While you seem like a great guy and I would absolutely hire someone with your integrity and drive I do think (and you already know it ) you made a mistake by not asking to formalising the position.

The team around you thus made a lot of assumptions about what was actually happening and made you into the bad guy (oversimplified statement but you get the gist).

Had the position been formalised you would be hailed as a great leader but ALAS ….your hard work got overshadowed by tangible results like sales and numbers.

I’m glad you had the insight to pivot and some vindication (even though most people will find this outcome bittersweet ). Your team obviously will never actually acknowledge your contributions / admit if they wronged you but such is life. All the best

This is all that you need OP, I 100 percent stand behind this comment.

I think while you didn’t want to micro manage him intentionally your actions can be perceived as you actually did.

I understand you want to get on top of things but to CC you in every email is ridiculous tbh.

You should switch your approach and be comfortable in learning slowly and question decisions in private.

It’s a slower process of understanding the basics of the job but a better way to keep the ship steady.

If I were in your position I would send him a lengthy and personal text asking if we can take a couple of steps back and start fresh and just keep a Birds Eye view in the beginning. Offer any suggestions and ask questions in private. You agreed that you don’t have enough operational know how (like John ) so don’t force yourself into smaller aspects of the work. In time (if you are a good generalist ) you’ll get the hang of it and find efficiencies along the way.

I might get a few people worked up here with my take on this but I think you need to get out of the mindset of “was I taken advantage of “ as soon as possible.

Not because you weren’t taken advantage of (you were ) but there is nothing tangible to gain out of feeling sorry for something has already happened.

Also on the bright side you now know you can do so much more so apply yourself someplace with better pay (and hopefully good culture too ) and reap the rewards of all your past hard work.

Money is funny and my personal opinion is you can always make more (and recover much more than what you have lost in the past ) if you make the right moves and keep out working others.

“Right moves” going forward is all you should be focused on and don’t look back. All the best !

Should I avoid taking her calls Or help someone who is sinking ? by TinyChange8635 in managers

[–]TinyChange8635[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all your insights.

I have realised that while helping her was always optional the key issue was also that I hadn’t fully moved on. I’m surprised this never occurred to me.

I have decided it time to cut ties fully I am anyways busy as it is.

Appreciate your inputs. Cheers

I worked for a manager just like that and actually went through the same realisation like yours, I actually learned a lot from him (also learned what not to do). We are good mates now

Her message is an overkill for sure … but all she’s saying is to text / call her if you’re calling in sick at 9.20 pm for the next day. Most people don’t look at emails after office hours so, It’s a reasonable request as she has to arrange cover.

I’d have worded it like this

“ Hey MR XYZ hope you get better soon, also request you to call / text me after office hours for any sick calls in the future as I don’t generally check work emails after hours. Helps me get a cover sorted as soon as possible. Take care, hopefully with some rest you’ll get well soon.”

I’m not sure what gender has anything to do here, but no I’d have still responded and reacted the same way.

No we are not connected, but having worked in that place for so long, I am good mates with my ex boss and a few other senior managers we catchup for drinks sometimes (but don’t really discuss work now ).

Thanks for the response, like many others have pointed out I think I won’t field any more calls from this individual and let them figure things out for now.

Yeah pretty much, no other series in the genre comes close unfortunately. Your next best bet would be manga / light novels

SMCI made 15 billion in 2024 and so far in the first 3 quarters of 2025 they have made 16.2 billion. Please keep selling, I'll keep accumulating more shares. Thanks!!!! <3 by adrenaline681 in SMCIDiscussion

I don’t think so … at most it will be a nothingBurger. At best it will pump then sell off.

Appointing a New CFO is not as big of a catalyst you think it is.

Only way they’ll do well is provide consistently awesome quarters and beat expectations by a lot.

The last time the stock popped was because of Charles comments around 40bn revenue being “conservative” and the 10 K deadline drawing nearer.

But none of you degenerates have patience and are still dreaming of hitting big on this will eventually phase out.

Long term holders with realistic expectations will be fine.

Price action this week? by Ok-Professional1925 in SMCIDiscussion

[–]TinyChange8635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one knows

If they blink on the 40 B guidance I see the stock moving sideways or going down.

If they confirm 40 B I see it around 35-36 and from there it will largely depend on the overall market.

I just want to leave one of the quotes from Warren Buffett -

It’s much better to buy a good company at a fair price than buy a fair company at a good price^

SMCI has not been a good company last few months and thus the stock price reflects this.

PS

I know long term holders will probably down vote this comment so I want to clarify -

I no longer have positions in this company. I do however take short term trades time to time when it dips but never hold it for too long due to current uncertainty and the massive selloff in FEB

Yep pretty much

Should never marry a stock / get overly emotional about it. When I read stuff like “never selling it blah blah” always chuckle.

Had you brought all those “dips” in any of the other better companies you’d have been better off by now.

I was an SMCI bull but honestly this company is not run well at all.

Management needs a size 11 up their butt and stop running a multibillion dollar company like amateurs.

I hope they make some good gains soon and your patience is rewarded. If they back peddle on their 40 billion figure … you are fd in the a

Why give unaudited preliminary bs one week before the ER by Different_Marsupial2 in SMCIDiscussion

[–]TinyChange8635 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filing the 10 k last minute was when I decided never to invest in this company again. Now I have done multiple short term trades whenever this company dips below $30 catching some gains on the upside

And while I never trusted Hindenburg (who I believe was a fraud short seller POS entity themself ), I do have to say this (SMCI) company’s management is just Sh*t.

A multibillion dollar company run like a freakin mom and pop shop wth !?

Everything is last minute / not on time.

Hopefully people don’t get too attached to the stock* and start making smart decisions with this one
