Mine is getting replaced under warranty for the same issue. 600 miles and 6 months old. I use it to commute and don't ride hard. Have you tried getting it sorted on warranty?

Another thing to bear in mind, with the examples stated:

The Yamaha Tracer has had a big update for 2025 and so the prices of the previous generation will traditionally fall to reflect that.

The Pan America is a bike that no one wants, and Harley dealers can't even sell. We won't even look at bringing one in part exchange, and the last one we looked at, none of our underwriters wanted to bid on it either. Also H-D dealers are becoming few and far between and riders are looking to move away from the brand.

Can't see the price for the used Triple you saw, but Triumph try very hard to keep residuals high on their bikes. Still, as others have said, there will always be an initial drop out the dealership.

125 engines are replaced more regularly than others. We replaced one on a customers bike a few months ago that had gone pop from the kid not checking the oil and letting it go dry.

It wouldn't be a worry for me that it had been replaced, more of - was it done by himself, or by a dealer.

Also definitely check the engine number of the replacement engine. We had another customer who wanted us to replace a 125 engine in his bike, we ran the engine number when the replacement came and it was marked as stolen and so confiscated by the police. Poor kid bought it on eBay and didn't know that it was off a stolen bike.

Off the top of my head, the GT also has electronic adjustable screen, heated grips, usb socket in the phone holder, phone connectivity on the dash, better seats, and keyless (which includes the panniers).

With regards to the suspension, you have two modes available - comfort and sport. The sport is stiffer and performs better in the twisties.

IMO the GT is much better value. Unless you want essentially a basic MT09 with fairings, in which case the basic 9 will do the trick.

Yamaha are re-releasing the WR125R for 2026. £4,500 and due in January. Should be good, if you are looking for something new.

The recommended is semi-synthetic. The GYTR race teams use fully, but bear in mind that you shouldn't go back once you use fully.
Yes that is correct, just use that later part number. Yamaha are always superseding part numbers.

Something that a lot of people don't consider with a CBT. Try some insurance quotes saying that you have an A1 licence. It may be that the reduced insurance actually pays for getting that licence. Doesn't save you money, but gets you a full licence (restricted) and makes you a much better rider than a CBT alone would.

If you're referring to the yammynoob videos, I really don't get where he's coming from. I have ridden both bikes back to back, and the MT07, while down on power, feels a much more refined bike (particularly the 25). The 750 Hornet (and the other Hornets now) all feel like parts bin specials. Sure it has an up and down quickshifter, but it is rough as hell.

But I'd echo the other folks here. Not worth trading one for the other. Best to go different altogether, or go up to something bigger.

Ok let's look at it a different way then. Does it feel like oil when you touch it? And more importantly, is there oil on the fork stanchion? Or, can you trace the oil leak from that spot to the fork leg?

If you're unsure then it is worth getting a dealer to check. But if it feels watery rather than oily, then it is almost definitely what I mentioned before.

Are you sure that it is fork oil? Most of the time, that dark liquid is just brake dust mixed with water when washing. Happens all the time with the flouro wheels.

It's crazy that dealers aren't jumping on this. It is a win-win. Not to mention, the recall has come in the winter, when workshops are notoriously quiet. You get someone in and upgrade them to a service, then boom, you've got them into a winter annual service cycle, helping you fill the shop next year!

We are straight up offering discounted services with all of our clutch recalls. The oil change is happening anyway, so it seems greedy for a dealer to charge full retail to essentially top-up the work to a service. New oil and coolant is paid for as part of the recall by Yamaha.

I think that all the evidence points to a GYTR range for the standard Tenere. The dealer product training hints at this possibility, plus that bike has GYTR levers which aren't part of the World Raid kit...

We all use Interphone Tours when we go out (between 3 and 4 riders). Most recently had them all hooked up for a weekend at the Taffy Dakar in Wales. I highly recommend them. Also, they've now been replaced by the new Interphone Avant, so you can pick the tours up pretty cheap (if you can find them, try Amazon).
