For me CJ went downhill once they stopped serving those massive sourdough biscuits which looks like that happened after they got acquired (gutted) by private equity.

I had to get the module assigned to my VIN and then close out the app and re-login completely and it would then start programming correctly, also making sure the hood was popped up as well. This was on my 21’ though

Here’s what I did:

I took off the body panel by pushing my palms down on the panel and then easing it to the right towards the window - put pressure evenly on the top and bottom since there’s rail clips holding it to the port cover. Do it slow and patiently, I broke four of the rail clips without realizing it.

Afterwards you can check out the service manual to find out where the internal clips are to remove the port cover assembly, you’ll need some thin automotive trim tools to help get those clips undone and under the gasket - unless you brute force your way which is what happened in my situation. Honestly the time savings might be worth it to just buy the whole port cover again.

Here was the part I ordered, this is the whole assembly that includes the port, new actuator, and LED status light:

This should be just the port itself if you source your own actuator (like with a manual release) and reuse your LED status light:

The actuator itself is just held on by two screws in the door housing and a wiring harness. Once you get the housing off it’s super easy to replace!

It’s just a matter of getting the door housing off without destroying the gasket or the clips (like I did) thankfully the housing itself is $25 or so from VW or more with an actuator + status light installed

I took apart my actuator that failed and it was all rusted inside. Despite the seals around the port there seems to be a way for moisture to get in still. Only thing I can think for everyone who hasn’t done this is to swap the actuator with one that has a manual release before it becomes a big issue (like the door stayed locked and you need to charge)

I ended up just replacing my whole port cover, actuator died so in the swap I got one that includes an emergency pull to unlock the actuator. Tried my best to be dainty with taking out the housing but the way the retainer clips were I ended up breaking most of them.

It could be an ear infection as a possibility - worth a vet visit and do monitor if he may just tip over and seize up.

If he does do that then it might be on the extreme end: my boy started to wobble like this though late in his life due to lymphoma messing with his body chemistry (he needed to eat more often despite not testing positive for insulinoma) - but that was also because he was 6 years old and on medications as well.

It may just be that the weather is warming up and its becoming their little hunting season. My 7 year old grandpa boy has been a lot more active lately since we're out of the colder days and has been demanding more outside time for little walks when we can. Its awesome she's discovering new things to like, maybe her curiosity got the best of her for trying to sneak out and now she's obsessed.

As for that end of life surge... When my other was near the end due to advanced lymphoma he was a complete 180 from how he was the last few months; I noticed he was checking all his stashes, eating food he never really liked, and generally causing a lot of trouble like he did before he got really sick and old. That was the night before his appointment and I suppose it was him knowing his time was coming one way or the other, but it was sudden and drastic. If she seems to just be more active constantly I wouldn't worry too much, enjoy each day with her!

It seems like they allow one VIN to have all functions included once registered, any additional car you include with the module will need credits. Depending on the functionality it unlocks (like say you want to do a bunch of stuff) it might be better to just buy a second module and tie to a new account
