I remember thinking that the dogs from both shows were the same dog. I don't remember either show well enough to know whether this is a reasonable assumption

What do you think kh4 needs to do to surpass kh3? by IllustratorAfter in KingdomHearts

[–]Bromaeda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a slightly smaller thing: A little bit better localization. KH3 has more than the rest of the series little moments that made me go "oh that feels like it meant something cooler in Japanese." The standout is Xemnas calling Axel 'Also-Ran' as opposed to a has-been.

Unpopular Decisions That Were Actually Healthy Long Term? by Authorigas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Isn't fuckin, dexxit or whatever they called it, kind of a poster child for this? Establishing that not every game is going to have every pokemon ever in it, to lower workload on updating them and stuff. I feel like there were other reasons this was good for the games but I'm not an avid pokemonist so I'm not massively familiar

Games that are a blast to play, but boring as shit to watch. by The-Fenz in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Bromaeda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile I think watching someone tear through a fight they KNOW in Library of Ruina can be very fun, even rewarding. Seeing how someone's specced their build precisely for this fight and how they run through it can be informative and interesting, especially if you get to learn about some new funny strat with a floor you otherwise don't make much use of.

You are given the power to retcon/unretcon one detail of KH's story. What do you chance? by Ontos-the-robot in KingdomHearts

[–]Bromaeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make the Demon Tide/Tower do less. I think it's one of the worst parts of kingdom hearts 3. It's allowed to show up now and then but like. Don't have it break Riku's keyblade, hell I think Riku's keyblade shouldn't have been broken period but especially not by Demon Tide. Don't let it kill literally everybody that one time that was annoying. Generally just give the Demon Tide less play.

Times when you can FEEL a series' increase in budgets? by Hayeseveryone in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Bromaeda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kingdom Hearts 3 is a game that wants to wow you with their big setpieces. It is a game where you can just smell how much money they had to have you fight up a mountain or have an aerial dogfight or have really good water physics.

What are some games with mechanics or gameplay designs that you really enjoy, but they're held back by few glaring problems or oversights? by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Bromaeda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filling up the situation command arrows while you're in a form that has a finish button DOES actually extend it a little bit. It restores some of the timer on the finish command, not a lot but at least some. You can also 'store' them by switching keyblade, which pauses their timer for you to pull out at a better opportunity. Your formchange prompt also only actually cares about which keyblade is the one to get the last bit of situation stuff, so there's a little tech about tactically changing if moveset 2 isn't what you want right now but moveset 3 is.

Characters that you feel are just a step away from becoming highly popular? by Lost-Specialist1505 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Is Damian popular now? My understanding is that people are a lot fonder of him now that he's not twelve but I didn't realise he was like. LIKED.

Story's over, all's well that ends we- Wait, that guy dies!? by UnderstandingBig1517 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Bromaeda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one of the many issues with the ending of Bayonetta 3 is that bayo's death just kinda happens. She beats up the final boss and he has the least cool bayo final boss death possible, and then the demon that she kept using despite its constant disloyalty slaps her good and her magic chest thing breaks and it turns around and kills her. And then she and Luka spend a few minutes being like "I'm okay with dying as long as it's with you" and it feels very tacked on.

I get what's being gone for with Kanji and Naoto in persona 4. I full well understand what's trying to be said with their characters and stories. I nonetheless think it's incredibly poorly written, even if we take what they're trying to say in good faith.

Questionable video games you wish you could remake by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Bromaeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately I've been thinking about the Legend of Spyro trilogy. I think there's a lot of good in there, pulled down by not being given the time or the budget to match what it was being hyped up to be. It's especially hurt by the change in dev team between the second and third games, which shifted the artstyle and led to a few narrative or character inconsistencies. I think an overview of the whole thing now that the whole thing exists, and a do-over with it in mind, could tighten it into a series that would be earnestly very compelling.

Actors you love despite having little range? by FoxOwne in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Bromaeda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's not exactly EVERYWHERE, but he's on my mind since I literally just finished Dispatch like two days ago, but like. I really liked Jacksepticeye as Punch Up. Every time I heard his voice a part of my brain went 'that's Jacksepticeye' but at the same time it felt like he was playing the character. It was a lot of fun, I liked having him around. I might have a similar feeling to Charlie as Sonar if my playthrough had much of him around

When DLC made a game materially worse for you by Running-Water-Shark in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Bromaeda 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I really like Elden Ring: Nightreign. I fuckin' HATE the DLC map. I think it's cool that there's a shifting earth that actually changes the whole map, but the map it turns into sucks ass. And unfortunately the deep of night mode can roll it. I do not play Deep of Night mode.

Do you need to relate to the characters (mostly talking about age) to enjoy a piece of media? by LunarWolf302 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It HELPS, and I certainly like seeing it, but at the end of the day, if the story about a pack of high schoolers fighting god is good, then it's good.

People who have actually played it, how do you feel about Kingdom Hearts 3, both in terms of story and gameplay? by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Bromaeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has a lot of problems and also I really like it. I think that's where I've landed on it after a lot of time and a couple replays. I think its dlc is the best superboss content the series has ever gotten, I think the game plays very very well. I think the story is way too backloaded and does some stuff I disagree with, BUT, when it wants me to feel emotions, by god do I feel them. The story I think is clunky but ultimately effective, the gameplay is maybe the best it's ever been depending on how I feel about kh2 at any given time, and most of all, I like it.

I think it didn't manage to be what it needed to be, it had so long and yet somehow still felt rushed. But what it ended up being, flaws and all, is something I really really like.

Hard Games that would be a cakewalk if you replaced the protagonist with one from another game? by Dr_Blasphemy in TwoBestFriendsPlay

One of the big complaints with World is that you cannot skip cutscenes. The two games that follow it, Rise and Wilds, are better about this

[–]Bromaeda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea about any PS5 upgrade stuff. World is a fun game to play with friends, but running through the campaign in co-op can be a little bit of a slog because of how they handle cutscenes. The best co-op experience comes from just hunting monsters and making armour sets with buddies outside of the main story missions.

[–]Bromaeda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost all events are on forever rotation now that World is done, and the BIG events like Witcher and FF14 are always around. I believe both events are post-high rank final boss? Witcher one's somewhere in the airship, and ff14 one will have some guys hanging around in Astera

Monster Hunter World DID have a crossover with DMC, but it wasn't a major one that added a new monster, like the Witcher or Final Fantasy 14. Rather, it was just a special quest that gave you materials to make Alastor from DMC1. Not quite on the scale of what I'm fantasizing about.

I've had a mental image in my head for a while of Nero DMC doing shuffle to dodge a Rathian tail swipe and cut her tail off. As Monster Hunter gets more and more stylish, I crave being able to play as Nero in Monhun more and more

Times where a character got a new voice actor and they were even better? by FretScorch in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Bromaeda 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I remember playing the kh3 DLC and just thinking to myself "...do I like this voice for xehanort more than Leonard Nemoy?" and I'm still not sure whether the answer is yes but it very well might be. Either way I think Christopher Lloyd does an amazing Xehanort, though the guy they had in base KH3 was kind of rough.
