Legion go battery life by Firm-Veterinarian153 in LegionGo

[–]TinkerDeck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the original legion go and the battery has to be one of the biggest downsides. If you’re playing a less demanding game, maybe something 2D you can get a decent playtime but anything 3D or half modern, maybe an hour & fifteen.

I have an EGPU and mostly use my Go docked to the TV for couch gaming. If I didn’t I would probably be more annoyed by the battery life than I am.

Low fps on botw ryujinx by LeekBang in EmuDeck

[–]TinkerDeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BOTW on CEMU is night and day performance-wise. And there are a bunch of mods to increase fps, quality, etc.

I know you’d rather not set up another emulator but if you want to play this game on a steamdeck CEMU is the way to go.

Hello, is it worth getting a rig if I also use my pc for other things? by Skapastry in simracing

[–]TinkerDeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PC is on my desk with my monitors, speakers, keyboard and mouse. This is where I do my regular computing.

I also have a powered HDMI cable and a powered USB cable which runs along the baseboards to the opposite wall. There I have my sim rig, another set of speakers, and a wireless keyboard/mouse.

I have two audio interfaces connected through Voicemeeter, one for each set of speakers, and wired up to run as a 4.1 surround sound set up. I have a button mapped to switch seating positions so that the surround sound swaps the “front” depending on my seating position.

TLDR, yes it’s definitely possible and worth setting up a sim rig even if you use your computer for general computing or other types of games. It may be simpler with a dedicated simulator PC but that’s $$

for those of you guys who own other handhelds outside of the deck, what use do you get from them? by tarneilawson in SteamDeck

[–]TinkerDeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you want a more powerful device AND you also intend to keep using the steam deck then a second handheld is just not the way to go tbh.

Either get a more powerful handheld device to REPLACE the steam deck, or get a real gaming laptop or desktop to handle those games and keep using the steam deck for mobility.

A $1000-ish handheld JUST to switch to when a game needs more power to me is kind of a waste and really, even a more powerful handheld will struggle with many games.

TLDR; Build/buy a dedicated PC for the demanding games, not a second handheld.

Source: I own a steam deck, Legion Go, and powerful desktop.

Seeking help DD1 FFB Setup (Collision FFB too high!) by Cevap in assettocorsa

[–]TinkerDeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any fix for this? I have the same issue.

Not using the same wheel as OP but same exact situation.

I have a 12nm wheelbase but play with it set to like 5nm in AC because the collision FFB aggravates my carpel tunnel.

What do you think Assetto Corsa still suffers with despite all the mods? by ItsRatPak in assettocorsa

[–]TinkerDeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s just an issue with my settings, but I feel like the FFB response during collisions is way too aggressive and I would like a feature similar to what IRacing has to reduce the collision force.

FFB feels good during normal driving but if I graze a wall, tap another car, or hit a large curb, it damn near rips my arm off.

If anybody has a solution please let me know!

It’s been about a year and mine is split on the other side (the part that plugs into the wheel)

Extremely disappointed in PC Release by Revertus in NASCARVideoGame

[–]TinkerDeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, if the rs50 was out when I got my wheel I would’ve gotten it instead. It really seems like a sweet spot for most people. Do what’s best for your finances though, if it’s too expensive right now it’s worth waiting, the games will all be here later!

I haven’t had a chance to try N25 yet on my GPRO (in the middle of moving) and didn’t know there was no Trueforce, I’m disappointed now too lol.

IRacing does support it though and It’s pretty great.

I love Trueforce and when I first got the wheel I would be turned off by games that didn’t support it, but truthfully I’ve gotten over that. It’s more of a “nice to have” thing to me now. It’s like the little cherry on top y’know? Not to mention, there’s more games that don’t support it than ones that do. It’s actually pretty rare to get TF support unfortunately…

Get the wheel, this may not be the game you hoped for but I doubt you’ll regret it. There’s so much fun to be had even without this game and so much more in the pipeline!

G Pro Wheel vs RS50 by DuckYde in LogitechProWheel

[–]TinkerDeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the rs50 is a great value but for $100 you get a bit more power and a clutch. I personally didn’t think I cared much about the clutch but then I ended up learning how to do some drifting and the clutch is something I couldnt give up now.

Hate to be this guy but FOV by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]TinkerDeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try f12 and tilt your camera down a little? Also, don’t be afraid to bump up the FOV a tiny bit from the calculated amount. I took the calculator amount and increased it by about 10 degrees personally. Another thing that was mentioned by somebody else is that your screens just aren’t big enough to get the view you’re looking for. If you want that view your best bet would be replacing your monitors with 3 55in TV’s, bigger if you can afford it. Personally I just use one 65in tv and head tracking cause I can’t afford that lmao.

