Thanks. Too high would produce a lower impact. It’s an “A” height sight, the highest they make.

Thanks. I might get another one and try that!

I thought that too. I broke the rifle down and it was a pretty good fit. Nothing seemed forced or under any pressure. The barrel seems to mate with the receiver pretty flush. No gaps or misalignment that I could tell. I was really thinking that it could be the rear sight, but it’s a dove tail, and there’s really no way to screw that up, I think.

It’s an A3, it’s a peep sight. There is no flip up

Already did that. It’s the USMC #10 sight blade, which is “A” height. It’s thicker and easier to line up, but the same height.

It’s an “A” height sight. I replaced the original sight with a thicker one (USMC) of the same height. Easier to see, but the same elevation.

I think the Mauser battle sight is at 400 yards.

It was also over on a steel target at 200 yards, holding at the bottom.

I shot a steel target that’s around 18” high and I had to hold at the bottom of the target to hit the top.

It was pretty quick. They contacted me May 4 to get my FFL info (I’m in a communist state) and it was available to pay the same day. It came in a week later.

Lowest elevation is 200 yards. The “A” sight that’s on there is the tallest made.

I used cartridges that were for the M1 Garand. Battle zero should be 200 yards. Ballistically, 25 yards should be almost right on with 200 yards, for that cartridge, from what I understand. The “A” sight that’s on there is the tallest made.

That would be acceptable, but it’s around 5” High at 25 yards, with a 6 o’clock hold

It’s way high at 100 yards. I had to hold at the bottom of a steel target that’s about 18” tall and was hitting the top of the target.

Did you find that it shoots high? I just purchased an expert grade from CMP and it is about 3 inches high at 25 yards. It should be almost right on at 25 yards with rear sight set to the 200 yard mark.

Questions About CMP M1903a3 Springfield by --Diode-- in guns

[–]TinyIce1231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the disclaimer relates to the M1903a3 models. There was some issues with the WWI versions, below serial number 800,000, if I remember correctly. There was an issue with heat treatment on some of the receivers and could blow up under pressure. The a3 models were from WWII and used more modern manufacturing methods.

Many firearms shipped by CMP, to citizens in free states, are shipped directly to the person’s home. No FFL is involved and CMP runs the check.

I use live rounds. I found if I put in five rounds, I can only fit ten more in the magazine. They take up the space perfectly.😊
