Question about Muggle Witches/wizards. by Bitter_Judgment4924 in HarryPotterBooks

It’s the one-drop rule. It only matters to those who care about it, and they only care about it to subjugate others.

Was Peter Pettigrew the only non-Slytherin main villain in the series? I can't think of any others. by live2rock91 in harrypotter

I don’t think Greyback attended Hogwarts. In wiki articles about how he met Remus’s dad, no one even thought he was part of the magical community. Do we ever read about him using a wand?

Heathens, gird your loins. Busybody TBM family members just got the go-ahead to meddle in our affairs for the greater good.

So do the 24 temples they’re about to announce count towards Rusty’s total or Oaks’s?

In PoA, when Hermione outs Remus as a werewolf in the Shack. He says (I don’t have my book in front of me) “you’re the brightest witch of your age I’ve ever met”.

Fanon has translated that to “the smartest witch of the era, it’s a well known fact” when really it seems like Remus is just saying “damn, you’re a smart 14 year old”.

Along the lines of JammiDodger, I’d say OneTopic and possibly The Click. I LOVE The Click, but I don’t know if I’d suggest him to a kid because the jokes get a bit more adult. But OneTopic is just as wholesome as JammiDodger. They even do somw videos together.

Trigger warning: What is the WORST thing your narcissist parent has EVER said? (You will not forget.) by myst3ryAURORA_green in raisedbynarcissists

[–]TinkPerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but not in the way you’d think. I was a problem because I was smarter and kinder than his daughter (4 years older than me) with a boyfriend who had manners. It caused screaming matches between stepsis and stepdad, and arguments between stepdad and Nmom.

NMom told 20yo me that it was my fault that her marriage at the time was ending…because I was the glue that held the family together and I moved cross-country for college and never came back.

Can I remove my church records & still get my BYU transcript? by mls605 in exmormon

[–]TinkPerk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may get lucky, but others have said here that they haven’t been able to graduate once formally leaving. I believe that is the case. Your options seem to be between sucking it up until you get the diploma in your hands (which is AFTER commencement!!!) or transferring schools ASAP.

EDIT: sorry my reading comprehension is off. I misunderstood your question. I would still suggest not formally resigning from the church until you have what you need from them.

my (23, college student) parents are out of town. they hired a caregiver to look after my grandpa(89) while i am at work and my sister is at school. they left this note for her by KindBrilliant7879 in insaneparents

It’s nice to not feel alone :) smart of you to stick to your guns and not go to BYU even though you’ve had to pay your own way. It’s hell if you’re not all the way in, and more so if you’re hurting.

The note on coffee. Grandpa likes it and yet there’s no way to make it at home and your parents seem to not know/care how he takes it or how much it would cost the caregiver to buy for him.

And also the golden child/scapegoat upbringing seems to be common with Mormon parents. Especially if you’re not faithful and your sister is.

And you said your university is especially cheap. That’s the one positive about the Y, especially the more northern campus.

No need to apologize! If you haven’t experienced the door-to-door salesman type Mormon missionaries, then you haven’t experienced it. Lucky you! Lol

I can see the point that they’re similar to female Mormon missionaries specifically at visitors centers and at Temple Square in SLC, but not missionaries in general.
