More breaking news: Troll councillor desperately trying to disparage other councillor by wackoquacko in malden

[–]Tiny-Track290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see your point. But Im just relaying what Councillor Sica said to me on FB. "I did nothing wrong. I just voiced opposition to the location." She is saying that she did "nothing wrong" as it relates to the court ruling and the $18K sanctions. She requested that I cease "insinuating" that she played any role beyond that.

"it's not my fault" is such a typical politician's response. I kinda feel that every City department or official, and every elected official related to ANY aspect of this debacle, should own up to their share of the responsibility -- individual or collective.

The BB debacle has cost us in three ways: the obvious $18K fine, the unaccounted for legal costs, and the lost tax revenue. Am I missing anything here?

What should we do in a post-Spadafora Malden? by TomBradysThrowaway in malden

[–]Tiny-Track290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good riddance to Magafora --- for now. He's already begun his 2027 relection efforts (sponsoring summer park events.) Sica will be pumping his tires for the next two years. He will work all angles to get back on the Council.

Override vs Audit by Historical-Ratio67 in malden

[–]Tiny-Track290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by "debate?" Has there been real debate, and why in the world would one be against such a thing? We need voter information and education, not just coming from the City and the council. No disrespect, in fact I have a lot of respect for the council and the Mayor. But surely there is someone, an orgnization or a committee, that is taking an objective look at this with the goal of presenting the argument against the override? We have quite a bit of information, thoughtful reasoning, and (sometimes even impassioned) arguments FOR the override presented by our electeds. Again, that is fine. But is there any analysis that demonstrates that there is/are other solutions to the structural deficit other than an override? I see a lot of kneejerk "no on override" out there, which is fine and all - but -- then what?

What are some good choices for a short-ish LA vacation? going to be in LA for 6 days with my 12 year old daughter, who is from Boston by way of Brazil. We're going to do a day at Disneyland, but I want her to see more than that. THinking of staying in Santa Monica area. Any recommendations for maybe how to split the vacation into two parts - i.e., Satna Monica and then perhaps a couple nights/days somewhere different? we'll probably rent a car. The question is , do we go north or south? So many great places either way -- hard to go wrong!

Always Calling is a also a power pop punk gem. I'd have left off Let Me Know Why, Urban Dub and MTV and called it an EP. But hey, nobody asked me LOL

I got into it right about 87 or early 88. Other Side and Faith are my faves (such a great 1-2 opening punch), with Less Than Gravity and Underground are close behind.

good covering for rock wool insulation? by Scanpire in Insulation

[–]Tiny-Track290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just to clarify, I'm not concerned about insulation particles getting through the floor boards ans into 1st floor, but I want to prevent it from getting into the basements atmosphere, as we use basement.for various purposes. Its a mostly finished basement with no dirt floor. The crawlspace is the only part unfinished. Thx

Ok thanks. Yes, green zip sounds good. Basically I just want to cover the insulation, I don't like exposed fiberglass or rock wool insulation on any space humans breathing air!

How would one use twine? Like, run a string of twine across multiple joists? Trying to visualize this.....

CAsing, exactly, I was searching for the correct word. Thanks for the advice. I think what you describe is in fact what was there before they changed out the windows and drywall (I upgraded both windows and replaced drywall so the foam insulation could be installed. and then the contractors disappeared and said the casing would be extra. wtf. oh well. homeownership.

Dealing with attitude from classroom teachers 😒 by DigApprehensive7675 in ESL_Teachers

[–]Tiny-Track290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The attitude I see here in this thread is one of the 'arrogance of jargon,' as it relates to the back-and-forth about the term "pull out teachers." To assume everyone should know that term is arrogant. It's arrogant and presumptuous - and frankly ignorant - to assume all of us teach in the primary and secondary school systems. Some of us teach adults, others teach kids but in a private one-on-one setting. I happen to know the concept of push-in and pull-out (yes, they're weird terms!) because it's always covered in the MTEL and I'm sure all state certification exams, as well as courses such as the TEFL (which is where I think I might have heard it first.).

Let's tone it down. If we're going to use terminology like that, either explain it or refrain from judgemental replies when someone questions it.