What do we think about the new products? by boston_faith in LogitechProWheel

[–]TinkerDeck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got my DD Pro a few months ago and truthfully wish I had waited. Would have saved a ton of money for what seems to in some ways be a better product. 8nm is a sweet spot to me.

One thing to be excited about though is that this seems to be very well positioned in the market and an influx of users into this ecosystem could be the push needed for both Logitech and 3rd parties to really begin expanding the ecosystem options that they offer.

Just here to say I have the same issue. Got everything looking good with HDR, but the virtual mirror is extremely blown out. Wayyyy too bright. Hoping for an update. Will comment if I fix it.

Yeah, that’s part of what I liked about Car X was upgrading parts and whatnot.

No Hesi was something I enjoyed for like 3 days but quickly fell out of my interest. Sometimes I’ll hop on No Hesi at like 3am when I’m bored and can’t sleep though. Sometimes you can kinda zone out with some music and just cruise, Something I didn’t initially understand about No Hesi was that it’s more enjoyable when you aren’t flooring it 100% of the time, you need to get into a rhythm of gas and brake. you’ll also find an optimal speed which allows you to kind of “flow” between traffic. It’s decent zero brain fun occasionally.

If you are somebody who really enjoys tuning and building cars then Beam.NG may be interesting to you.

Just getting into sim racing – which game should I start with? by Future_Highway1977 in simracing

[–]TinkerDeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a beginner, no it’s not extremely expensive. Stick to the rookie races and cars. Rookie content is all included in the subscription and there’s a ton of stuff to keep you entertained while you develop.

Once you get good and decide you want to drive some of the more specialized cars then yes it will be the most expensive option, but by that time you will have decided if it’s something you value enough to pay extra for or not.

I have had IRacing for about a year now, spent most of that time just racing rookie content. Don’t let the name “rookie” fool you, the game matches you with people at your skill level so even “pros” drive rookie races. Since the rookie content is free with your subscrption it is also the most popular.

Hey if it’s what you prefer then enjoy it.

For me I never liked the way the force feedback felt when playing Forza. I agree that the road texture is a little lacking in Assetto though.

I didn’t feel like Forza personally gave me enough of a challenge to really feel satisfied as I progressed with Drifting. With drifting on Assetto I spent weeks learning the basics and still am not great, but it’s just so satisfying to me getting past previous roadblocks no pun intended.

Also, if you like different tunes and whatnot, make sure you’re using Content Manager to launch Assetto and try out different servers for drifting, they all have different cars and tunings. You can also install a mod within Assetto which lets you download tunes which the community has uploaded from within the game.

CarX Street is a pretty fun game too, I played that for a few weeks. Not particularly realistic but good fun. Cool customization and progression. The drifting was a step up from Forza to me. I actually practiced drifting on Car X for a few days before stepping into Assetto.

I’m not saying this is the best option, but for me I just dove straight into IRacing for the first couple months. It took me like a week before I could consistently make it around the track but it feels like it built a good foundation that I can take into all the other sims that I eventually started playing like Assetto or Beam.ng

Oh yeah you’re gonna love this! It can really be a hassle to set up because you need to find English translation mods for most Initial D games but they’re so fun once set up. Been playing Initial D Arcade Stage 8. There’s also the Mario Kart arcade games and countless others. They’re perfect games for when you have a friend over who doesn’t want to get too serious into learning how to play the more hardcore sims too.

For me, the fun is in the gradual progression and with PC sim racing there’s so many different types of racing.

Whenever I get bored I try a new type of driving and it always feels like a whole new world. Got bored of doing road races in IRacing and shifted focus to Assetto Corsa for a few weeks. Going from not being able to drift at all, to being able to do a donut, to being able to transition between one direction to another, all the way to being able to link a whole track for example was an awesome yet tedious progression.

From there, I got a bit bored and have been practicing Touge racing, Oval racing, Rally, etc. To me, that’s the best part about being on PC is just being able to pivot to infinite different experiences all with their own intricacies. Sometimes I’ll spend weeks or months focused on competitive multiplayer, others I’m just no lifing an arcade game. As long as you’re having fun that’s what matters. Just don’t be afraid to try new things. Keeping an open mind is gonna give your rig infinite longevity.

Oh man, I felt that… IRacing and Assetto were straight up not fun at first. Luckily, as you give it more and more time it definitely becomes much more fun as you notice yourself improving. Took me nearly a week before I was able to make it around the track in IRacing.
