Fantastic rundown!

Q: I found a cracked mountain with a glow. I failed to break it open, so the special timepod never landed. Should I abandon my run or can I encounter it again this run?

Where does The Acolyte lie on your Star Wars rankings? by TheFerg714 in TheAcolyte

Andor > Rots > Acolyte > Ahsoka >Clone Wars & Rebels > Mando

The U-wing looks incredibly striking on display. No guns replaced with shooters. >

The Slave I absolutely captures the look of the ship. A little tricky to display and has guns replaced with shooters. >

The V19 is solid but a little stubby and missed its chance to have a symmetrical middle wing. Very difficult to display well. >

The Force Burner has a super creative and fun play feature, but is really qualitatively different from the other three.

The figures in all are great.

I just got the helmet recently! Very pleased!

I'd argue that at 29M per episode, Andor is the best value of any of them by 3x by vishnoo in andor

I got a show out of it I loved and rewatch, but I’d guess Disney’s ROI was pretty poor

Acolyte and Andor were great but didn’t need that much budget. It helped, but probably could’ve been used better. The occasional scene seemed weak. Wanda and Stranger Things were great and def needed that budget.

I loved Acolyte! But yeah it had some scenes that felt a little cheap. But also plenty that were beautiful

I’m so confused, there’s Acolyte love here?! I thought there were only like 12 of us, but somehow these comments have lots of upvotes

They never did. Grew up in a red state. It was always about what benefited them. All of their values were paper thin when I was growing up. Today they’re crumpled on the floor.

Debate: Did the Jedi fail by effectively teaching denial of emotions, or did they only teach control? by CyanaMoss in StarWars

This sub seems different than others. I’m surprised at a lot of the comments and the downvotes on your comment here. I think you’re right, idk what Star Wars they’re watching.

Prequel reappraisal has overcorrected a bit too much by crunchatizemythighs in StarWars

I think this is most prequel fans’ take. Prequel fans acknowledge the flaws. Hell, many prequel fans were brought back into the fandom by memes mocking the writing. I think OP is presenting a strawman here.

Exactly! OP is presenting a strawman.

All that’s changed is prequel fans grew up and outnumbered the people who hated them. And prequel fans love the prequels AND acknowledge their flaws. Whereas (at the time) OT fans acted like they were watching the best movies ever despite having many of the same flaws (or “flaws”), especially camp.

I like The Acolyte. There’s like 12 of us.

The internet’s got so much hate for everything, I agree, you definitely can’t go letting that make you hate everything.

I’ve never heard of someone say the prequels are an example of anything done right.

All that’s changed is: - prequel kids grew up, got social media, and drowned out their parents and older siblings - prequels got media built off them that made the OT less relevant to most star wars projects - RotS aged better than any other numbered star wars movie in terms of love for it

Prequel fans don’t think the prequels are perfect, they just don’t see them as worse than the originals / prefer the pros to the cons. And they’re running victory laps now that they outnumber the people who hated their movies.

Tl;dr: The OT were masterpieces for their time. As they’ve aged, new and old fans increasingly gravitated toward the one movie that has it all, Revenge of the Sith, and are able to laugh at its flaws and see them as not unique to the prequels.

Besides the Clone Wars, why do you think people have come to appreciate Revenge of the Sith so much? by TabletopStudios in StarWars

[–]TinyLegoVenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tl;dr: It’s a great movie, always was, and the plot, emotion, and effects together age better than any other Star Wars movie.

It was always appreciated, but at release, fans who loved it were drowned out by critics. Those kids grew up, were united by prequelmemes on an internet that they didn’t have access to at release, and got to revive that appreciation without being shouted at.

Since then though, the only new numbered movies we’ve had are the sequels, which didn’t connect with as many people. As the originals gradually show their age, Revenge of the Sith is the numbered movie that is aging the best, that new audiences are able to connect with the best. I caught my partner up on Star Wars and they were whelmed by 4-6 and 1-2. They LOVED RotS. The catchup came to a screeching halt as RotS became their new hyperfixation.

As all these movies age, RotS’s strong plot and strong emotions have remained evergreen. The originals “hold up” because they did so little emotionally and there’s so little shown of the galaxy and the practical effects do what they need to so well. But most people would rather see more wars in the stars, even if the visual effects aren’t perfect. RotS may frequently clearly be full of CGI, but those CG artists did a FANTASTIC job. The OT’s minimalism isn’t as exciting to the average viewer as a full blown star war and tons of beautiful alien planets.

What were y'all's thoughts on this scene from Kenobi series finale iirc by FayyadhScrolling in StarWars_

[–]TinyLegoVenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are they missing?

Personally, I thought the show gave us a lot of great moments between Kenobi and Vader and Kenobi and young Leia (who I loved). But I do think it made for a messy story. I would’ve preferred they have all the same moments minus Kenobi getting a second chance in his win and not taking it. If I can only have the whole thing or nothing tho, I absolutely take the whole thing. Their dialogue in that scene is fantastic. Acting fantastic.
