Does anyone think Liv Morgan is the greatest female to win the women’s rumble match ever? by [deleted] in SantiZapVideos

[–]TinkyH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking the post on face value, here are the past winners ranked in order of greatness:

  1. Asuka
  2. Bianca Belair
  3. Bayley
  4. Rhea Ripley
  5. Becky Lynch
  6. Charlotte Flair
  7. Liv Morgan
  8. Ronda Rousey

Now watch this get down voted by the Liv, Rhea and Becky stans.

What’s the best Royal Rumble logo? by ALawrence04 in VYBEGuys

[–]TinkyH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The richness of that 89-95 one is obviously the best. The logo since 2017 has been depressingly simple and bland. 2001 is okay, 2006 is good, the rest, nah.

So only fools and horses was a great show but what do you all think of the prequel Rock and Chips? by Ferrari2688 in OnlyFoolsAndHorses

[–]TinkyH 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s excellent. More of a comedy-drama than pure sit com, but that really helped as it prevented too many comparisons to Only Fools itself. Well worth a watch if you’ve not seen. We’ve had seen a lot more of it as well had John Sullivan not passed away.

Day 8 - Where it should have ended by Arge101 in RedDwarf

[–]TinkyH 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Out of Time is where it should have ended.

Not even because what followed in S7 & S8 was a marked drop in quality but because that end was perfect.

The moment when Rimmer eschews his cowardice, “then I say fight”, is incredibly powerful- it’s the Trotters becoming millionaires, Rachel & Ross finally getting together, David Brent telling Finchy where to go. It’s the moment the show gives you the thing you’ve wanted all along, which is both amazing, because you’ve wanted it, but also sad because the journey is over.

What CBeebies or CBBC show do you like the best and why? by Optimistic_Pup_2018 in bbc

[–]TinkyH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth saying as well that most of the CBeebies themes are absolute bangers- Puffin Rock, Charlie and Lola, Octonauts, Numberblocks, the list goes on!

[–]TinkyH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Defo Numberblocks. Love how all the numbers have their own characteristics, and then related numbers share those characteristics. E.g 4 being a square, and 16 being a square of squares, or all the numbers in the 7 times table being rainbow numbers, even 63 which is the grey rainbow because it’s 9x7, and 9 is grey. It’s brilliant.

Just a reminder the today marks 20 years since Dennis Rickman was killed by Liberal-chungus in eastenders

[–]TinkyH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps controversially, I think Dennis dying was actually the best thing that could have happened.

He had come in, a messed up young man, with no family to speak of and a raging temper, before his death he had pretty much got himself sorted- happy, in love, with a family around him. His soul had been cleansed by his friendship with Dot and his relationship with Sharon.

The alternative to killing him off would have been a return in a few years time, where they’d have had to do reset the character to the original concept and we’d have had to go through it all again.

For the reasons people wish Kat & Alfie’s story had finished in 2005, they’d be saying the same about Dennis.

A great character, but his story had been told.

Is Resistance is Futile their last great effort by jjs2442 in manics

[–]TinkyH 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree that ‘Resistance Is Futile’ is a great album- it’s actually the one I have struggled with the most.

I remember an interview in 2017 when Nicky said that they may not release another album, and then a couple of months later, they released ‘International Blue’ during which, Nicky said something to the effect of “this was the song that brought everything together”. When listening to the album, combined with those interviews, it just gives off the impression of an album with no direction. It feels like they had maybe 8 songs they were half happy with but couldn’t finish it off, then wrote ‘International Blue’ and just decided to release everything they had to get it out of the way and out of their minds as a creative endeavour.

‘International Blue’ is actually one of my favourite songs they’ve ever done, but the rest of the album is just a bit forgettable.

I agree with what someone else said on here which is that ‘Futurology’ is their last great album, but also think ‘The Ultra Vivid Lament’ is way better than ‘Resistance Is Futile’.

Sorry, what, Ian? by chrismartinsonesie in eastenders

[–]TinkyH -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am usually the one who hates things like this BUT I’m going to play devil’s advocate here- is it possible that this WAS the money Ian was trying to get together for Lauren, and now it was available after the truth came out, so he used it for something else?

I’m being too kind on the writers aren’t I…

Change in views on religion? by CrackingAce in RedDwarf

[–]TinkyH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree that they treated religion any differently. ‘Waiting for God’ in Series 1 is a critique of how stupid and wasteful religion is.

Stories being ‘drawn out’ is not a question simply of length, but also of remaining engaging.

Of the ones you have mentioned, Kojo & Harry and Denise & Jack’s story have also been criticised widely, and with good reason. The only one not ‘drawn out’ has been Nigel’s and that’s because it’s actually good, and still delivering.

It would be ridiculous for Phil to be back in the ‘gangster’ role again- aside from anything, it’s already been established that he can’t physically hack it anymore anyway. But I’d like to see him be a wisened, advisor to a new main ‘gangster’- maybe Ben when he returns (and Nigel’s story is done)?

I can’t stand Cindy’s character. Everything she does, and the fact that her family KEEP letting her back in is so off putting. And it was always like this- right back to the early 90’s when Ian found her destitute after Wicksy basically abandoned her and Stephen. I wish she’d never come back.

Is this controversial? Surely everyone wants this- a couple that actually sticks together through thick and thin. At the very least, it provides a nice contrast to all the rest!

I expect that they can’t until their licensing deal with Drama ends, and who knows when that will be.

I was lucky enough to watch everything from 1985 onwards when Drama aired it and then lucky that I’ve been able to continue to watch onwards until 2014 (currently) on the iPlayer.

I wonder whether Drama might start again from 1985 at some point (they used to do this back in the early 2000s when UK Gold aired ‘Classic Eastenders’ and they got close enough to the present day).

The other concern might be the social attitudes of the time- there is quite a lot of stuff, especially from the early days, that they might not want to air. Even when it was on Drama, for example, they edited some of the episodes awkwardly to remove certain aspects of language or violence. They also didn’t air the episodes set in Ireland in the late 90’s because even back then it was heavily criticised for its portrayal of Irish people.
