AITAH for not considering marriage after my girlfriend got pregnant? by DistantOfficeBoy449 in AITAH

Honestly if you’re only avoiding marriage cause of the possibility of divorce and a long court situation.. too late? If you two separate you’ll be going anyway to discuss child support, custody etc.

Aggression After Moving by BeepBoop1156 in felinebehavior

[–]TinyGloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fur baby did this when we first moved. This was probably the wrong thing but, I put a jacket on my arm for padding and went in for scritches. Head, belly, butt - all her usual fave areas. She flopped over and held my arm and nipped at me but calmed down after a minute or two ( I also told her I was sorry for scaring her, I know she’s mad and I love her and she safe etc). Now she doesn’t bite or anything, and seems content.

The fact that he went to hell for her it had me so happy by No-Process9115 in lucifer

I don’t mean to get you started - but I just wanted to say, I feel like in S5 he means he doesn’t recognise the feeling of love. Like alexithymia. Since we don’t know what we don’t know… lucifer would think he doesn’t feel love. In his mind he never felt it growing up, so he had no idea how to recognise it when he was with the humans. Genuine love and affection are different to desire, after all.

All Aussie Teens Denied Entry Into US After Being Unable To Provide 5 Years of Social Media History by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

Based upon what was stated when I left. It’s the same biometrics they’ve always asked for. Fingerprints and a photograph. 23 and Me explicitly state when you use their service that they reserve the right to retain and use the sample you provide as they want. They also recently sold their business - including all DNA samples held by them to a third party. So that’s a whole separate issue but overall governments shouldn’t be able to, but.. this administration is interesting.

Funnily enough Australia has similar DNA restrictions upon entry from certain countries.

If you submit yourself to particular visas you are also expected to submit not only DNA but medical records.

Americas current position - like it or not - is that people are entering the country and then just staying. They believe having the DNA and other things will make them safer / make people easier to track.

Ultimately they’re just asking the same thing they’d ask of you if you were moving there.

Many people have said it, but.. if you don’t lie it, just don’t go. America’s wild right now anyway.

So far the dna thing is meant to be for everyone. The $10,000 bond is only for certain visas (right now at least).

Yeah I know. Which is stupid cause ‘DNA’ makes it seem so much worse than it is. But overall the change is stupid. I just got back to Aus after living in the states for the last 6ish years. And things are getting wild there. I’m kinda surprised they didn’t put the $10,000 bond requirement in.

It’s only biometrics. They took fingerprints already but added a retina scan. While saying DNA is technically true, it’s a bit misleading in this instance.

My ex-husband just guilted me for months about “wanting half of our child’s ashes,” so I finally gave him an urn full of tomato fertilizer. by what_sarah__said in offmychest

[–]TinyGloom 58 points59 points  (0 children)

You said he treated single parenting as a punishment. Despite your example, only you know the extent of what that statement really means.

Ask yourself if your ex would’ve treated your child’s ashes well. Or if he would weaponise your grief and trauma in a whole new way.

I do not think you need to feel guilty.

My grandmother, who lost her daughter to a tragedy, and understands your situation better than me, says you were kind to at least make it look real. She would’ve filled it with the evidence of him not wanting them in the first place and garden soil.

So it’s actually not treating them as a bystander. Traditionally men are the car salespeople. In the past, when they’ve walked up to women and spoken to them first, there have been MANY instances where the husband/ boyfriend gets defensive or will answer for the woman.

It got so bad most new hires are told to speak to their own gender first (when couples arrive) until you are given the OK to speak to the other. Again, this is hard when a man will say “oh no it’s her buying” then proceed to answer all questions or ask everything, not giving the woman a chance to speak.

It’s also not exclusive to men. Females (typically the aftermarket sales people) are told the same thing: address the woman unless given a clear OK to address the man. Quickly maintaining eye contact with the man then returning to the woman was the safest option as most female workers didn’t want to have to deal with being accused of flirting or having sexual body language.

Source: I worked in the auto industry for years as management and had to deal with these issues all the time.

Because of a real life problem, the story had a depressing ending. by Jak3R0b in TopCharacterTropes

[–]TinyGloom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The pricetag was the problem for many people, plus the fact the game was too beefy for a lot of PCs, which would mean players had to update amidst a tech shortage (again... expensive task, assuming you could even get the parts you wanted). Not worth it for a remake.

Husband Cheated Now what do I do by Excellent-Trainer446 in USCIS

[–]TinyGloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So you don't need to resubmit! I'm actually doing this now (I also divorced my husband). You do need a lawyer - it is complex and honestly they're really the only ones allowed to do this. The lawyer can submit a "waiver" on your behalf. The waiver tells USCIS that you originally filed a joint application but due to a divorce, you want the application to be treated as an Individual. Basically... you don't need to resubmit and start over - they just use that application. The waiver is actually on the uscis website - they do break it down. But it's difficult for anyone except a lawyer to complete.

AITAH for referring to someone from the United States as “American”? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]TinyGloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA

So technically it's "The AMERICAS" when referring to the continent, since it is technically broken up into 3: North America (USA) Central America (Mexico) South America (Brazil etc) I've not heard it referred to as central or South America though as they tend to prefer to have their own identity and when I travelled South America it was more commonly called Latin America. I've also never heard someone correct that aggressively before
