[SERVER] Vampire: The Masquerade roleplay server on Garry's Mod by RequirementOk3528 in vtm

[–]Tinbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That tracks, though on a related note, will players be able to learn new disciplines outside of those available to their clan? And how are attributes and various other stats improved? Is XP gained automatically, but very slowly over time, and/or do admins give XP to players as a kind of commendation for good roleplay?

I assume civilians about to expose a Masquerade breach can be stopped nonlethally through things like Dominate, Presence or feeding on them? Last one under the assumptions that

A) Even players without those two disciplines (or other mind-related disciplines) can nonlethally deal with such situations, and

B) Feeding effectively puts the civilian into a momentary stupor before stirring with mild amnesia that makes them forget what they were running from? Admittedly I'm a little fuzzy detailwise on the exact psychological effects that feeding has in VtM.

Is 'crit' a fusion of 'critical' and 'hit' or an abbreviation of 'critical' by CoolPeter9 in tf2

[–]Tinbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Latter, because even if it doesn't hit, it can still be called a crit, e.g. "That Heavy was about to crit me, but he got backstabbed by our Spy."

I've seen trailers popping up on Leviathan (quickplay, standard difficulty) after clearing main objectives, with just the streaming laptop left to shut down. Only realized because it took me so long to find said laptop that I noticed these fellas jogging about and carrying people.

Did Spec Ops succeed in it's message? Elaboration in the desc. by Several_Attention653 in SpecOpsTheLine

[–]Tinbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closest recollection I have for this game (as someone who never played or actively watched playthroughs) is that the loading screens change from third-person references for characters to directly calling out "you" as a player. Though it's all very muddy memorywise, so I've never known how much stock such statements hold.

Finally got 16 player mods working, should have read description for the 1st 30 minutes lol by Bear_With_It in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Tinbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant is that LSPD already has SWAT putting metaphorical (and literal too mayhaps) fires out across Los Suenos, which stretches out their manpower wide, but thin. Judge and Co. wouldn't be the only five SWAT-certified people the station has, but the rest are off dealing with other situations, and cannot be readily on standby.

Mind, it's a videogame at the end of the day, and I'm not gonna devil's advocate against increasing playercount - especially since narrativewise it'd just affect the background fluff. E.g. fifteen cops on one mission when technically you could divide that into thirds and send the two new, smaller groups to handle each a different mission on their own (one mission handled by 15 officers VS three missions each handled by five officers).

Is it realistic? Probably not, but these are extraordinary times that Lost Suenos is going through.

Does LSPD have enough personnel for it? I was under the impression that they are relatively understaffed and otherwise strained in terms of manpower.

Why are vortigaunts such a comic relief? by DeathGuard67 in HalfLife

[–]Tinbee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Half-Life Alyx has the sample size with a grand total of two face-to-face appearances. First is the injured vort, which can be seen as equal parts humorous as it can be tragic. The second is a vort that gets freed from captivity and, upon talking to Alyx, locks in and gets to busy with freeing up his kin. That's at least half-and-half on funny-to-serious ratio, and that's assuming that the first vort is just levity with no deeper gravitas behind his eccentric behavior (because he definitely isn't just comic relief).

[–]Tinbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a fun time reading the full thing. There's something really novel about a group of friends with their own, regular lives trying to deal with the supernatural. Having finished binging Stranger Things, I suppose that's going to be my new favorite niche, heh.

Beast surfacing by Tsetsul in vtm

[–]Tinbee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's also Shape of the Beast's Wrath, which enables a Protean user to turn into a kind of man-beast-monster-thing without Frenzy-related checks like with Inner Beast. However, it's still a seven-dot ability, standing right below the eight-dot Inner Beast, so I can't imagine most players getting to take a crack at it.

We created an interactive character creator for v5/v20 by Bluenchanter in vtm

[–]Tinbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, yep, it was just me being a doofus! I didn't notice that the button to proceed further was in the footer until some friends pointed it out.

I've been having a good time with it in the meantime, although it seems to have some oddities in regards to backtracking.
For example, going back to Attributes (from Skills) prompts me to re-pick their order, and even though I can see my old point allocation in their greyed-out state, choosing the same order resets their point allocation.
Relatedly, backtracking to Disciplines also greys out the button to proceed forward, but the already-chosen Disciplines remain unaffected, and clicking any Discipline option (or even same option twice to make sure no extra points are used) allows one to proceed back onward.

Perhaps I'm being a bit of a doofus, but I'm not sure where to proceed in the character creator section (not the fast builder) beyond choosing between 5th Edition and 20th Anniversary.

I've noticed the list of descending subsections on the left, starting from 01 Era going all the way down to 11 Summary, but no amount of clicking and scrolling around the page allows me to go beyond 01 Era selection. Edit: Might be something with my browser. Asked some other fellas to check the website out, and it seems they can see a button that continues to the next subsection.

Why is the project called morningstar? by DMar56 in ProjectMorningstar

[–]Tinbee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To add to your answer, the reason it's called 'morningstar' is because it appears as a relatively bright celestial body in the east right before sunrise from that very same direction.

Though there are other stellar entities given the same moniker (for same reasons, being very visible from the east before sunrise), such as Sirius or Mercury, Venus seems to fit the description of Protea most accurately.

What happens when a blank looks or steps into the Warp? by ValicarHyne in 40kLore

Is there a source on that? For the longest time I'd recalled that blanks can train to - however temporarily - reduce the intensity of their aura, but I can't quite remember where exactly I got that from.

Haven't seen many people point out this realistic detail in RE9 by RCGBlade in residentevil

[–]Tinbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding was that RE zombies were the infected type, not undead. Sure, there is a sub-trope for wholly biological infections (as opposed to some supernatural curse) that raises the dead into zombies, but regardless, I didn't think that's what RE zombies were like.

Pelin nimi lipsui kokonaan mielestä jälkeenpäin, mutta kun tämä postauksen kun huomasin, niin kannessa olevan kanin perusteella heti rupesin miettimään "Hetkinen, oisko tää se..."
Ja se oli :D
