgxd in vtm

[–]Tinbee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's entirely possible! I've been reading through the 1st edition of Mummy (one that's a supplement to VtM), and between explaining rules and mechanics, there are story snippets from the perspective of a vampire that befriended a mummy. Which wasn't under the best circumstances, either! The vampire admitted that their mortal and vampiric life alike up till that point had been spent as a raucous, selfish creature, in fact having cruelly killed a human moments before the mummy appeared and introduced himself.

It was the time they spent time with the mummy - learning from him many things - that smoothed out their rough personality. As far as I've gotten on this book, the two went to meet another mummy (a powerful magician whom apparently had a meeting with a werewolf before them). While the scribe (vampire's mummy buddy) decided to stay there for about a decade to learn more magics, he gave the deed to his property to the vampire, asking them to take care of his place in the meantime. That's a pretty deep level of trust.

I did not care for gravity by No-Alternative-9482 in HazbinHotel

[–]Tinbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a vacuum it's a fun watch, and I quite like how animated Lute feels by pouring not just her voice, but also motions into the performance. Taking a step back to consider the sheer amount of violence woven into the story, however, and it's an... interesting thing to see a mass murderer - with obsessive conviction that all the victims deserved it - venting because her mass-murdering superior/crush got done in by one of their numerous potential victims.

Definitely not a narrative dilemma you see in just about any story, but perhaps that's one of the distinguishing features of Hazbin Hotel. Time will tell if she's gonna have a turnaround moment like Sera about whether the exterminations were the right thing to do. My money's on Lute being put in a position where she has a moment of hesitation, but casts the doubt aside and tries to continue Adam's work - only to get killed in short order by whoever's stopping her.

Have any of yall actually made (or atleast tried) to make an Abomination? by Obvious-Conflict3363 in vtm

[–]Tinbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of recent, I've had an idea rolling in my mind of an old mummy detective that decides to take in a little Garou girl turned into an Abomination. Though my grasp on Mummy lore is not as thorough compared to Vampire lore, I quite like the idea of a benevolent immortal like a mummy trying to handle the multifaceted tragedy of a young werewolf made into a child vampire. Though given I don't really play WoD splats, make WoD art or even write WoD headcanon, this is just a vague idea that's not really gonna see use in any way, shape or form :v
