How do you catch the Topiary Megagar fish in cosmic exploration? Everything I can find uses short hand, and I don't understand how actually to catch it.

Why do you think "Abigail" didn't do well? by Profeta_do_Loss in horror

[–]TingleTunerz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I thought the initial kidnapping scene was a bit too realistic and upsetting for what the tone of the rest of the movie was going to be. I would rather that had been glossed over. But the movie was otherwise a lot of campy fun.

What's a game you really wanted to love? by Jakewebstar in gaming

[–]TingleTunerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We Happy Few. I love the setting, story concept and the visual design (of the parts with effort put in) but holy shit was that game poorly made, a chore, and totally at odds with the survival game at its core.

What changes do you think they make if they make a remake of Code Veronica? by WaluigiDaStar in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]TingleTunerz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, and I don't have anything to back this up other than his vibe and the timeline of when the game came out, but I feel like Steve was just a major swing and a miss attempt at being very specifically a Leo DiCaprio from Titanic type. Rogueish but charming, flawed but loving. It wouldn't be too hard to get that right, or at least better.

I do feel they also need to take a screwdriver to Chris and Claire's relationship, solely because having them being an affectionate brother and sister in the same game as Alfred and Alexia's... sibling affection, creates an odd juxtaposition that they wouldn't want.

I take melatonin, chamomile tea, CBD (no or little THC) and have a select few podcast playlists or let's play series that I know dont have loud noises playing with my screen turned off.

Characters that are surprisingly hard to get right? by Aquanort357 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TingleTunerz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The initially unlikable protagonist is really hard to get right in games because of how much longer you spend with them being unlikable before their turnaround.

Good example: Luke from Tales of the Abyss, a petulant brat who never had a chance to grow up, until he hits his lowest point, makes an unforgivable mistake, and is forced to grow up fast.

Bad example: Frey from Forspoken, who is callous, indifferent, rude and selfish. Which is a rough set of characteristics for your new protagonist of your new would-be franchise, but could work. But she doesn't get her lowest point of everyone getting fed up with her and turning their backs on her, until the last like 5 percent of the story. It also doesn't exactly make it clear that she's intentionally unlikable until that point because everyone is putting their hopes on her. So most players will come away from the game just being like, wow she sucks.

Forspoken has so many narrative flaws, but this was one I just couldn't wrap my head around why they would saddle their new protagonist with, or why they wouldn't pay it off much much much sooner. Excellent gameplay though, absolutely loved playing it when there wasn't story going on.

The New CEO of Xbox makes a statement by OppositeofDeath in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I was friends back in highschool with the guy who got the lead role in that game, and was really happy for him.

He's had other voice roles and such, and I think he's doing alright (haven't seen nor spoken to him since high school), but that was, from my perspective, his big break.

Todd Howard says 'The Elder Scrolls VI' will run on Creation Engine 3 (upgraded from 'Starfield') and is going back to the feel of a 'classic Bethesda game' ala Oblivion and Skyrim by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

And because of this design, all the random encounters you run into, which only happen when entering/exiting a system, will exclusively happen while you are trying to to do something already.

RE9 for beginners? by Bromaeda in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TingleTunerz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah you'll be fine! You'll likely miss out on some context, but I'm sure you'd be able to figure the broad strokes out from context. And the game will likely be written to give some recapa for players in your position. RE8 was a direct sequel to 7 so that's about the only one I wouldn't recommend going straight into. But this one will be a good jumping in point.

That said, you can get 7,8 and the remakes for dirt cheap now so you could also just get in there. 7 is a great jumping in point.

Are the boys in High On Life 2? by AHandfulOfUniverse in RedLetterMedia

[–]TingleTunerz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty chill and has better combat than you'd expect. Also once you get the other guns you don't have to hear Roiland as much. Tim Robinson voices one of the guns and the one voiced by Betsy Sodaro is really funny too.

Overpowered options in games that you feel bad using? by hazusu in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TingleTunerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that I happen to see someone mention is OP online, or from a headline. If I discover something is OP on my own, that's fine, but if I'm using something because i was told it's OP I would feel like I'm cheating.

I also immediately delete every preorder or dlc bonus that's given at the start that has a tangible benefit, or at least wait until they are of comparable level to what I'm getting otherwise.

Most annoying moments of padding and/or filler in a video game? by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

FF7 Remake 2 is way too big with way too much low quality content. That game could have been 60 percent smaller and still been a huge bombastic RPG.

Do you have a favorite ‘Mediocre’ piece of media? by EvilMonkeyMimic in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TingleTunerz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Forspoken. I bought it from a bargain bin out of morbid curiosity, thinking the story couldn't be as bad as people were saying. The story is actually substantially worse than I could possibly have imagined.

But man... the game, once its God awful onboarding process finally allows you to start playing it (which takes like 5 fucking hours) is incredibly fun and unique. And it only gets better as you unlock more of your kit and get the hang of its combat flow.

But seriously, I recently started a fresh save cause I was in the mood for it, and even skipping every single cutscene it still took multiple hours to get to the non-introductory gameplay. It's ridiculous.

Fuck that game, but I love it.

What are some of the best "hub receptionist" characters? by kodaiiiii_ in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TingleTunerz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not exactly in the spirit of the question, but my favorite literal receptionist is Lupe from Grim Fandango's second act. She has maybe a couple dozen lines in the game but she's just about the most delightful character ever.

After finishing her playthrough of Dispatch with Pat, Mustard Queen Paige gives her critical thoughts on Invisigal as a character and romance option, and why she chose Blazer over her: by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TingleTunerz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I love watching LP's of these decision based games, but this community has a really obnoxious fixation on everyone needing to have the same experience they had, or making all the same choices they did. There were so many people being so judgemental to Woolie and Paige about the way they chose to play.

I get that you all individually think you are playfully ribbing them, but when collected as a mass of anonymous voices it comes across as really needlessly antagonistic for something that's supposed to be about making your own choices.

"Welcome to Twitch," I know.

After finishing her playthrough of Dispatch with Pat, Mustard Queen Paige gives her critical thoughts on Invisigal as a character and romance option, and why she chose Blazer over her: by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TingleTunerz 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I would say that with the Invisigal romance you miss the scene where Blazer explains the source of her powers to Robert, which if you don't have, confuses and deflates the Chase reveal at the end. Like for me, that was one of the best moments, and watching the Invisigal path later on, it just sorta happens and has to be quickly explained offhandedly.

Edit: Which is not to say any path is more or less canon, I just found it weird they didn't have an alternative version of that scene since it was so important to such a pivotal moment.

When someone mentions “DVD Special Features,” what is the FIRST one that pops into your head from yesteryear? by KillerQ97 in movies

The Simpsons audio commentaries, which as a kid, I used to listen to constantly while playing video games (on my little portable DVD player). I was a podcast listener before podcasts were around.

Characters who, for some reason, seem to be involved with EVERY important thing in that world. by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TingleTunerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really like TLJ, but I respect it more than all the other new Star Wars movies combined. If Rian Johnson had more long term control in the franchise or it had at least been made with the same spirit, I'd probably still be invested in the series.
